absolutely agree. whether people love him or hate him this whole story from start to finish revolves around him. his tragic past that led to him becoming the greatest and most iconic villian in cinema history (alongside heath ledger’s joker ofc), THE CHOSEN ONE, his love story with padme, only wish it could’ve ended some other way they deserved so much better🥺.. truly my favorite character of all time whether as anakin skywalker or darth vader.
Can I just say that Maul (thanks to The Clone Wars) enjoyed one of the greatest character revivals in cinema history, he went from a side villain with only two scenes of dialogue to one of the best characters in Star Wars

Yea man I'm hella glad Ewan Mcgregor is coming back cuz he was without a doubt the best thing about the prequels(which unlike most people I've loved the prequels since they were first released) even though theres numerous characters from the prequels that i like or love Ewan was the best without even trying..Darth Maul is probably my favorite villain from the whole series
@@dontturnaround9592 palps 2nd for sure, the guy tricked the entire galaxy and literally ruled it without ppl realising with dooku in the CIS and palps being the senate
@@1esteemed5 Yeah Ik he's probably the third best movie villain of all time too. But Maul is actually my favorite Star Wars character though even if he's not the best. I just love Sam Witwer's voice and Maul's character arc is genius.
Of course Darth Vader was number one. The entire Skywalker saga was about him. The Prequels were his early life and fall to the dark. The OT was his late life and redemption and the sequels were about his Legacy. Greatest Star Wars character ever. Without him Star Wars wouldn’t be at all what it is
@@applejuicejunkie316 I get that they did more impressive things but I liked her character more. She wasn't some all powerful chosen one destined to defeat evil yet she beat Darth Maul on her own and led an assault on Mandalore when she was 18. She helped build the Rebellion at 19. And the way she stood up for her beliefs against the Jedi Council was amazing. I loved watching her grow into that person who worked hard to do what was right. I just felt that Ahsoka was the one who showed the world what a true Jedi was while the others were playing politics.
Kanaan Jarrus/ Caleb Dune should have been in the honorable mentions. Dude was an untrained Padawan and became a full fledge Jedi and trained another to protect the galaxy. I love that character and he should be mentioned or talked about more.
Padme should have been on this list. Her smarts and Nobel acts throughout the prequels are just awning. Also the fact she finds a way out of every situation should be noted.
I would love to see someday a live action series of Revan, especially if he was played by Keanu Reeves, I always thought he would be the perfect actor for Revan
Qui Gon Jinn is the GOAT in my eyes as he not only defy the council due to their political agendas, but followed the will of the force in a traditional manner, something Anakin really needed in order to prevent his fall to the dark side, if he were alive, of course. But a man can dream for what-if’s. If I can narrow it down to my top 3, they’ll be: Anakin, luke, and Ahsoka. But to be honest, all characters are great.
"I shall do what I must Obi Wan" is my favorite Star wars line of all time Qui Gon should have been in all 3 prequels it may have saved their reputations
I really see him as being the essence of the Jedi. A kind of ascetic monk. Even his coarse shirt which would itch is an example (of character informing costume too) of his devotion to denying the trials of the corporeal world for the will of the Force. :)
I'm so glad Anakin made this list, and even made the top of it. He's one of my favorite characters in all of cinema/fiction and I'm glad his character was further explored beyond the movies, the movies were only able to capture and explore so much. It's nice to see him not get so much hate anymore.
@The RivePrincess. Which was needed, and helped flesh the character out, built relationships up into what is described in RotS, and set Ani up as the character we meet in RotS.
So true! Anakin was always a completely realized persona in the saga solely thru the movies, perhaps the only completely realized one in the saga since the franchise sequels mainly failed so miserably with Luke.
I love how star wars fans did nothing but shit on the prequels for years now suddenly after 3 movies that people didnt like they say that all the underdeveloped characters in the prequels are good LOVE being a part of this toxic ass fam base
Anakin/Vader is my #1 favourite. Darth Malgus is very close. Maul is my second favourite. Because they managed to provide more of his backstory in Clone Wars and Rebels. He's tormented, conflicted, intelligent, and incredibly powerful. Ashoka and Starkiller are tied for my third favourite.
Obi Wan Kenobi deserves to be in spot number 2. He lost everything you could ever imagine and he is still following the ways of the Jedi. Unlike Anakin who was afraid of "losing" Padme as he lost his mother and turned to the dark side.
Anakin, Qui-Gon, and Revan are my tops!! I really hope we see Revan in live action one day. Honestly, even CW style animation would be fine too lol!!🙏🙏🙏
Here's my list 1. Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker 2. Han Solo 3. Emperor Palpatine ( might have even been number 2 or number 1 even but the Sequel Trilogy messed up but not as badly as some other characters) 4. Obi Wan Kenobi 5. Yoda 6. Leia Organa 7. Ashoka 8. Luke Skywalker ( his portrayal in the Last Jedi kinda brought him down a bit for me) 9. Maul ( he's the perfect blend of sympathetic and intimidating) 10. Count Dooku ( Christopher Lee need I say more) 11. The Mandalorian 12. Boba Fett ( he's getting some redemption points after being seen as a glorified jobber ( a character who is only there to make other characters look good ) ever since Return of the Jedi. 13. C 3PO and R2 D2 ( it would be a sin to not group them together) 14. Qui Gon Jinn 15. Lando Callrisian 16. General Grievous ( I honestly think he's underrated) 17. Grogu 18. Captain Rex 19. Mace Windu ( he might have been a little higher if he wasn't a prime example of how the Jedi order was dysfunctional at the time) 20. Moff Gideon ( is the best Disney Era exclusive Star Wars villain to date he's intimidating, he's calm and collected, he's crafty, he's intelligent, and he's played by Giancarlo Esposito) Honorable mentions: Chewbacca, Grand Moff Tarkin, Assaj Ventress, Savage Oppress, Cad Bane, and Jango Fett.
Thrawn could have displaced Ahsoka. She is great character, but her impact on franchise was imho lesser than the man that started the expanded universe back in days before prequels.
Maul is my favorite character so I believe he should’ve been higher due to his wild achievements throughout his development. He was cut in half and lived, he built an entire crime syndicate, he tormented and broke Obi Wan Kenobi multiple times, he stood up to Darth Sidious himself, he escaped republic imprisonment, he survived Order 66 without a lightsaber, he caused mayhem for the rebels and empire on multiple occasions, and every time the fans thought he was gone for good, he just says *”I’m back b*tches”*
@@TheEternalOuroboros nope, he comes back in Clone Wars and contiunes his hunt for Kenobi in Rebels (he's far tamer there but I'd argue that he's clearly the most broken, especially mentally)
@@TheEternalOuroboros Only the ones were I said “caused mayhem for the rebels and empire”. For the rebels, he blinded Kanan, he took the entire Ghost crew (except Kanan and Ezra) hostage, and he got Kanan and Sabine possessed by the Night Sisters. As for the empire, he easily defeated and killed 3 of their best inquisitors and stole one of their Tie Fighters.
Anakin story is so tragic his love loyalty and fear of lose was his downfall and in the end it's what saved him and finally set him free in life he was always a salve when he saved his son and daughter in the end that's what set him free
@@NobelTheKnave I don’t think he regrets his role as Han Solo in general but I do know that he did say he wanted Han Solo to be killed off before but George Lucas didn’t want that.
you legit got me with the jar jar binks thing, that was great haha. I personally think that Darth Vader is the greatest villain ever. he shaped my definition of what a villain is as a child. his introduction at the beginning of a new hope is the epitome of epic.
For me Thrawn should have been on the list , he introduced many pepole into ledgends, and I feel is going to be huge in the comming years with the way star wars is going.
Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker are easily my favorite Star Wars characters. Ahsoka's arc is why she is my absolute favorite character. I can't wait for the Ahsoka series to drop. WatchMojo should have left Jar Jar Binks as #1. The people in this comment section would have lost their minds. 😂😂😂
I hope Rex, Chewbacca, and the other two meet at some point. It would be epic to see them sharing stories such as Anakin’s fall, Anakin’s redemption, Clone Wars stories, and such.
Two things: 1. Everything you said about Mace Windu, Qui Gon, and Rex just means that they should have been ranked higher in this list, with Rey at #20, 'coz the Sequel Trilogy writers just gave her too much plot armor. 2. Characters like Dooku, Asajj Ventress, the Ghost Crew from Rebels AND Jyn Erso should have made it as honorable mentions, 'cause each of them have made an impact to the franchise, they each have sad backstories of their own AND they're all so complex.
Anakin's turn to the Dark Side was because the Jedi ignored Anakin's calls for help/visions/etc. Palpatine manipulated Anakin and preyed on his weaknesses and vulnerabilities. There are many more things that made Anakin turn. Ahsoka leaving the Jedi, not being granted the rank of Master, Qui-Gon dying, and Anakin's mother (Shmi Skywalker) passing are some of the many things that made Anakin turn to the Dark Side. However, if the Jedi Code was not broken, and the Jedi helped Anakin, and Qui-Gon would not have died, I believe Anakin would not have not turned to the Dark Side. Plo Koon would have also been a good Jedi Master for Anakin, I think. Anakin is one of my favorite Star Wars characters.
This list has many of my favorite characters in it and I'm glad Obi-Wan made top 5! I would have liked if Rex and Ahsoka both ranked a little bit higher, but top 20 isn't too bad.
Din Djarin has quickly become my favorite modern-Era introduced characters. He is even tied with Boba Fett in my personal list of favorite bounty hunters. In many ways, I even prefer him over my longtime favorite. I NEVER thought I would EVER say such a thing. I hate how much Luke was ruined in the modern trilogy. He was my all time favorite, and they shit on him. Kylo was OK. I dislike Rey very much
I am sooooooo happy Ahsoka made it among the top 10. Everyone keeps claiming “everyone didn’t like her at first,” but I can say that THAT IS FALSE because I fell in love with Ahsoka immediately as did a whole lot of people. At the beginning, there were “more lovers than haters.” But then over the years, the haters began to transition into lovers as Ahsoka began to grow on them. And as the other shows came out such as Rebels and The Mandalorian, more and more people got into her as well as the animated shows. How do I know all this? I’ve been “following” Ahsoka ever since 2008 plus I have a Star Wars account on Twitter that’s been out for 10 years so I tend to notice these things
I watched season one of the clone wars, currently watching season 2. Ahsoka was pretty alright in season one, even if she wasn't a masterpiece I enjoyed her character. About her role in the mandalorian, I think she's was really bad in it. Just didn't find her entertaining unlike in the clone wars
My Favorite Star Wars Characters: - Luke Skywalker - Darth Vader - Han Solo - Mace Windu (2D version) - Darth Sidious - Darth Maul - General Grievous (2D) - Captain Rex - The Bad Batch - Boba Fett - Mando - Grogu - Cara Dune - Cad Bane - Darth Nihilus - Darth Revan
Only reason Rey managed to get in is bcos she’s a main character of the sequels. Which is stupid since this is a top 20 best characters not most important
My top 10: 1-Anakin Skywalker 2_Luke skywalker 3-Qui gon Jin 4-yoda 5- han solo 6-obi wan kenobi 7-din jarin/grogu 8-darth sidious 9-princess leia 10-kylo Ren
My list: 1: Anakin/Vader 2: Obi Wan Kenobi 3: Maul 4: Luke 5: Boba Fett 6: Mando and Grogu 7: Rex 8: Fives 9: Grievous 10: Yoda 11: Han Solo 12: Palpatine 13: Cal Kestis 14: Chewbacca 15: Cody 16: Dooku 17: Tarkin 18: Ahsoka 19: Mace Windu 20: Qui Gon Jinn Dont judge me pls
Even though not much was mentioned of Captain Fordo, he was a BADASS. He was one of the Muunilist 10 and took held off an entire battalion with nothing but a rifle and handgun. I was surprised Durge wasn’t mentioned as well.
Out of the sequel trio, Finn should have been here instead of Rey. Not his fault that Disney decided to shit all over his character in the last two movies. At least he remains absolutely likeable throughout.
Rise of skywalker did him dirty. At least last jedi showed how not doing anything breeds worse problems and his interactions with that dude who sold him out to the first order shows the face of selfishness. Plus he beat captain phasma and I am mad he still doesn't use a tonfa. Also, is finn force sensitive since he said he "felt" rey being ok in rise of skywalker?
@@HenshinHeroesMedia Oh yeah, Finn has been force sensitive since TFA. Last Jedi decided to completely ignore that and then it was brought back in the last movie. Such a mess of a trilogy. He should have been the main character, it would have been more interesting.
Put maul higher. This man legit survived being beaten as a kid, being cut in half, insanity, the clone wars, order 66, and obi wan and ahsoka many times. Not to mention being stuck on malachor for like 10 years.
Well darth maul didn't actually survive getting cut in half. Savage Oppress, his brother(?), revived him with dathomere magic or something in the clone wars series.
Watch Mojo should do a "Top 10 Star Wars characters Disney will bring back alive", seeing as we've had Darth Maul, Palpatine, Grogu (yoda) and now Bobab Fett. People like...Porkins, Greedo, Tauntaun Luc was put in, the one lone ewok we saw die, and my number one pick Jabba the Hut (and the Blue elephant band)
*“I replace Rey with Ezra Bridger”* Because he’s a better ideal of a nobody like him can be strong with the force because he was actually trained by Kanan and Ahsoka the ways of the force and learn to be a pilot from Hera. And Ezra earn it in a respectable amount of time. Ezra have acutal flaws, as he’s angry of what the empire did to his parents. Ezra willing to learn from the Sith Holocron he can be more powerful enough to protect everyone, as Ezra blames himself trusting Maul and it lead Kanan becoming Blind. TLJ making Rey a nobody makes her a cheap copy of Ezra. *“I replace Kylo Ren with Agent Tierny.”* She is a sympathetic villain that is done right. Tierny is calm, strategic and competent leader than Kylo Ren.Tierny convince Tam to join the First Order, something that Kylo Ren fails to do with Rey. Tierny told Tam She was Scrapping by under the New Republic. She join the First Order not because she wants power she believes it gives her a purpose, order and a better life. That similar to Tam when she lives on The Colossus, as she struggles to be a ace pilot by honestly and hard work, but that didn’t get her anywhere so she take Tierny’s offer to become a TIE Pilot
Maul was a shitty character in movies, Clone Wars saved him. Kylo Ren didn't need a tv series to be a great character. Even those who hate the sequel trilogy (like me) agree that he was AWSOME
@@ultronemperor3525 They literally say its about all media forms at the beginning, so Maul getting higher on the list because of clone wars woul be totally legit
@@ultronemperor3525 Besides, Ren might be a good character in a shitty trilogy, but he is no where near maul if you truly consider all media forms. Maul is explored way more, got tons more in terms of character depth and all in all had the bigger influence in the universe
As one whos new to the EU, just finished listening / reading the trilogy (& comics, DE is next, as well as the rest of the other books in audio format, and i just love her sm.
Ones I disagree with: Darth Mail should be higher, and Lando should be lower Rey shouldn’t be over Rex, it should be the other way around Mando should be higher in my opinion.
Luke Skywalker should've been number one. Luke is perfect in anything he makes an appearance. I know people don't like his portrayal in The Last Jedi but his portrayal in TLJ is one of the best/underrated parts of the movie. People didn't hate that Anakin, Yoda, and Obi-Wan fail as teachers but people only seem to care about when Luke isn't perfect when he's a Master and it drives me insane. The Last Jedi shows just because Luke is a wise Jedi doesn't mean he's perfect, this is a realistic and relatable person.
Anakin, Yoda, and Obi-Wan's failures weren't out of character though. I find it very hard to believe that Luke would (even for a moment), consider killing Ben in the first place but even considering that, I find it wholly unbelieveable that he wouldn't go after Ben to try and save him or that he would completely give up on the Jedi and everything they stood for. He was never perfect (making him relateable), but he embodied the best of ideals that all of us should aspire to. I can forgive Rey being a Mary Sue, Finn's pointless side quest, or any of the other numerous complaints about the film, but Luke's portrayal in TLJ killed it for me. That was completely out of character for him.
@@elbryan9 it was considering even tho darth vader killed hundreds of people luke still believed there was good in him but when ben has a bad dream he just plans on killing him
@@elbryan9 That statement is false if you ask me. Yoda and Obi-Wan act out of character in the prequels so much that you don't notice it at all. Yoda never makes a good decision in the prequels at all. He never tries to negotiate with anyone he always solves his problems with violence. Compare the original trilogy Yoda to Yoda in the prequels if you put them together they don't feel like the same character at all. This is not Yoda this isn't how Jedi how are supposed to operate. And don't even get me started on Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan acts more out of character than Luke if you go back and watch ep 2. Obi-Wan goes to Kamino and learns that Jango Fett is the one who is being used to clone an army for the Republic. He learns that Count Dooku is the one who hired Jango Fett but not a single moment in the movie does Obi-Wan ever figure out that Dooku and the clones are connected in anyway possible. Obi-Wan can't piece together that the clones are being paid by the Sith but I guess he forgot because he never brings it up in EP 2 or ep 3. If Obi-Wan figured this out he could've saved the galaxy. It's such a small detail that's not ever addressed and it would've changed the formula of Star Wars that's just based off Obi-Wan forgetting an important piece of evidence. But when Luke thinks about killing Ben in his sleep he has second thoughts. Luke is the one who raised Ben not Han or Leia. Luke thought Ben was already turned when he sensed the darkness inside of him. Luke was trying to prevent another Vader from being born he thought he could accomplish this by ending Ben's life but Luke has second thoughts about it. Luke wouldn't murder a child he's not like Anakin at all. Luke is too much of a good person to do this kind of act. He ignited his lightsaber but he wasn't trying to kill Ben since he had second thoughts, Ben thought he was gonna kill him since that's what he was seeing through his point of view. I really love this twist in TLJ there is nothing wrong with the hero creating the villian in a story because it's more interesting than having this cliche scenario of the villian creating a hero. The whole theme of TLJ was learning from your own failure. We need to have failure in our development it's what makes us human, no one is perfect. Luke accepts his failure by learning that being a hero is the best thing you can do. Luke knows that he failed but he acted unlike Obi-Wan and Yoda who did nothing for years and waited for somebody to come to their rescue. Luke gets back up and demonstrates his mastery of the force and proves himself what it means to be a Jedi and what it means to be a hero. This is good writing if you disagree then I don't know what to tell you. The Last Jedi does have flaws but anything with Luke and Kylo Ren is the best parts of the movie. I understand not everyone is gonna like these changes to Star Wars but this is a change Star Wars needed for years since Star Wars has never had anything new to say since being evil is bad. The Last Jedi is the only Star Wars movie that tried something new and I have to give it respect for that.
MARSHALL COBB VANTH - gets my vote as the most promising new character in Star Wars. If Han Solo was the greatest space cowboy, then Vanth is one of the all-time great sheriffs (right beside Kara Dune). His life before taking charge of Mos Pelgo/Free Town, his involvement with both DinDjarin and Fett along with going toe to toe with Cad Bane lends a lot of opportunity for character development and further adventures

Agreed. Same with Ian Mcdiarmid for Palpatine
When she said #1 was Jar Jar then said just joking, it was as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
Why did I read this in Obi-Wan’s voice? 😂

I almost lost it, like wtf? Jarjar? 😆

Watch Mojo never disappoint to disappoint us.
lol
Rex is bellow Rey… I- I can’t, it’s unacceptable.
Anakin is and will always be the best Star Wars character.
Touch some grass
Ashoka kind of sucked in the movie, she became far better in clone wars and just kept being better.
Ashoma is the best like she was train by the best jedi ever ANAKIN FREAKING SKYWALKER lime who wouldn't like her like come on now
*ahsoka
I watched season one of the clone wars, currently watching season 2. Ahsoka was pretty alright in season one, even if she wasn't a masterpiece I enjoyed her character. About her role in the mandalorian, I think she's was really bad in it. Just didn't find her entertaining unlike in the clone wars

Dune so unnecessary
Qui-Gon Jinn? I think he should be on any top list. So important and I think he and Maul are the two best parts of episode 1 by far.
Cara Dune is bottom tier
@@SDfan2002 better than Rey and Kylo, but I don’t have her in my top 20 either.
I like Rey…BUT Hera, Kanan, Zeb, Ezra, Sabine, and Thrawn all deserve to be on the list much more in my opinion.
Especially Thrawn
Rebels is highly under rated. Easily one of the best series in the past few years. I agree completely.
Only reason Rey managed to get in is bcos she’s a main character of the sequels. Which is stupid since this is a top 20 best characters not most important
My favorite character was obviously number. Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one & the most powerful and the greatest Jedi ever
I love Ventres. She needed to be on this list.
Yeah instead of Rey

That Grogu cookie scene was hilarious 😂
Even though not much was mentioned of Captain Fordo, he was a BADASS. He was one of the Muunilist 10 and took held off an entire battalion with nothing but a rifle and handgun.
I was surprised Durge wasn’t mentioned as well.
Grogu not being 1st is a horrible crime
Out of the sequel trio, Finn should have been here instead of Rey. Not his fault that Disney decided to shit all over his character in the last two movies. At least he remains absolutely likeable throughout.
Rise of skywalker did him dirty. At least last jedi showed how not doing anything breeds worse problems and his interactions with that dude who sold him out to the first order shows the face of selfishness. Plus he beat captain phasma and I am mad he still doesn't use a tonfa. Also, is finn force sensitive since he said he "felt" rey being ok in rise of skywalker?
I can’t blame Daisy and John for what went wrong at all, they’re both good people. It’s just what they were told to do that made problems.
@@HenshinHeroesMedia Oh yeah, Finn has been force sensitive since TFA. Last Jedi decided to completely ignore that and then it was brought back in the last movie. Such a mess of a trilogy. He should have been the main character, it would have been more interesting.
At least Rose Tico wasn't on the list
RAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Of course Anakin/Vader is number one. He is the chosen one after all.

Put maul higher. This man legit survived being beaten as a kid, being cut in half, insanity, the clone wars, order 66, and obi wan and ahsoka many times. Not to mention being stuck on malachor for like 10 years.
It’s honestly amazing how boba fett is able to survive being eaten and darth maul is able to survive being cut in half
watch episode one of TBOBF to find out
Well darth maul didn't actually survive getting cut in half. Savage Oppress, his brother(?), revived him with dathomere magic or something in the clone wars series.

Best list in the whole comments section.....
But you missed obi wan
Wait, who is Agent Tierny?
Ezra is a great character and his ark is very interesting and well written.
Han Solo should’ve WITHOUT A DOUBT be over number 5
Putting Darth Maul below any Disney created character is blasphemy
Maul was a shitty character in movies, Clone Wars saved him. Kylo Ren didn't need a tv series to be a great character. Even those who hate the sequel trilogy (like me) agree that he was AWSOME
This is blasphemy, this is madness!
@@phoenixx8955 true, but Kylo had both movies AND his great comics + books. As a whole, he's better.
Do you know what character needs to be brought back from legends and placed in canon? Mara Jade
As one whos new to the EU, just finished listening / reading the trilogy (& comics, DE is next, as well as the rest of the other books in audio format, and i just love her sm.
Ones I disagree with:
Darth Mail should be higher, and Lando should be lower
Rey shouldn’t be over Rex, it should be the other way around
Mando should be higher in my opinion.
The fact that Ray is right above Rex is an insult to injury that is the sequels
Ray doesn’t deserve being on this list and other characters in sequel
Rey should have been in the top 10

Luke Skywalker should've been number one. Luke is perfect in anything he makes an appearance. I know people don't like his portrayal in The Last Jedi but his portrayal in TLJ is one of the best/underrated parts of the movie. People didn't hate that Anakin, Yoda, and Obi-Wan fail as teachers but people only seem to care about when Luke isn't perfect when he's a Master and it drives me insane. The Last Jedi shows just because Luke is a wise Jedi doesn't mean he's perfect, this is a realistic and relatable person.
no. he is iconic but he isnt iconic as his father
Love Luke, amazing character but there is no doubt that Darth Vader should be number one.
Maul and Rex and especially Ahsoka should be higher. I have spoken.
Ya you had me with jar jar 🤣🤣🤣 I was finna be pissed
Boba Fett and Jango Fett and Din Djarin are my favorite star wars characters. They are truly the best bounty hunters too. Also I love Grogu too.
