Hey dear heart, do you know aThe Refashioned Hippie, here on ytube? Love you btw, youre so green....But I think you totally could work it and slay .. no really bunty no you would have great sypatico and quite resonant of a meeting. Just saying ...carry on.. Ohhh did you know I was a nue romantic in my salad days ...? Return? STAND AND DELIVER!!!
I’ve noticed that there has been a rise of whimisical outfits to the return of funner or kinder camp movies such as Wonka or the New Wicked movie even down to the music artists such as Chappel Roan, Sabrina Carpenter being fun and unserious is definately the vibe.😍✨
I think you're spot-on with the child-like vibes. My mom showed me a few videos from when I was a toddler (late 90s) the other day, and I was like "Why would I wear the adult versions of all these outfits?" Red corduroy overalls with a striped shirt underneath? Yes. Black sweater with a red train sewn on? Absolutely. I'm ready to dress like a 90s toddler lol
As a fashion stylist, I really hope that personal style continues to be at the forefront when it comes to people participating in trends. That’s not to say you can’t branch out when it comes to trying out different styles, but make sure you’re doing it for you and not to fit into whatever’s popular.
Fully agreed. I’ve always been a thrifter, but once I reached 40 and started wearing mostly vintage clothes I’ve really broken free from my 20s in the 2000’s when I over consumed fast fashion. That being said, now that I’m well into my second trend cycle I have been thrifting the pieces I did love in the 2000s.
I really like corsets, I realised that because they are trendy but haven't found a way yet to make a good outfit with them. But yes take inspo from trends but make it your own
I hope the trend of homemade items continues. A lot of people picked up crafting of some sort in 2024, from sewing a whole wardrobe to making a charm necklace. I picked up knitting (and might make one of those grandma sweaters). It gives that freedom to explore personal style by making exactly the things you want to have.
If I’m being honest we are definitely about to see the inevitable maximalist callback to the beige, clean girl minimalism trends that swept the last few years and although that could’ve gone in a plethora of different directions, I’m incredibly happy with how it’s looking so far. If nothing else, 2025 is the year for fashion and I’m excited 🔥
@egale1873 Minimalism killed the heart and soul of the different aspects that make a society. I'm ready for more fun and color too, as long as the quality is good. (#^.^#)
I was about to comment the same, it all screams "maximalism", I hope people go back to having their own style instead of wearing the same boring outfits everyone wears. It's really fun to wear skirts and dresses, and to be inventive about every outfit
@@kaitlynsvintagecloset Oh definitely. We don't need more (over)consumerism like we've seen the past few years, which leads to MORE abandoned items, goods and products being dropped all willy-nilly in Africa and South America to be "recycled". 🙄🙄
@@Gaibbybirdcovid isn’t as widespread or worldwide as it was 5/6 years ago, by definition its just disease that’s being monitored carefully not a pandemic its a epidemic.
Anyone brave enough to bring back the New Romantics has my full-hearted approval. Acid wash, perms, kidcore, and animals? Heaven! NEW ROMANTICS BUT MAKE IT MEDIEVAL WITH A HENIN!?!?
i love fun fashion. i wear flared jeans and graphic tees on a daily basis, and it makes me happier than anything in the world. ive even developed fashion rules for myself, like the costume design for The Nanny. this has helped me set my mind on what my personal style is, so i dont buy things i wont wear
Love the idea of setting fashion rules for yourself/thinking of yourself as a costume designer for yourself. I always joke that I’m like a cartoon character because I have a specific color palette (I only wear black, red and white). But it also helps me from buying things I know I won’t wear. Plus, all my clothes and accessories match!
I'm so glad that the prediction is that pop culture wants to be fun again. But I always feel like, while (say) music trends are very easily observed as we all share the Top 40, these fashion trends happen mostly on TikTok, and on the occasional runway. Like, I know it's A Thing, but I never actually see it irl
My daughter, I made her a good one. Complete with black velvet cloak and everything. Some people thought she was a boy until she took off the hoodie of her cloak.
Since the romantic (and with it obviously the gothic) genre has been becoming more and more popular in books and movies, and since romanticising the medieval periods is one of the main parts of the genre, a modern medieval trend seems very likely. I'm definitely looking forward to it!
I feel like 2025 will be the year that the 2020s fashion style will be solidified. It'll be defined by a mix of micro trends and personalized pieces, while overall aesthetics are brought together by bright, playful colours and statement pieces. I feel like 2025 will have a really fun, eclectic and escapist style which will remain for the rest of the decade.
As a middle aged woman who is forever into all things hippie/boho/60s and 70s I’m really excited for everyone who is trend obsessed to donate those great pieces to the thrift stores. I’ll be snapping them up!
loving the nostalgia and whimsy fashion among these predictions. the world really needs color again because the colorless beige trends was eating people ALIVE!!
Capes/cloaks are glorious! I love my cloak(s)! One goes down to about below my knees (my longer one nearly drags on the floor... awesome but so impractical honestly). Still glorious, but a tripping hazard). Practical AND awesome. I can wear mine in public now. And the best part is, my cloaks have POCKETS! Deep pockets at that.
Dropping a message here to thank the super thorough Pinterest board, where you can find all the images in the video! This is absolute gold, this is why this channel is top tier
One that I've seen a lot already is lacy underwear with bows worn with low rise jeans so the lace pokes out. It was done a little last year but I think it;ll become a lot more mainstream.
Love to hear specifically purple lipstick because just the other day I remembered how purple lips were EVERYTHING in 2015 and gee surely those will come back soon won’t they
The first half of the trends are so unsexy and I don’t know if I hate it or love it. They are all almost EXACTLY the opposite of what media has predicted fashion and style to be in 2025 (the future). I love this video and can’t wait to see what happens!
It makes sense the New Romantics would be making a comeback. Especially with Cyndi Lauper’s Final farewell tour which I am excited to be going with my mum to see in April since she was a fan of Cyndi’s as a teenager and has seen one other time. For me, this will be my first concert since most of my favourite singers are either dead or no longer in the music industry. What can I say, I love the 80’s and I love the Cupcake dress style and the tulle skirts so it seems I am already on trend without actually trying.
I'm so excited to see predictions of animal motif's, statement granny sweaters and ponchos! They are already on my knitting/crochet project wish list for this year!
The "welcome to the dollhouse" makes me think of a tiktok I saw (can't remember the creator's name) where they were talking about the rise in realistic food and fruit furniture and tiktok diy furniture as "big preschool"
I'm definitely looking forward to the cloaks and ponchos trend!! I've wanted a hooded medieval-fantasy cloak ever since i was 14 and obsessed with high fantasy novels, but i never got around to getting one, mostly because of concerns of practicality (i wouldn't be brave enough to go in public wearing one if it looks too costumey, also i wouldn't know how to style it to not look too out of place with the rest of the outift) but i'd love to see a more modern take on them, if they keep their whimsy. I also got quite nostalgic for ponchos recently, remembering how my mother would always dress me in one for kindergarten in spring or fall. I never liked wearing that poncho, but I'm certainly into the idea of wearing one now
17 year old girl here. Can we please talk about how 97% of these styles will on be adopted by influencers, celebrities, and those that are EXTREMELY fashion forward. What are some ways these style will actually be implemented by the masses and these fast fashion companies who a lot of people are buying from rn? Love the video though!!🫶🏾
I think that’s the point. The fashion forward people will adopt it first, then other people follow a few years later. If you wanna see what’s in the mainstream now, try looking at her fashion trend predictions for 2020-2022
I obviously haven’t watched the vid yet, but my personal predictions are: cloaks (outerwear has been so boring for years), those ankle boot warmer socks, and I think ombré might make an unfortunate reappearance in July 🥲
My personal fashion trend: things that are loose and/or adjustable because my weight and comfort keeps fluctuating and I just want to be able to wear my clothes for more than two years 😫 A lot of these items I’ve been sewing myself because I can’t find what I want in stores and they’re easy to make!
SAME!!!!! I just want to be able to wear my favourite clothes for as long as possible so I’m altering things I already own to be adjustable! And anything new I sew will definitely be adjustable too
I'm very ready for medieval revival and intricate hair, bu-bye slicked back buns. I like the sound of the deer print too, whether micro-trend or no, I'll be looking into that one
I am SO here for modern medieval to become a little more mainstream! my personal style is heavily inspired by medieval motifs so being able to more easily aquire pieces would be amazing. im also super excited for the doll house styles, as that is the other half of my style 😅basically my preffered look at any given time is a clown wizard with silly proportions, so theres a lot going for me this year
i've been ahead of the curve with the granny sweaters, they're my favorite thing to wear. which makes me sad because now they're gonna be harder to find and overpriced if this trend prediction is true.
I’ve been collecting vintage for a year in a half, don’t know what started it. But I have a decent amount of dresses and jackets now. I even scored bonjour acid washed high waisted shorts this summer for $20. I’m so exited for this. I see it being a full revival, not just inspired by it like the in the 2010s, like accurate 80s outfits. Plus, from everything I’ve collected, I can confirm that’s it was a lot better made than most things now.
I don't know if this counts as a fashion trend but, plush keychains or bag charms here in the Philippines are very common nowadays. This definitely correlates to the animal, dollhouse, or childish aesthetic as little plush toys are common to see attached with one's bag. Thanks mostly to Labubu, Sanrio Characters, cute animal plushies and those little KPOP dolls kept in transparent compartments attached to one's bag, I think its Enhypen. Arcade claw machines have also been stocking up on these. I have a little raccoon one and a kuromi one. I'll admit I enjoy this trend. Gives an individual's bag character.
Wohoo!! Super excited to see more color and childhood nostalgia inspired themes as that’s what I already have in my closet 😂 I’ve always been curious about the Greek Goddess style so excited for that too. Seems like a fun year of fashion awaits! 🎉
The tule skirts, the 80's colorful makeup, the hair adornments, the sports wear 🙌🏼🙌🏼 At the time that's so negative, this makes me have something to look forward towards and be excited about ❤
I want to see a mixture of Grecian, romanticism and medieval. Especially baroque jewelry I want to see make a comeback. Like archival looks from Christian lacroix
as someone who loves camp and kitsch in fashion I am soooo looking forward to maximalist weird fashion being on trend. love seeing people get creative. lord knows we're gonna need something fun for the eyes over the next four years
18:22 god I hope, going to the grocery store in my horse riding clothes after training has been a humiliation ritual for so long, its time to make it fashionable PLEASE
This is sooo eerie for me bcz I’ve started dressing more whimsical and having bold colorful eye make up looks and plan to generally just go more whimsical this year only to find out that fashion is heading in this direction?!!! I feel like i’m being controlled by some external force telling me what style to go for cuz its trendy not bcz i thought of it💔
I'm so STOKED for this! so much color and fun! I did a new romantics makeup look a few months back and I've been looking for ways to incorporate it more!
I’m genuinely obsessed with all of these trend predictions. They’re things I’ve liked for awhile and I’m excited and also nervous to see how they come about 🩷
I take the moderngurlz prediction video as a vision from the crystal ball💖 2025 seems super fun and I’m grateful to be able to experience another year of fashion
A few years ago I was on the hunt for a nice cape or cloak for when I had big sleeves and my coat was fitting funny, but they were hard to find and very expensive. I hope they do become more popular so that I can find a nice one second hand 🤞🤞
I looooove this list! Literally I don’t think there’s one thing I don’t like! This is gonna be my year for fashion and shopping 🛍️ I’m already planning mohair and granny sweaters to crochet 🧶
ugh i love almost all of these predicted trends like i can't wait for fun and whimsy to finally return with bright colours and flamboyance to personal style
Hey, I love deer print. And your explanation of who would wear it is right. Even if it just a quick trend I’ll be making it a staple lol AND I LOOOOVE that the renaissance hair and fashion will come back.
I FUCKING LOVE LIVING RIGHT NOW!!! In my early teens i hated fashion with all the low cut jeans and discomfort, but in the last few years i learned more about fashion history and styles and i'm THRIVING!!!! Yes I want a punk-pirate summer and dark academia autumn, yes I can't wait to be a new romantic, yes i'm gonna combine all that and some more into my own concoction and be weird and be happy af!!!!!! Thank you Modern Gurlz for your yearly predictions, you really inspire me🙏
absolutely love this series. this year i plan on buying as few new clothes as possible and learning how to make clothes myself. in 2024 i made an effort to wear what makes me feel good rather than whats trendy and it's been extremely liberating, and I'm excited to continue that this year.
Many of the trends you mentioned that are part of the 80's nostalgia cycle were also part of the inspiration of the 2010s hipster styles, specially those that had a little bit of influence from japanese harajuku scene. Gosh, I still own so many pieces that were inspired by the new romantics style, but filtered through the lenses of oshare kei, dolly kei and so on. Not only that, but 2010s millenials were obsessed with roller skating and trendy outfits to wear with your skates... I bought the whole wardrobe and never learned not to fall with my rollers lol I find it interesting cuz this past two months all I've been thinking about is how much i miss 2015 and hipsterism in all it's shapes, not only fashion but also the obsession with experiences rather than expensive items, the care for refinement and culture that used to be seen as snobbish, and the desire to be more active in political spheres. I feel like the 80's revival we're seeing is not only about the actual 80s, but about the way millenials interpreted the 80s. I also see a little bit of indie sleaze and tumblr aesthetic mixed in there. And I think all of this it's also related to how some millenials have began to fight against the idea that once you're 30 your life is over, and are trying to go back to more active participations in culture. Maybe I'm just a millenial romanticizing my teen years, but I get this feeling all of this is connected.
Thank you for mentioning Jane By Design as one of my favorite shows. Acid Wash clothes I've been rocking since high school so to see it return would be great. Plus who doesn't love Adam Ant's pirate aesthetic and Medievalism ?!
I’ve actually been wearing a lot of these upcoming trends as a way to express myself and enhance my creativity into my looks!! My favorite combos usually consist of mixing Grecian goddess inspired silhouettes in clothes with hairstyles from medieval times, like incorporating faux pearl beads and bows OR flowers into hair, so I’m really hyped to see how others expand on it!! :D
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! 😘 i can't believe this is the fifth installment of this series, where has the time gone?!?! fingers crossed that this year is even better than the last ❤

Plus, from everything I’ve collected, I can confirm that’s it was a lot better made than most things now.
Same
I love that you used photo references from at least three different characters in bbc’s Merlin
Yas! Can't wait to watch. I think the one for last year was pretty accurate. I wonder if we'll see a resurgence of whimsigoth this year
granny sweaters becoming a trend in 2025 makes so much sense after the crazy resurgence of coogi/grandpa sweaters in menswear recently.
Nina Hagen being like +5 inspo pics in the beginning without being mentioned is sending me
Wohoo!! Super excited to see more color and childhood nostalgia inspired themes as that’s what I already have in my closet 😂
I’ve always been curious about the Greek Goddess style so excited for that too. Seems like a fun year of fashion awaits! 🎉
THANK YOU MODERNGURLZ WE ALL SHOUT
The tule skirts, the 80's colorful makeup, the hair adornments, the sports wear 🙌🏼🙌🏼 At the time that's so negative, this makes me have something to look forward towards and be excited about ❤
Who would've thought that Sabrina Carpenter made the babydoll nightgown trend look good? I can't wait for it.
its also a win for shorter women and women whp don't have hourglass bodies. the baby doll dress is versatile on many bodies in my opinion
@@janaekelisgotta love clothing that defies body standards in some sort of way,
I want to see a mixture of Grecian, romanticism and medieval. Especially baroque jewelry I want to see make a comeback. Like archival looks from Christian lacroix
as someone who loves camp and kitsch in fashion I am soooo looking forward to maximalist weird fashion being on trend. love seeing people get creative. lord knows we're gonna need something fun for the eyes over the next four years
I adore your trend forecasts/analysis so much, they are always so insightful and nuanced. I look forward to them at the start of every new year haha
I’m still a bit sad pirates didn’t happen, but I’m excited to see colors going crazy
I’m stunned by how quickly time passes every time you drop one of these, it feels like yesterday that I watched the 2024 predictions
I feel like i’m being controlled by some external force telling me what style to go for cuz its trendy not bcz i thought of it💔
the victorian boot has officially came back thanks to wicked
I'm so STOKED for this! so much color and fun! I did a new romantics makeup look a few months back and I've been looking for ways to incorporate it more!
yesss been waiting for this one to drop
10:20-I can smell the pics.
I’m genuinely obsessed with all of these trend predictions. They’re things I’ve liked for awhile and I’m excited and also nervous to see how they come about 🩷
I love your series, especially the fashion prediction ones. They're one of my favorites 🔥🥰✨🩷
I’m so ready to look like a doll this whole year. Basically half of my wardrobe is pink so it’s easy lol 💞💓💘💞💝
I hope they do become more popular so that I can find a nice one second hand 🤞🤞
omg we cannot talk about New Romantic and not mention the Margiela Artisanal 2024 show
I looooove this list! Literally I don’t think there’s one thing I don’t like! This is gonna be my year for fashion and shopping 🛍️ I’m already planning mohair and granny sweaters to crochet 🧶
I’ve been waiting all year for this!!!!!
I LOVE KATSEYE 💜 0:49
ugh i love almost all of these predicted trends like i can't wait for fun and whimsy to finally return with bright colours and flamboyance to personal style
Thank you Modern Gurlz for your yearly predictions, you really inspire me🙏
I was waitinggg for this video !!!! Your predictions always hit the hardest
I’ve been waiting for this one TURN IT UP
its that time of year again (changing my whole personality based on the new moderngurlz trend predictions)
YESS FINALLY
I'm so ready
Yayyyyyy this is the video I’ve been waiting for 🎉
absolutely love this series.
this year i plan on buying as few new clothes as possible and learning how to make clothes myself. in 2024 i made an effort to wear what makes me feel good rather than whats trendy and it's been extremely liberating, and I'm excited to continue that this year.
Every year you follow everything I’m excited about wearing or have been wearing and it creeps me out every time! Lol you’re too good
Many of the trends you mentioned that are part of the 80's nostalgia cycle were also part of the inspiration of the 2010s hipster styles, specially those that had a little bit of influence from japanese harajuku scene. Gosh, I still own so many pieces that were inspired by the new romantics style, but filtered through the lenses of oshare kei, dolly kei and so on. Not only that, but 2010s millenials were obsessed with roller skating and trendy outfits to wear with your skates... I bought the whole wardrobe and never learned not to fall with my rollers lol
I find it interesting cuz this past two months all I've been thinking about is how much i miss 2015 and hipsterism in all it's shapes, not only fashion but also the obsession with experiences rather than expensive items, the care for refinement and culture that used to be seen as snobbish, and the desire to be more active in political spheres.
Maybe I'm just a millenial romanticizing my teen years, but I get this feeling all of this is connected.
i’m so excited for the poncho!! i own several and i wear them all the time in the last year or two
looove new romantic, i hope that prediction comes true
I’ve been checking TH-cam everyday for this video since January 1st, thank you so much for this ❤
Can we just get a revival of bright colors? I feel like muted colors are so overused, especially in film and television.
i have also noticed the rise of both rock chic and boho chic
