Loving the vids. We Malaysian, when we eat rice usually we mix all of it together in one bite, so the saltiness of the anchovies balanced by the rice and sweetness from the sambal ( that red oily chilli sauce). It is hard to do with spoon and fork, but here the tips i can share on how to get everything in one bite. Take a bit of the sambal sauce using the spoon, then scoop the rice and protein if the protein in bite size like the anchovies. If the protein is hard to cut into chunks like that fried chicken, eat the protein first eith a fork, then proceed eating the rice with the sauce. If you already know then ignore this hahahahaa. Just excited seeing others eating Malaysian food and all I want that u guys experience it as we Malaysian do. Anyhow, enjoy your stay here in Malaysia

The reason that the nasi lemak chilli is dark red is because dried chillis are used. Dried chillis have a roasty aroma. You should try Marrybrown, that's a Malaysian brand fastfood. The other burger to try is ramly burger that can be found on the streets. You can customize your ramly burger.

We Malaysians finds it funny when foreigners eat the Nasi lemak condiments separately...you're supposed to mix everything and get a perfect bite that has everything in a spoon or use your hands (using your fingers) and push the perfect bite with your thumb (if you're eating with hands) into your mouth.
Most Malaysian food has to be mixed before eating, only then will you be able to taste the flavour bomb of that particular dish. The sambal can be gradually mixed in according to how much you want the heat to be...stay safe and welcome to Malaysia ❤

that's anchovy and usually it's a must have for nasi lemak. Usually you eat it with rice and sambal and a little bit of the anchovy and wallaaaa, you'll get a nice combination of flavour there (salty and crispy from the achovy, spicyness and a little bit of sweetness, and then rice just to make all the taste milder and full_.... :) do explore slowly and enjoy the wide variety of food all over Malaysia... ;) and the sambal is the red thing you dip with your chicken, usually we mix the sambal with the rice, and then with whatever you like, such as the fried chicken or the fried egg...

it's really enjoyable to know that each of you are open to trying out new foodies around the world. Your son has a unique prep for his nasi lemak (in a good way!!!) and i'd say that he's eating it right...spoonful/handful of rice together with some chicken, egg, fried anchovies and cucumber if available. The sambal should go together to complete the flavorful bite of nasi lemak. By the way, that sambal is generally made of dried chilli, onion, garlic, fried anchovies, salt and sugar...all grinded together. And it's true, mcD in most countries i've visited, chilli sauce are non-existent...they complement really well with the fries and spicy ayam goreng mcD !!!

McDonalds and every other fast food chain in Malaysia has unique recipes that differ from their parent company. Thats what makes the fast food chains in Malaysia unique. Both KFC and McDonalds Malaysia were voted best chains in the world by their respective parent organizations for their creativity, taste and quality of food.

To be exact, our malaysian version of anchovies called indian anchovies or japanese anchovies internationally. Proper anchovies is small salted fish.

you're supposed to eat the nasi lemak together 😂 like everything, the rice, eggs, the anchovies, sambal and chicken all in one bite to get a taste of it all, if its just separately, it will be really salted each

The fish is actually not fried fish skin but deep fried small anchovies and used in nasi lemak. the Rahmah menu is not a ramadhan menu but one which is to cater for affordability. the SSO is actually the Malaysian word for "sauce". The sauce you saw in th containers is actually sambal for the rice and comes with nasi lemak.

Malaysian here. When I read the title, I was making sure if you guys were trying the chicken or not. Turned out you guys really did it. I've always with the chicken since 15 years ago, it's only been popularized like 5-6 years ago. If you add the chicken + chilli sauce, that's another flavour bomb.

Welcome to Malaysia🥰 Mcdonald's in our country is quite different to encourage foreigners to eat our national dish; Nasi Lemak. The chili sauce (sambal) is eaten with the rice, chicken, egg and anchovies in one bite. Basically, a nice healthy bold and stuffy dish

The Nasi Lemak (Coconut Rice) we eat it with the sambal (the one with small cup) including the fried egg + Chicken. That’s Malaysian way to eat. Not dip with the chicken. Explore more our culture and our foods here. You gonna love it. Every in our state have their own signature dish. Enjoy!

With nasi lemak, you have to mix it all in. You get the flavor of rice, spicy or sweet sambal, the saltyness of anchovies, the nutty peanuts and of course any additional stuff like at mcd it's fried chicken. Then cucumber in between as taste bud 'refresher'. That's the best thing about nasi lemak. But loving the review! Your kids are like seasoned for reviewer/critiques haha Stumbled upon your video randomly and I enjoyed your review. The foldover and prosperity burger (in black pepper sauce during chinese new year season) are Malaysians' most fave seasonal menu. Hope you guys dropped by my city Ipoh, for an even better food experience ;)
