Slot already explained that Nyoni isn't ready to play regularly at PL level from a physical pov, so he won't be a factor most of the time.
At United we thought the same about Mainoo but he walked his way into the XI eventually. Nyoni shouldn’t be held back too much IMO he has excellent IQ and is very mobile.
@@PythagorasinBoots he's definitely talented, I think the club are trying to manage him physically, especially after what happened with Baj. I can see him getting minutes, but he's not on Mainoo's level of strength etc yet.

Imo Alan Varela is perfect to be the deeper midfielder for the DM/playmaker role. He's tenacious but not overly aggressive, superb passer of the ball, a good tackler & excellent positionally. Only 23 years of age he has time on his side to develop into a world class CM. For the versatile left footed defender who's comfortable in either CB or LB the Hincapie gets my vote. Brilliant for Leverkusen & according to reports wants to seek a new challenge. Valued at £35m supposedly & only 22 years of age his transfer is a non brainier for me!
I don't know why they're not considering varela when they said that we have a mystery target for the position i thought it would be him and not zubimendi but ok. Also hincapie would be perfect too.

In current squad Bajcetic is our best option. He is 6ft 2 and growing and at 19 he can run all day and cover whole pitch when opposition breaks. He has pace, great passing, physicality, good heading, and can score goals. Play him with Endo away games, or with Graven/Szobo/Jones/Macca at home and against weaker teams.
He’s been far too injury prone to have reliance on him. No chance he’s getting the starting role, he will be given sporadic games for a few months and allowed to show he can stay fit and is over his back problems. Maybe second half of the season if he progresses he could force his way into a starting 11 role
Angelo Stiller of Stuttgart profiles really similarly to Zubimendi in every metric
Zubi basically has +5 on every attribute tho,same profile≠same ability obvs

Lots of good points, and though I wanted Zubimendi I honestly don’t see a desperate need for a DM unless they’re genuinely world class. We have Mac Allister and I think a lot of people underestimate the dirty work he does - this in conjunction with his progressive ball-retention makes him perfect as one of Arne’s double pivots in buildup. The other is between Gravenberch, who I think can thrive there based on his progressive passing, and Jones, with Bajcetic a great youngster that I believe needs to be given chances, but I think that is a solid group of options.
Club have already said they won’t get a 6 cause their aren’t world class ones that fit their style available. So we will go into the season with what we have. Really need Bajcetic to come on. All the players mentioned apart from Bacjetic and Endo are 8s who can do a job at 6 but have clear weaknesses in the role imo. You can get by sure, but when you are comparing against teams like City and Arsenal who have elite 6s, you are absolutely at a disadvantage

It is not the quality of our best starting 11; it is the depth of the rotation that concerns me.
Starting last season with only 6 healthy midfielders was not enough, and it was simply tired legs in the midfield in too many important matches that caused a drop off when we were at the top of the table. This season we have 6 midfielders: Szobo, Macca, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Gravvy. Is Bajcetic the 7th? Trent? Can Slot do better with just 6 midfielders on the roster than Klopp could? Lots of questions.
If you ask me, I think Liverpool is going to continue to play a high energy style under Slot, even if it will be different from Klopp, and we should have 8 players in the midfield rotation to have a real shot at the title. Maybe Arne sees things differently...
Macalister is wasted tied to the no6 pivot for the season. More productive further forward. Doesn't have the robustness for the role or the right level of defensive instincts.
@@maveriks463he wouldn’t be the 6 pivot, he’d be the pivot that gets more license to get forward. Jones or Gravenberch would be the pivots that hold position.
I really like Richard Rios. I think he shows great promise press resistant and would not be costly. Laimer more of a Ugarte Kante type. Slot wants more of a holder than a destroyer
Nyoni is much better going forward, I'd hate to see him wasted in a deep lying role but I love to see him get play time regardless, and I'm sure he'd be happy to fill the role.
He’s an 8, not a 6. In fact he plays the number 10 role at youth levels. Role wise he’s exactly like Mainoo
As a Liverpool fan having watched last season, we desperately need it.. I think you could genuinely argue we win the league last season with a real CDM.. Endo as much as I love him has his limitations and isn't suited to Slot's system. Unfortunately I don't think we can rely on a 19 year old Bajcetic after he was injured all of last season, I love him and want to see him be our future 6 though. Gravenberch had one good friendly game, I know how reactionary fans can be.. Gravenberch is a CM not a CDM, I doubt he would cope for a full season in that role. One good game doesn't change that.. Jones is not a CDM.. Nyoni is literally a child and see him more as a CM as well.. I hate that we are forced to either play an Endo that doesn't suit the system, a Bajcetic who is only 19 and was just out all of last season or a player who isn't a 6.. It shouldn't be the case, we are a top club ffs, embarrassing. We had last summer, the January window and now another summer going to waste.. We have the Caicedo money, we have about £50m something from incomings through Carvalho, Clark, Solanke money.. Surely there are more CDM's out there than Zubimendi that would suit Slot's system, we are crippling ourselves and admitting we are not ambitious of competing for titles if we don't sign one. It's the ugly truth. I saw it unfold last season, how Klopp desperately tried making CM's work in the CDM position because we refused to replace Fabinho. Seems like round 2 of that with Slot now..
Ederson from Atalanta. That guy has some serious intelligence in his feet, good defense and the right build for EPL.
Gravenberch is the perfect 6 in this system
I would personally go for Fofana... strong, can carry the ball, cover ground, good skills, easy with the ball, and pass forward well. Still young 25, international with France (he plays right after Tchouameni and Camavinga in Deschamp's list), and Monaco wants to sell him (he has been training alone for a while during this pre season waiting for Milan to increase their offer.)

An alternative that I would've liked is Jerdy Schouten from PSV. He was a revelation in the Euros to me and he's played under Motta at Bologna & Bosz at PSV so it would've been a nice budget option...until PSV put a 50-60M€ price tag lol

Only world class CDMs worth buying would be Touchemeni, Zubi, Rodri or Guimares. Anyone else will be waste of money and won’t be an upgrade.
@user-fn4um5sj6d it's wiser to look for/make your own world class cdm. It's not like madrid or city will be selling to Liverpool. And other known cdms like zubi you might be in for a battle for their signature. Just go for an unknown hidden gem and make them from the ground up.
Zubi is not a top 4 CDM. He’s just a type of CDM that suits Slots style very well. There are a wider group of CDMs who are absolutely as good as him just many are not available or too expensive

I have a feeling Slot will start Macca and Szobo/Grav in the 7 positions with Elliott or Szobo in the 10/roaming role.
He'll definitely start one of Szobo and Grav in the deeper role for the athleticism aspect alongside Macca.
Szobo will play the 10. Being press resistant in the double pivot is more important than athleticism, and Szobo gives away possession too much. Hes better bursting towards the box in the 10 role imo. The double pivot roles should be between Mac, grav, Jones, Bacjetic and Endo, in that order of preference (Bacjetic needs to prove he can stay fit before moving up the pecking order)
Yes because they have tried to sign one for over 3 years now. This started with them trying to sign Tchouameni. When they failed to do so, that was the point to take a gamble on a young, unknown, and relatively cheap option eg Lavia though I doubt City would have sold him to Liverpool.
But they didn't. And I don't understand why they waited till August to make a move because some of those other cheaper options like Wieffer have already moved on. They gambled by waiting so long, and it's backfired on them.

You can say all you want about waiting for the right player but they have done this for 3 summers in a row now. And failed to get that option A. So I think it's fair to wonder why they don't an option B or C. Which is what they have done in previous years. And there is nothing wrong with that. A good recent example is when they failed Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount but moved on to other midfielders. Or when they signed Salah instead of Julian Brandt.
@tesleemhussein5217 Arthur Melo, Kabak, Davies. Liverpool have made panic moves, and bad ones at times after failing to do business correctly in the summer window. Some fans seem to think Liverpool never make mistakes in terms of transfers when they actually do.
Schouten was so good on the Euros he deserves more than a stand in role

Jfyi, Bayern does not need to sell players. They sold De Ligt because of his massive salary of 16 mil euros/year and because he did not play a role in Kompany's plans. They are trying to fix the salary structure.
They would have only needed to sell players if they brought other players in than the ones they already bought (Olise, Palhinha, Ito). Otherwise, the supervisory board would have not approved any further transfers. But, since they missed on Doue Bayern has no need to sell players.
I’ve started to come to terms with the fact that it’s a long-term project, and we may not have all the players we need this season, but it means the paths won’t be blocked for guys like Nyoni and Bajcetic when they’re ready

Endo is our CDM
He’s not a first 11 player though and will def not be first choice in the team. Slot essentially phased him out as pre season went on, from starting to bench role to second 11 team in the final friendly.

we didnt play the 2-2 formation in the build up from CB - CM. in the sevilla match, trent moved into cm alongside Gravenberch, Mac moved forward alongside szoboszlai so it was a box in midfield with Mac and Szobo finding spaces between midfield and attack. I am pretty sure this is how he set up in Feyenoord.
They literally said in the video that’s how Slot setup at Feyenoord. Also this might have been filmed before the Sevilla game not sure

So in conclusion he is a player that likes to drift forward until he can but when he hits the wall he turns back and run with the ball to the hallf way which is ridiculous

@@PythagorasinBootsI think a left sided/footed CB in the Gvardiol/Calefiori mold who can also play left back would be ideal. Just offer that flexibility that Arsenal and City have for extra defensive solidarity while still offering quality going forward.

@@edison0462Are you on drugs? MacAllister was our best central midfielder last season by an absolute mile and it wasn’t close. Bacjetic and Gravenberch are the ones that are “just an idea”.
They shouldn’t be fighting for the same position. It should be Jones fighting with Gravenberch, with Mac locked into the double pivot as the more attacking one with less defensive duties
@@dundalis baj and grav simply put,more genetically gifted then MacA,both have by far superior ceilings,in 1st and 2nd phases of play,and as the video told you,just because MacA has the vision to play certain passes, doesn't mean he'll ever get good assist numbers

The real question will be how well will we deal with low block counter attack teams who refuse to be baited and sit deep and park the bus.
What I hate about videos like these is when Liverpool is down by 3 midfield players due to injuries in the middle of the season, then we look really stupid.
Tyler Morton is another home grown option.

Nyonyi is not on mainoo's level. Mainoo eas a physical specimen already at 17 and was bossing the midfield vs real madrid and arsenal in pre-season, dictating the tempo at 17. Mainoo is more technically gifted as well and always played beyond his yrs even in the academy.
I know Macalister is overrated among Liverpool fans, his passing isn’t anywhere near good enough to compensate for being tiny and slow. Just a very easy player to run past in transition

@@PythagorasinBoots Ugarthe PSG looking to move on, FDJ can realistically be obtained in Diaz player + cash. Bruno had a £100m release clause that expired in July, if they had £115 for Caicedo, they had £100m for Bruno. In conclusion, I believe all of them could be obtained by FSG

Would be a good option but we didn’t discuss him as unlikely to move whilst they’re in UCL
Should have been signed before he joined Villa. That was around the time they failed to sign Tchouameni. Would be far too expensive now, especially with his injury record at Villa.

Ugarte sadly isn't technically secured enough for any team pushing for UCL football,never mind the chaos that is united at build up, someone like Varela suits you better

@PythagorasinBoots I know you lot did your objective homework. But even if you did push that narrative, it would be preaching to the choir for the majority of Liverpool fans anyways. Half of the fanbase are too busy situating themselves on "less net-spend" moral high ground to attack others. "Transfers bad" & "Want ownership to spend money bad" are so prevalent in their mindsets. It doesn't matter what the reality is to them.
To be fair most Liverpool fans we know want to invest which is absolutely the right thing to do. We just think unless there’s a clear option on the market, probably worth waiting for next summer to spend big. You’ve left it too late.

FSG have been fing around with the 6 position for a few seasons now.
Led to Klopp overusing Stefan and his long term injury.
To my eye Stefan and Trey are the only 6s on the team with the technical prowess to be Mac's partner in the double pivot but they are too young.
I don't buy Endo or Ryan or Curtis in that role.
Maybe Arne can coach up their skills. That's obviously his forte.
Without a cdm there's no title challenge. We will finish 3rd , the most boring and predictable season of Liverpool FC , in almost 2 decades.

I think even with a CDM current squad would probably be hard pushed for title but a myriad of signings could put you right up there
Achieving top 3 would be surprising. Disappointed in not signing the targeted players selected, but I agree with the aim of adding only top quality players who fit the system. Unfortunately, FSG aren't the best at door stop signings either, which doesn't play in their favor at this time. A lot of football to be played and the January transfer market is still available so we'll see. The future is still bright for the reds.
lol expecting a title challenge with a new manager regardless of signings is a ridiculous expectation. If they finish 3rd again that will be a great effort. Stop whining, teams don’t win titles with completely new managers except in situations where they inherited title winning teams which this team is not. Even then most managers never win titles their first season
