- Join me for a walk through these beautiful rooms where I will share all the details on the artists, design, and history.
Inaugurated in 1861 for the Ministery of State the ceremonial rooms and apartments were utilized by the government for over 120 years. During the Commune of 1871, the offices of the Ministry of Finance were destroyed and quickly moved in.
Lucky for us in the late 1980s the Louvre needed more space and asked the Ministry to leave. While the rest of the Richelieu wing was completely rebuilt the apartments were restored and in 1993 visitors fell in love with the gilded palace.
Closed for 9 months for a much-needed cleaning and renovation, we can once again take in the 180-bulb chandelier and decorated walls.

This is my favorite channel! I just love your knowledge of the kings and queens and the Revolution. I have an obsession with the 18th century France. I visited last May and I’m going to visit again May 2025 Keep up the good work!
Perfect camera not shaking
Incredibly informative! You have a very pleasant voice!
What a gorgeous day!
When I went to the Louvre in June I was so disappointed this place was closed! There was weirdly a strong sewage smell near the apartments, so I guess it’s good they were closed. Glad they’re back open
Amazing video went to paris and it was not open so to see this is truly gorgeous !!!!
Thank you for this tour. I just love to see your videos and all the information you bring🙌🙂🙂🙂 I wanted to see this apartment when i was in Paris in 2022, but i guess they would have been under restoration at that time.
Beautiful
Oh... for Napoleon III his tomb in the UK in made some artworks some years ago, the originals had been stolen. Now my creations stand in his sanctuary. Last time I visit the apartments in the Louvre was in 2019.
I just discovered you're channel. I'm speechless! You're knowledge & filming are second to none. I've seen hours upon hours of videos of the apartments & yours is far & away the best!😊 Thank-you for sharing.

Thanks for bringing us along.
When I was visiting Louvre in October 2023 this department was closed for renovation. I will enjoy it now.
Ein Traum! Allein die Einrichtung... ❤️❤️❤️❤️
ótimo vídeo. Abraço do Brasil.
Fascinating!
Past Saturday 20 July. ....Paris is not pleasant at the moment. The Olympic Games make it very difficult to move around on foot, area around the seine a hermetically sealed zone. But still nice, to have seen the infrastructure for once.
Bonjour everyone
Bonjour Suzi, thank you for joining :)
Those escalators are a choice 😂
Bonjour
Those floors sound like my grandmother’s house. lol
I never knew there were apartments in the Louvre
Like 'aaron' 😂😂❤
Sam Pan Bóg nie ma w niebie takiego mieszkania.
🤗🤗🤗
Where can I find more information about the paintings on the ceilings?
Wonderful, thank you. I have to say that I have always found the Second Empire to lack the charm and good taste of the 18th century. I tend to associate this style (Second Empire / Napoleon III) very closely with the Rothschild family too - who decorated their many homes during this time. Much like the Victorians in Britain, the French were also going through a very eclectic revival of past styles (particularly 18th century Rococo) during the mid-to-late 19th century.
So the guy in the corner just sits there all day doing nothing....
