I so admire My dad was stuck in Galiopi. He never spoke about the war . Just once he showed me a scar from knee to ankle . He said his best fried lying beside him was killed. I adored him . He was a doctor, a journalist and later a man I loved all my life. My heart is aching he died when I was 24 . I’m 82 now and had a good life but he was a brilliant father.
Thanks for the excellent documentary. Didnt know of his prolific writing and the Nobel prize. Probably the best example from the British upper class living a full and meaningful life transitioning from the Victorian era into the 20th century. I liked John Lithgows' interpretation of him in 'The Crown".
Greatest Englishman....glad hes not here to see England today...thank you for saving England and forgive us for allowing it to deteriorate to the state it's in today....the one and only mp I've got anytime for is Alicia Kearns...through tears I have to confirm England has fallen....
There's a high school in my city that was built in 1955 and named in Churchill's honour. There is a bronze bust of the man as well as a letter from him to the school stating his appreciation of the naming, on display in the school office. There is also a town on Hudson Bay named in honour of his ancestor, the Duke of Marlborough. The town is also famous for its polar bear population.
Churchill was indeed an uncommon wellbeing. He was a contradictory man who thought that people are not equals no matter their race, religion and beliefs, but at the same time always fought for peace! Truly a man to admire!
My wife is willing to work for another 5 years if needed. Are we in good shape? Will we be okay if I begin withdrawing from Social Security when I'm 41 and my wife is 40? Should we hire a financial planner to help us navigate this?
These are crucial questions for a financial planner. I met mine at a NYSE summit, and with her help, my wife and I reallocated our $1.7M portfolio between a traditional IRA and a brokerage account. She's been making investments with our approval and has helped us recover twice our losses. We're holding steady and carefully navigating more markets
My favorite Churchill quote when he was encouraging the U.S. to help when they were being bombed by the Germans was - "Americans can always be depended upon to do the right thing, after they have exhausted every other possibility". It's as true today as it was in the 1943.
Nah, we rarely do the "right" thing. USA policy is about what benefits rich people, oligarchs, not so much about right or wrong. Still, a great quote either way.
I always love the fact that, Canada always ignored,, the merchant navy that moved tons of food, arms, oil etc. That the soldiers of Canada, Australia, and other colonies had fought and died in 1WW,long before the US came in without your colonies, the UK might not have been a place to lead any WW2 flight against Hitler's Nazis. Just saying 🇨🇦
People here in the United Kingdom have heard about the bravery and utterly brilliant soldiering of the rest of the empire and as a child I never tired of hearing about men I thought must have been so incredibly brave to fight against the Nazis because on paper they were better than us but Canadian people are well thought of here along with the rest of the commonwealth and like I said as children we would be very happy to hear that Canadian soldiers were amongst the very best in the world and we are lucky to have them as friends
@@marblackCanada they tried it before right! But they conveniently forgot about that and say they win something but Canada wasn’t like Mexico and the Canucks as well as some people from these islands did burn the White House or something like that it’s all a bit of a mystery here in the U.K. because we’re not all that interested in the USA and their version of history
@AlunDavies-tm2lt I know, their origin story is this great epic battle against the great evil King George3rd.Tax without representation, freedom, and all that jazz. I think George and Parliament were much more worried about the French, always the French. It is true that in the war of 1812, the British troops, after driving the Americans out of what is now 🇨🇦 did burn the White House. It's special, I guess. Spell check says it must have capital letters.lol Have a good day.

@melissaallen6914 "We?" I didn't cause the death of one person, let alone millions. I also didn't (maybe) save the world from totalitarianism. I like living in a world where we can point this stuff out, when that has absolutely not always been the case.
Winston Churchill was a fascinating figure, renowned for his inspiring speeches, leadership, and visionary ideas. While his legacy includes some contentious imperialist and racial views, his contributions during critical times also spark important discussions about history and leadership.
does anybody remember the episode of the TV show family Guy where Peter does his so-called Winston Churchill impersonation. he says in the most non British accent ever, I like tea and crumpets because I am Winston Churchill. and that was literally the extent of the so-called impersonation. 😂
Only a short way in I am disappointed. You failed to mention Winston suffered back pain all his life from a fall from a horse hence taking alcohol. Also he was very in love with a woman called Elizabeth. She loved him as a friend and I believe helped him with a slight speech impediment. She would not Marry him hence Clemmy not his first choice. I admire him greatly . No one is perfect but he was close.
Im from the US and believe u r delusional. I think u mea t the SOVIET UNION. They r the ones who died in ( 10X) the numbers the western allies did. Yes we gave them so.e supplies but those were people.
I can't say I am a fan. Yes, he led Britain through WWII, but I understand why they booted him immediately after. The British had their food rationed until the late 1950s and Churchill did not support the social programs the country needed to get back on its feet and remain there. He was a great wartime PM, but would have made a terrible peacetime PM.
If Churchill hadn't convinced England to fight on, in 1940. Germany never could have defeated the Soviet Union. As Germany had no transportation to pursue deep into Russia, beyond Moscow and the Volga River.

wow this awesome I'm 41 and have been looking for ways to be successful, please how??
No one likes market risk, but without longer retirement, taking on risk is often a necessary evil to compensate for inflation
