- Decided to change all my previous Top 5 Best Duels videos into Top 10 Lists! So kicking that off is the one I started with about 2 years ago, Yugioh GX! I hope you guys enjoy the video and please leave all your thoughts and your lists down below! :)

Gx is one my favorite yugioh shows but why build a school next to an active volcano.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since GX ended. Time passed by so fast.
I don't hate any mechanics though. Each era has their own appeal and uniqueness. The game would be boring if there were no changes imo.
Honestly, every Summoning method bar Links expanded the game, made strides and invented new strategies that could be relied upon for fun. Synchro made the Levels of individual monsters matter, Xyz made temporary removal effects have relevance, Pendulums made running a bunch of high-Level Main Deck monsters relevant again . . . Links actually went back and *invalidated* some old strategies, rather than adding anything new in their own right (I don't count column and placement mechanics, because no relevant Link Deck actually cares about placement beyond a bunch of co-links).
Nameless Anonymous changes are one thing, balancing the other. Before inventing completely new mechanics, they should've made older mechanics like ritual a bit more popular and balancing it a bit more. I'm wondering if nowadays kids even know about ritual summoning.
XYZ also made 4 stars monsters too much op. Just choose 2 of whatever you want and you can beat the crap out of a 7-9 star monster, which in fact isn't balanced at all. Not to mention that you also need a number card to destroy your enemies number card...
Pendulum only supported XYZ summoning, which made XYZ even more OP

Nah, the true number 1 is Judai Vs. tennis dude. The conflict, emotion and personallity of that duel will always be remembered.
I'm gonna throw an suggestion here: what about an video about the afterlife in Yu-Gi-Oh? The franchise treats it in a interesting way. You can be reborn in the Astral or Barian world. Become a duel monster. Go to hell. Live in your own reallity (like Atem at the end of DSoD). Become a ghost. Live inside objects or people. And the list goes on.

Nobody mentioning the duel which birthed Hell Kaiser? Seriously watching him go from already hitting rock bottom, to being worn down by both psychological and physical torture, only to snap and become such a ruthless character was quite a disturbing moment in a show that is also for kids.
Jaden vs Belowski was top tier
I think Edo(Aster) vs Judai(Jaden) in Season 2. (I mean their second duel,the one that Judai loses) deserves a spot in the Top 5
Their first one was great as well I mean Jaden lost it would’ve been amazing to see a rematch with plasma
I actually really love all of Jim "Crocodile" Cook's duels. Jim I think is one of the most under-rated characters from GX, and honestly, and I never thought I would say this when I was a kid, but he's my personal favorite character from GX. I love his deck, how freaking powerful all of his cards are and how tactical and strategic he is with his moves and how he uses his opponents owns monsters against them. But I also just love his personality; he's just an honest to God awesome and nice guy. He could be funny, he could be lighthearted and having fun, he could be serious, he could be insightful and really deep, he could pretty much do it all. I just remember watching his duel with the Supreme King and seeing how hard he was fight to set his "dear friend" free, and thinking to myself "How did I ever not really like this guy as a kid? I never hated him but I never liked him that much either, but OMG, Jim is AWESOME!" LOL. :) Makes me really sad that we never got to see more duels from him in Season 3 or didn't see him at all in Season 4, or that he never got his own booster pack. It's really surprising how many of his cards have never been published actually, it's really a shame.
Jim vs supreme king is my favourite duel in any of yugioh, Jim is just a great friend risking everything to save his friend and nearly pulling it off with an amazing deck. And we’re getting his cards at last!
He should’ve returned in season 4 though there’s lots of plot holes in GX
Ryo vs Yubel has no reason to be as amazing as it was when I first watched it! Like, my god! It was perfect!

Same Ryu/Zane is one of my favourite characters in Yu-Gi-Oh GX. That duel you put at number one always squeezed my heart cuz we know he was in a terrible condition and when he did die we know that a great duelist had been lost. As mentioned the only person who didn’t lose to Judai/Jaden. Such badassary right there. But definitely some of these duels are in my favs of GX.

Jaden vs Amnel is criminally underrated, Amnel push Jaden into his limits like no one and the resolution of that duel always puts a tear in my eye.

well attacking slifer with neos with nothing in the deck, GY or hand to help and the fact that he mentions Yugi teaching him something brings the series full circle and implies a loss (he wouldn't mention him teaching him something if he won ofc)

One of my absolute favourites is a chazz versus his brother slade, kaiba cameo , character development of Chazz and such a high handicap

One of my favs is Camula Vs Ryo (Zane). Loved how Ryo controled the duel and she had to fucking cheat to defeat him, also Ryo's sacrifice for his brother was moving, since he (until that point) had being a rel dick to sho (Syrus)

SUCH A THROWBACK
It was because of your video about everything the dub changed to GX that I started watching it (subbed). Season 3 was so intense, I loved it! It was so dark and full of emotion. I'm almost done with season 4, so I won't watch the video quite yet to not spoil anything haha, but I'll be back once I'm done. Some of my favorite duels so far have been Hell Kaiser Ryo vs Johan (Yubel), Judai vs Saio (the first one), Obrien vs The Supreme King and Judai vs Yubel.

Judai vs Kagurazaka (the guy who steals Yugi's deck).
This duel was awesome, I would have never dreamed the ceremonial duel would be against Yugi, so this was the closest we were going to get. I love it.
Ryo vs Sho
I LOVE Hell Kaiser. I know you normally don't like when characters go "dark", but I loved every minute of Ryo. And this duel was... OMG, so cool. It just showed his was totally obsessed with victory. It was brutal. And when he uses Power Wall... Still one of my favorite moments ever xD That disrespect for his own cards was priceless. I always imagine fangirls gather around him to pick up the cards xD
O'Brien vs Trueman
This was one the best duels I've ever seen in YGO! It was so well done. So unconfortable, kinda creepy, sad, and dark. I'm a little surprised it's not on your list. All the psychological games in this duel were really awesome. I think the writers kind of took a step back of were a little afraid of going all out with that ending (O'Brien's mom fate), but still it was a great duel.
Well, those are some of my favorite in no special order. One random duel I also liked was Judai vs the guy with the cursed hand who used a One-Turn Kill deck or something like that.
And yes, Hell Kaiser is the best nickname ever xD
I guess any duel with Saiou was awesome too, just because of him having DIO's seiyuu xD

This was beautiful. Great picks. Even though i am a Judai/elemental hero fan for life, i gotta admit that Kaiser's fight against Johan was just too good to not be treated as the greatest GX duel and perhaps even one of the greatest anime duels of all time.

Nostalgia!!! Great duels!!!
one of my favourite duels was cyrus vs the jinzo user, watching cyrus not only master zanes deck but also having zane acknowledge that he has surpassed him and just overall everything to do with there development and story together was just lovely and awesome too see plus the duel though short was still awesome in my opinion and have that cyber vs pscho style rivalry just added that little extra too it.
One of my favorite duels is Zane vs mad dog. The reason for that is Zane’s transformation from a duelist who respects his opponent to a ruthless duelist.
I hated that duel only because of his infuriating voice in the dub.

Aster vs the D is one of my favorites in GX.
That one and Aster vs. Jaden both times and Aster vs. Zane.

I really think the duel between Johan (Yubel) and Amon is one of the greatest duels in the entire show. The fact that we have two non-good-protagonists (and everything seems to display that those two are villains, actually), to use the Phantom Beasts and Armityle the Chaos Phantomas well as Exodia... For me, it is the duel I've most enjoyed watching!
No mention of Syrus! His duel against Zane and in season 4 against Makoto show how much he changed. From a student lacking confidence to the blue Obelisk he became handling Power Bing correctly!
GX has become a new fave lately. I absolutely love Yubel and her duel against Kaiser was epic though a personal fave is when Johan/Yubel duels Amon (Adrian Gecko) the ending is intense and I love ir

Yugioh Gx had great duels Aster vs Jaden rematch was great..... Adrian vs Yubel was also Epic (Fog castle and Fog King Combo)
gx is my favorite season of yugioh i love it althought i have to admit that you used alot of duels in season 4 not that thay are not good but still manjoume vs judai for the schools battle was an insane duel plus great character development for manjume plus aster vs judai the second time was also worth for the top 10 but still a great list good job keep up :D
I'm surprised you didn't like a lot of season 1 duels. Jaden vs Dimitri, Jaden vs Bastion, Jaden vs Kaibaman and Jaden vs Chazz pt 2 were amazing. Chazz's duel against his brothers was great too. I'm also surprised a lot of duels didn't make it here. Jaden vs Aster, Chazz vs Aster, Jaden battling 2 F.G.D., the Tag duel tournament, Jaden vs Jesse-Yubel, Jaden vs Yubel, Jaden vs Viper, Jaden vs Satorius (pt 1 and pt 2) etc. If you notice, a lot of duels in GX never go past 2 episodes. Rarely did they do 3 episode duels. I think that was because DM got a lot of criticism for such long duels (remember reading it in some magazine). I would also add the duel between Axel vs Trueman to the list. IMO the BEST story telling and card play a duel has ever had. I love it when duels tell a story, and each card was part of the story. Also seeing someone has hardened as Axel be psychologically tortured was just heart breaking. Overall, GX is still my absolute number 1 favorite yugioh show and Jaden is still my absolute favorite yugioh character (and one of the 3 only good dubs in Yugioh, DM and 5Ds being the other 2)
Dmitri was such a fun character, who had a pretty interesting Duel concept, and it would have been amazing if he were a recurring character.

not really. most were either situational or unreliable. And let's not forget that they get back to visit grandma after the turn is over
Eric Lewis yeah but neos space doesn't really do much and INS is bricky as hell. Also Neo Wisemen is a tribute monster in real life so
yeah, and we don't. it doesn;t help that it's a level 7 normal monster, making the best way to get it out the banned Daigusto Emeral (Daigusto Emeral is a Neospacian, pass it on) or Ancient Rules.

Judai Yuki there's a chance, I mean they gave Vampire's a xmas gift in 2018. So maybe we can get Neos support with the new ShapeSnatch link monster (mark my wordsm it's coming)
You should do Top 10 minor villains as there’s plenty that don’t get recognition.
For me a few duels I enjoyed watching over and over again was Zane vs Camula, (now if you wanna talk about deep emotional duels) Supreme King vs Axel and Syrus vs Zane (Syrus put on one of his best performances against his brother. The moment he questioned to stop respecting him was as intense as anything seen since we all know the love Syrus has for his brother). Another duel though more of an honorable mention was Chumley vs Crowler. He was so very close to winning and shown such growth that I wished they brought him back to duel more.

Oh yeah Cyrus vs Zane was really good. But what about Sho using the Cyberdark Roid Deck. I’m so glad that you put the Chronos Duel in the list and at least mentioned Chazz vs Aster. Those three duels are always the ones I will come back to and watch whenever I just fancy watching some yugioh
I love Yugi vs Jaden Rap Battle
LOL there rap battle is as good as the duel
My fave is Crowler vs Camula, on account of how he steps up and yells at her that if she wants to get to the students she needs to go through him first. A great moment.
I love Fujiwara’s Clear World deck
It’s one of the decks i want to be printed the most, preferably with some major buffs and new cards to make it valid at least in modern casual duels, but honestly i’d even take a direct printing at this point. Clear World has one of my favorite effects in the game, and when I finally watched GX season 4 and saw there was an entire archetype based around it made me so happy

Honestly, a great list that I agree with for the most part, though it did miss out a few of my favourites at the same time.
Episode 164- The Inherited Cyberdark Dragon- is easily one of my favourites which, okay, might be because I'm extremely biased when it comes to the Marufuji brothers and Shou in particular. I can't say I've watched the episode in recent days so I can't remember how good the actual duel was (weird, seeing as I'm stating it as one of my favourite duels) but I find the story behind it rather engaging and I think it rounds off both Shou and Ryou's character arc pretty well, while also setting up Shou's goal for the future which is brought up much later. I think that the selling point for it is mainly the way it's executed and the emotional weight behind it though I do think that if you don't like Shou all too much then it probably wouldn't do for others what it did to me.
Episode 162- Judai VS Asuka! A Set Card Full of Hidden Feelings- is another one I really enjoy, again, more so because of the emotional weight and the character motivations. It's also quite a pivotal area in rounding off Judai's character arc, plus, I love Asuka. I can't say I was ever fond of the whole Judai/Asuka thing, but I don't mind how it was rounded off since I'm glad they actually rounded it off instead of leaving it while also telling us about Asuka's goal for the future. I think it's a duel in which Asuka really shines and that kind of highlights what the backlash of season three is doing a bit more. Like, yeah, we knew that Judai was acting way differently. He was a recluse and a lot more serious, but this is the first time it's highlighted that it's put into view how it effects not only the strain it's putting on some others but also how it's affected his dueling.
Episode 142 and 143- The Victor is Righteous! The Supreme King VS O'Brien and Volcanic Devil VS The Vilest Evil Hero respectively. Again, probably my bias because Austin is also one of my favourite characters but I mean, talking pivotal moments, jeez. It's kind of hard to explain why it's one of my favourites other than it's so fun? It also rounds off the Supreme King reign, rounds off Austin's character arc (for the season), rounds off what Jim set in place and so on.
Episode 50- Hayato VS Cronos! Ayers Rock Sunrise!-'s duel between Hayato and Cronos is my favourite duel between season one and two both and I think that while it's sad that they decided to write Hayato out of the show (and never mention him again) I don't mind the way they sent him off and I think it's also a good point of contrast between the start of season one Cronos and the end as I personally find it hard to believe that Cronos would've let Hayato 'pass' even though he lost should he still retain the mentality he did at the start. Going back, I think it's a good way to write out Hayato as it ensures that he has a future even if we'll never see it and makes the illusion that he's going to exist outside of the main story. People complain about Misawa deserving better but so did Hayato, mind you, at least one got a proper conclusion to their character arc.
Honestly though, the only tragedy of your list I find, personally, comes from the lack of SAL from episode 13 as an honorable mention for who can forget the most pivotal moment in the series in which Judai fights a duel monkey.

Kaiser v Johan(Yubel) is my favorite as well. Cyber Dragon is personally my favorite deck. Another reason I think thst duel was great was the setting. The lighting and barren landscape oddly complimented the duel and made it feel even more epic. Nothing else in the world to focus on save Hell Kaiser Ryo's final duel for glory against his ultimate opponent.

Ok so I’m just gonna do a top five for GX really quick bc why not
5. Sho v. Ryo (Season 2) - It was honestly such an emotional duel for me to watch. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time because it was such a close duel. I thought Sho was going to win for a while tbh.
4- Judai v. Ryo (Season 1) - the exact same reasoning you had. It was such a good duel and I was never exactly sure who I thought was going to win.
3- Judai v. Brron (Season 3) - again, such an emotional duel! It was really a key moment for not just Judai’s character arc, but for the entire series.
2. Johan/Yubel v. Ryo (Season 3) - Such 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 good 👏🏼 duel 👏🏼!! I cried, tried not to laugh at the sad (yet actually hilarious) puns that were made, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was just soooo amazing and it kinda made me wish I’d get to see more of Yubel being evil...
1. Johan/Yubel v. Judai - I have one thing to say about this duel: Freaking amazing! The way Judai was able to free Johan from Yubel never fails to make me cry tears of joy and sadness simultaneously. And of course, I also love it for Rainbow Dark Dragon.

Judai vs Rei, "marriage" deck was priceless XD.
The yugi jaden duel wasn't meant to have an ending. At the start it was a duel to win. But when yugi summoned slifer if jaden ended his turn without attacking it would have returned to the grave and the duel would go on. At that point jaden realised he has gotten back what he lost and realised, this was the reason of the duel so attacked and lost on purpose. It wasn't meant to have a winner, only to help jaden get back the fun mood and remember that duels are ultimately about having fun like he was in season 1. After 4 seasons he became depressed that duels are always crucial and he needed to win as someone's life was on the line.
Yugi won easily that duel, because the anime dark renewal card does not read special summon so osiris won't return to gy. And Yugi could have used the 1000 knives on neos to win in the first turns.
Judai vs atticus(nightshroud) round 2. In this duel asuka hates judai,nightshroud returns and wants revenge on judai, atticus put him self in such a danger, nightshroud almost defeated judai,the second duel was more epic then the first one and last but not least THIS AMAZING BATLLE RETURNED ONE OF THE SHADOW RIDERS TO DUEL THE MAN WHO DEFEATED HIM!!!!! And the duel was maby the most epic duel in those yugioh series.........
Having rewatched Season 3 and 4 recently, those are the Duels I have the most vivid memories of. There are a lot of Judai Duels in this, probably because I really love Judai deep inside, and there aren't any Hell Kaiser Duel because, on the other hand, I don't like that character as much as other people seem to.
8 : Judai vs Asuka from the Society of Light. Season 2. I totally agree with you on this, this Duel is amazing and much more interesting than the previous version. I remember watching this as a kid and being petrified looking at what Asuka became after being brain-washed, it was truly scary.
7 : Judai vs Thelonius Viper. Season 3. I watched this in dub, mind you, and the dub version is so much better with the uncensored backstory of Viper and his actual death. Viper is a character I would have loved seen more developped, and his Deck as well. The Duel was very immersive, and knowing how much of a threat Venominaga is if she gets on the Field, it was amazing seeing Jaden break it down.
6: Jim vs Haoh. Season 3. I love the side characters of GX, especially the insert students. Jim is terrifying in the manga, but the anime version was a bit left behind. The real interest of that Duel is not Jim, it is to show powerful and terrifying how Haoh, or Supreme King, is. O'Brien leaving his fallen comrade in tears, after so much hope has been put into Jim's last trick, which ended up being for naught, was to me one of the most dreadful parts of the whole GX anime.
5 : Judai vs Saioh. Season 4. I'm gonna be honest, Saioh's reappearance in Season 4 was a bit disappointing. But the strategy he used in the Duel is actually so evil, and pretty unprecedented in the Yu Gi Oh series. Sure, Weevil is a thing, but Weevil didn't go for actually milling the opponent, which is a really cheap tactic, or was before the GY became so important. Great strategy for a character I love.
4 : Judai vs Amnael. Season 1. Season & doesn't get enough love, and Amnael doesn't get much more. Amnael was such a weird plot-twist, but it somehow worked for me. The Duel is amazing, with Amnael using smart references of alchemy everywhere. It's also what I feel is one of the best looking Duels in GX. I'm sad it isn't the final Duel of GX, because that would have meant much more development for Amnael and his way of Dueling.
3 : O'Brien vs Darkness. Season 4. Holy shit, where to begin ? First, mirror Duel. That rarely happens in the anime. Second, Volcanics everywhere means lots of burn and destruction, which makes for a very chaotic Duel. Third, the stakes. It's Season 4 and the stakes are high, like you mentionned. It's hard to believe that the entire world was sliding into Darkness, but even at that point in the show, it felt like the inveitable would happen. But then, O'Brien's backstory, and Volcanic Queen. Have I mentionned I love the insert students ? O'Brien's backstory is so harsh on him, Volcanic Queen is such a brutal reminder of how Darkness can manipulate people. Great Duel, great stakes, great characters and that little bonus GX savagery.
2 : Judai vs Darkness. Season 4. Honestly what I believe to be the final Duel of GX. Darkness is an amazing opponent, with once again a zany deck with a weird strategy, the brutality you would expect from him, and the lore that goes with it. I really wish more of his cards were adapted to the real card game, because I would really play that kind of Deck. Seeing the side characters trapped in Darkness was dramatic and dreadful : what if it happened to you ? But Judai utilizing his Deck the best way he can, bringing out 2 heavy HERO Boss monsters, one of which being in combination with the previous villain, was amazing. Darkness is one of my favortie YGO villains, and this Duel makes honor to him.
1 : Judai vs Yubel. Season 3. It might be only nostalgy, but I love this Duel so much. Yubel was truly a monster to beat, with underhanded tactics and a Deck full of 0 ATK monsters. Learning the backstory of Yubel, her connection to Judai, and see Judai pardon her and re-unite with her was marvelous. But I think the one best thing that this Duel did was ending the Show in the US and Europe. It was an end that was charged with so many emotions, the lasting impression of a true end of the series after a duel that was at the pinnacle of what a Duel could offer. I don't mind Season 4, I think it's one of my favorite YGO anime segments, but goddamn, I was almost in tears at home after the end of the Duel. The first reason I rewatched Season 3 was to experience that Duel again, and never a final Duel in a YGO show has put me into such emotions.

I wish it would happend after the duel against Darkness so it could absolutly finished Judais schoollife so that the emotion would be even more intense. But exept this this duel is and would ever be my all time favorite duel in all of GX)

8:05 smth like that did happen in 5D's in the duel between Jack and Dragan in the WRGP cuz they both had the same hands as their previous, interrupted duel due to the appearance of Red demon's and Thor. also ended up making similar plays too

Just any duel featuring Zane apart from the underground duels. I mean the first duel was marvelous. The graduation match duel was beautiful. Zane's last duel is a tear gerker. Especially his last words to cyrus

I love GX and I think the duel between Jaden and X/Howard X Miller in episode 72 was amazing, not sure if top 10 but it's a "small" duel that was just really really good. A truly amazing deckout-focused duel.
Also, how did the Jaden vs Sartorius duel at the end of season 2 not make the top? That one was mind-blowing. And also the duel they had in season 4 was amazing, surprised they didn't make the top.

I personally loved Crowler vs Chumley. It was a really emotional duel man, I thought Chumley wouldn't get to fraduate and I was sad.
