Struggle is necessary to achieve anything of value in this world. This is as true for psychological intangibles as it is for material resources. Wrestling with the angel is necessary to secure a life worth living. In this episode, I discuss how we pay the cost of anything by letting go of what is antithetical to that something. This cannot be cheated. However, expensive though it may be, it is worth it. Ultimately, you have to fight for your life.

100% correct. And I'll tell you, this episode's message isn't even Psychology, it's just reality. I learned this in my early 20's. "Anything of Value is neither free, cheap, nor easy." People who can internalize this and live it, who embrace the Struggle, who're excited by the challenge (aka difficulty), who have faith in the outcome w/o expecting a guarantee, are the Winners. The top 10% in anything and everything, got there because 90% of everyone else can't do it and that's a fact.

I have no words, this is exactly how I would describe life. Coming from the very bottom of society, I struggle with complex ptsd and I have high functioning autism (later diagnosed in adulthood). As a woman walking the earth alone particularly a black woman, I have had to understand the world around me, but the most important is how I respond to the world. Raising myself I learned lessons through trial and error. I’m still climbing for financial freedom, but internal freedom I have had to build simultaneously. I have so much peace in my life right now, when done wrong by humans, look at the lesson god wants me to have, I’m stay in control of myself, remove myself and handle whatever needs to be handled, I don’t get down anymore and think of suicide, I find solutions. I dont dwell on it, I even laugh now. I have no one physically, but for the first time in my life I’m safe, I have peace, I paid a high price for it. I broke generational curses but it took everything I had and I’m still growing.

What an incredible perspective on life and the challenges inherent in simply existing on this planet. Dr. Taraban’s explanation in this video beautifully captures the shared essence of the Abrahamic religions. These teachings strive to convey a profound message to humanity: that a universal justice by the Creator exists, and to attain true life, one must confront and purify the imperfections that come with living. This journey involves grappling with the events and trials of everyday life until one reaches the gates of divine blessing. To truly enter, it requires complete surrender and ultimate love for the divine. Thank you, Dr. Taraban-your insights deeply resonate with my current circumstances.

    • @msc8382
      @msc8382 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

That’s just what people say when they don’t know how to plan or adapt to challenges. Discomfort often comes from unpredictable things caused by others-but that only stays unpredictable if you fail to learn from it.
Real strength doesn’t come from pain or discomfort. It comes from facing the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable at first. At the start, you lack the skills and wisdom to deal with unexpected problems, but as you grow, you learn. You adapt. You create habits that make handling challenges second nature.
Eventually, discomfort fades, replaced by routine. The real danger isn’t other people-it’s an individual who’s willing to question their own beliefs to uncover the truth. That takes courage.
True strength shows up when you take that discomfort and turn it into opportunities. It’s about leadership, compassion, and even a few white lies to help others. When you adapt, the discomfort you feel is nothing compared to what others experience because they didn’t grow the way you did.
That’s where strength lies: in growth, not suffering.

    • @Boborion4
      @Boborion4 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Action is what makes a person stronger than before.
This must have a stimulating action in order to start the process. Someone can accept many truths and philosophize for all the bad things in his life but he certainly needs to start acting towards this.
The stimulus for action in this situation is discomfort and doubt.
      You can't grow without them.

The struggle of getting out of the basement of whatever issue we are dealing with is a struggle and visualization or the fall to failure is motivating to climb that fiery ladder. Or struggle with the angle for the blessing of ascending beyond out limitations. I hope more people explore 12 step programs because of this video.

this reminds me of the poem "The Man Watching" by Rainer Maria Rilke
"When we win it's with small things,
and the triumph itself makes us small.
    What is extraordinary and eternal
does not want to be bent by us.
I mean the Angel who appeared
to the wrestlers of the Old Testament:
    when the wrestlers' sinews
    grew long like metal strings,
he felt them under his fingers
    like chords of deep music.
Whoever was beaten by this Angel
(who often simply declined the fight)
    went away proud and strengthened
and great from that harsh hand,
that kneaded him as if to change his shape.
Winning does not tempt that man.
This is how he grows: by being defeated, decisively,
    by constantly greater beings."

Jacob was blessed by the Angel with a name, Isreal. Also he very much earned that blessing. Wrestling the angel was the end of a long redemption and building arc for Jacob. Even then he had to wressle the angel through the night and suffered a broken hip that he lived with the rest of his life.

Yes, I like the image of fight with an angel. That’s how life is. In life, you have to fight for everything you want. Nothing worth having comes easy. Everything important requires hard work. However, I don’t think this concept works well in a romantic relationship or any other type of relationship. Very often, when one person chases another, it creates instability. It creates a kind of imbalance where the other person loses interest. Personally, I find myself in a similar situation, where I’m putting in all the effort to win someone over. At some point, I get tired and feel like I want to stop chasing this person.
The fact that I’m the one doing all the chasing shows that their interest in me is minimal, if not nonexistent. I’m the one running after them, dancing for them like a clown, just to entertain them and hope they might accept me. That’s not the kind of dynamic I want in a relationship. That’s why I believe this approach doesn’t apply to love. If the other person doesn’t love you, why fight for them? If they truly loved you, they wouldn’t let you fight or humiliate yourself to earn their affection.

The angel in this case. You want to claim your victim. The more you want to claim your victim, the more power you yield to them. Set aside your desire for them and ask yourself what it would take for you to desire you.
Furthermore, men are masters and women are servants. No servant can be greater than their master. Would your interest have room to thrive under your rule?
Indifference is power. Love is weakness. Your love has value in perportion to the amount of indifference you could otherwise display. There is a time and a place for everything under the sun.
      Hope this helps.

"Im cooked but I'll fight for my freedom" I like that liberating mindset that zones you into what is essentially rebellion against grounded dissatisfaction, self-imposed belief that I should fold to this more "mature" worldview that is informed by pain, when it's really just desentization that leads to frigid heart and represses your authentic self, opening the door for GRANDIOSE addiction potential at one point along the path if you don't have religious faith. It's alright, I prefer to be dead and free than physically alive and a prisoner to my own mind.

Its not like people don’t enjoy achieving goals, it is that the goal posts keep getting moved! Very few young people can afford a house, or can keep serious long term relationships, etc. It almost is making a lack of inspiration crisis. The average man can’t win any more.

Enough Americans believe their house will make them wealthy and this sentiment works with anti-development crowd to make it harder to build homes. And that is why home prices keep going up. When home prices fall, many American home owners feel poorer, but this reflects the flaw in our thinking. Our homes are to live in and not to make us feel “paper” rich. All that does is to impoverish the younger generation.
As fewer children are born the demand for homes could get reduced if not offset by immigration. This could eventually cause home prices to fall.
But the better quicker way would be to vote out politicians that purport to be compassionate to the less fortunate but do everything possible for the less wealthy to buy a home. These so called “environmentalists” and anti-development advocates are actually just protecting the paper wealth of their homes. Like in many parts of California and areas dominated by democratic voters that think well of themselves are actually hypocrites of the worst kind.

The lesson is Jacob didn't find his purpose while he was running from God, it was when he fought to persevere in supplication toward God that he received his new name and came to realize his destiny. If you just try to fight for what you want,, you're missing the point. You need to grapple with GOD and only then will you receive His blessing
