MTV in the 90's wasn't a good thing. KEXP is more like the Peel Sessions from 70's 80's, but unlike Peel, there's very little opinion shared by the host/hostess, which is a good thing. IMO ;)
Who ever is engineering sound for KEXP is an absolute Legend. The live sound from this studio is just amazing. Not just Amyl, but everything I've every heard on KEXP.
I have said the same thing for years, the best advice you could give to a new band these days would be, get yourself into the KEXP studio, it's probably the best way to record your music, in the best sounding way possible.
Was on the doc film team when they supported Greenday at the millennium. Just about to go into the pit to check a few things and Amy came up behind me , I turned around and she had the biggest beaming smile on her face , I was in her way , a quick "cheers mate " and I made way . She went on and absolutely killed it . Cant even start to explain her energy , like mentos and cola nuclear grade AAA+ hectic. Punk rock is alive and well in this band and Amy as pure as at its source .
You can really tell that Cheryl genuinely likes the music. Music in general. She’s such a treasure. Comfortable presenting and interviewing performers of all sorts of genres. Quickly disarming and putting at ease even the most necessarily eccentric tough while fragile , artistic souls.

Meh, there is definitely better. Just sounds like they're emulating the late 70s. Not fresh or innovative. Been done before. The singer doesn't have much charisma too. Maybe a true live show would be better. I could take it or leave it. Perhaps a good opening act..
I think her lyrics on the Comfort To Me album are top tier. Her phrasing is perfect and she's tackling subjects with both seriousness and humour often in the same song

I love the dynamics and intensity of this band. I also dig how they're so in-tuned to each other both musically and personally, that you can really hear it in their music.
Amyl and the IDLES are my absolute new dream bands. I saw the IDLES Oct '21 in San Antonio, TX and I hope to see Amyl and the Sniffers live. Thanks to KEXP for playing the best new bands.

A child or someone not wishing to hear may encounter the content , perhaps by accident just flipping around the dial . Amy is a fantastic lyricist as well as being an explosive ball of of a performer. As an old bloke the first time I saw them I though there’s something going on there, then the tracks like covered in Angels appeared Ind I was enthralled at the idea of philosophical punk lyrics. Amy exposes her inner self and strengths and weaknesses in her work. The band musically work very well together. And I reckon they’re the best thing out of Australia since the Saints.
They're so tight and together now after this constant touring. Impressive. Hope they'll keep this energy with time passing by. And Amy is an icon. An anti-icon but an icon.

They've been the best band that i've heard, thanks to the KEXP, in the last years; they make me feel well and bring me back to life, Amyl & The Sniffers it's now and for ever one of my favourite punk bands of all times.
I think much better than Tiny Desk, which is more aimed at capturing a stripped back, more retrained and semi-“unplugged” essence and emphasizing the songwriting. I much prefer how KEXP captures the intensity and energy of a band’s live performance but with the mixing and overall sound quality of a studio.
"Trackie-daks" a woman after my own heart! I just love her so much as a fellow country girl, god it makes me so tickled to hear my accent amongst a sea of artists from the US. Love from the Yugambeh language region!
These guys are so badass. I was lucky enough to see them open for King Giz in Portland a few years ago. My buddies drove out from Minnesota to visit me, and we dosed some powerful acid and went to that show. Seeeeeeerious business.
I've been following this band for about two years now and they never disappoint, even performing before no live audience. If you've never seen them before, this performance by Amy was pretty retrained.
The confidence in the singer is next level. The band is so well rehearsed they wont fuck up. I tried so hard to convay that to my band mates, RIP THE STRAINS
Saw this band live back in 2019 as opener for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, felt like a weird choice as support except for both bands being VERY difficult to imagine coming from anywhere else than Australia, extremely entertaining in any case.

It’s absolutely extraordinary, I can compare their energy only to AC/DC if we talking Aussie bands. As a Sydneysider I could tell straight away that this band is from Melbourne, it can’t be our glamorous-so-to-speak nowadays Sydney and sure thing, when I checked where are this incredible band from, it was Melbourne! Can’t wait to see them live and slam within the crowd 😅

Having watched quite a few KEXP sessions I must say the sound mix is usually spot on .
De las mejores bandas actuales que existen actualmente que bueno verlos de regreso en kexp , nunca me cansaré de escuchar cada una de sus canciones , que bueno que el punk nunca muere y ofrece este tipo de bandas 🤘🏻
