Spending time on your channel has totally become a routine that brings me great comfort and happiness. This has been such a heavy holiday season, and your videos seem to land at the perfect time, every time, so thank you 🙏 ❤
This really spoke to me today….My 89 year old Mom lives with me and I also help to babysit my 1 year old granddaughter. The holidays are definitely overwhelming and I appreciated your comments so much. Time for a break and reset!❤️
You are awesome Jen! Love your inspiring videos. Such a great vlogger. So natural and down-to-earth! Been following you for a few years. It's the first Christmas without any parents for my husband and I. We have been taking care of my mother-in-law and passed earlier this year from cancer. Trying to make Christmas special and carry on traditions, as well as make new ones for our teen daughter. Slowing down a bit and enjoying more "moments." We are going on a cruise with friends soon and looking forward to relaxing. ❤
(Jane) It always amazes me when I watch one of your videos and see how much my life parallels yours, probably because we are of similar age, with similarly aged children. I am also self employed and we have similar experiences and values for sustainability and social justice. Like for many others, this past week and a half has been rough with the shortened transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas! Also, for my business I have end of the month responsibilities which because we hosted Thanksgiving, I had to work like a fiend yesterday to finish. Today I am enjoying your video as part of my down day! Also I had knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago so I am still moving slowly and just not able to do everything I want. This year I did all my Christmas shopping online, so literally "mailing it in". Good advice! Thanks!!
Watched this with my cup of Twinings English Breakfast tea in hand! 😊 Personally, my life has become a lot quieter the last couple of years with our beloved dog passing away and only child graduating from college in a week... I've dialed back on all Holiday related things that felt simply obligatory over the years and I must say I enjoy the holidays so much more now. Christmas day has become truly a peaceful day that our little family spends together sharing a few small gifts and a lot of love.❤
This was a great message!!! On Friday, I proclaimed this weekend to be a stay home & hibernate weekend & has been exactly what I needed!!! I did some baking, watched a christmas movie, read, spent time scrapbooking & just enjoyed being at home. Same thing for today!! It also helps that we had really yucky weather friday night (freezing rain & snow) , I am in northern Ontario, Canada & now today we are supposed get 10-15 cms of snow starting this afternoon through to tmrw!! Good time to hibernate lol! As always, I enjoy your videos & messages❤️
You have no idea how much I needed to hear this. Thank you so very much. Wonderful words to hear. The holidays are a bit of a challenging time for me so your words really helped we through the wall. Sending Love and Blessings your way.
This video could not have been better timed Jen. Holy moly thank you. I have definitely crashed head first into that wall and thanks to your kind and wise words, I am slowly peeling myself off. ❤ so grateful for you and your channel.
OMG I also need to turn on the Christmas lights in the morning ❤🎄🌟 I love getting up early to just call it my me time🥰 I know my husband misses all the baking, I use to do, but I sure don't miss all the work it made. Routine is my soul to keep be sane and organized. 👍🏻😊 Thanks for sharing 🤗 Happy Holidays 🎄🌟
Gosh, needed this video! Yes! We just moved and resetting our new place falls on me. I’m in major need of a down day!!! Thank you for the encouragement! Happy holidays!
Thank you Jen for your recent videos. The more recent ones struck a chord with me as I lost my mother last week and my father was diagnosed with Dementia earlier this year. I am also 54 and still covering my grey hair with colour. As you can imagine, my days have become very full but I am trying to take time for myself so I don’t burn out by the New Year but it is hard with everything that needs to get done
I’m so the same way about scents. If it’s sugary sweet it just makes my stomach turn. This was very calming and soothing and much needed considering my life at the moment! 🥴
❤ Thank you for this. It was a peaceful and beautiful reminder. I just recorded a stress relief stretch video so I definitely agree on taking time for yourself, especially this time of year. ❤ oh you have the sweetest dogs too! But thank you for reminding us all that we can take a moment for us even when we want to fall back on “I don’t have time”. We have to make the time. ❤😊
Omg! I'm loving all the vlogs!!! I needed this video. I'm in bed and this season has already been so stressful. I was just debating about taking Monday off. I just need 1 day to catch up. You convinced me! Thank you!
I loved the way you started your morning in this video, and it reminded me to be more purposeful about each task to be completed as I start my beautiful day! Thanks for sharing
With our work department now divested in being across the state and working from home (which I love) I would say 5 years ago I would have felt haggard. Between work and taking care of my home and taking care of my mother at hers - luckily with help of my daughter. Many things have changed since then. I don't worry to get a tree up or putting decorations up, my mom put me through my paces growing up and then living near her the last 20 years. I'm a firm believer it's not set in stone to do. My daughter and I have made it a tradition to have a cookie making weekend and share with our close neighbors. No one reaches out to others around here, so we started 3 years ago to make cookies boxes. And some of those neighbors have reached back out. I enjoy the music, I shop early in the day to beat the crowd when possible, and Enjoy the time off to do what i want. Correct, we don't have to go to every party, or go to 5 places on Christmas to see every relative, Take the time and enjoy.
Such a warm, cozy start to the video. Love the idea of Christmas lights in the a.m. And, Im with ya on the food- smelling body products. I like clean, fresh scents. Thanks, Jen! Have a great weekend!
Great call on the reset. I had a very busy fall with lots of family and household needs, and although I'm doing really well with holiday prep I have let my eating and exercise go in favor of getting things done, and I am reprioritizing time for that basic physical self-care starting today. P.S. I have been calling it locksy-taan forever, but I know you researched it so now when you say locksy-tane I just idly wonder if I'm ever going to adopt the correct pronunciation.
What a delight this vlogmas season has been! Thank you for your honesty, candor, and compassion- both towards yourself and viewers. A question as you begin pondering an FAQ/AMA video... I began watching your videos when I was in high school, fast forward several years and I am about to student teach and earn my high school teaching license. When you think back to the young adult years of your life, what would you have told, pushed, or encouraged yourself to do? Similarly, are there any lessons, advice, or tips that you are either quite pleased to have passed along to your boys, or that you learned after they moved out but wish you could have taught them?
So love watching your channel Jen 😊 I have been really run down and since caught a cold and the coughing just won’t go away. Had a day off work and then worked from home and now this weekend resting. Fingers crossed I’m feeling better soon. I don’t have any advent calendars to open this year so enjoying yours 😂
Perfect timing and reminder. I also love turning on my Christmas lights in the morning. It's such a brief time they are up so might as well enjoy them. I feel I've been over doing it and while I have a week and a half off coming up for the holidays. while I want to get a lot done around the house, this reminds me that I need to also take days/times to myself to reset. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Hey Jen, you're gonna laugh but neither you nor I realized until today (because I'm telling you now) that the l'Occitane advent calendar has even numbers on one side and odd on the other. I just noticed that today - took me 7 days!). LOL.
This is the busiest December I’ve had in years. We have parties or events going on every single weekend, church activities, work is extremely busy in healthcare this time of the year as well. I originally scheduled to be off one day next week to have a day to myself, and I had to cancel that due to mandatory meeting. I never call out, but I feel like I need a day to rest and reset.
Time is definitely going fast right now and the list of tasks is long. Work, getting ready for vacation, getting the rest of the grandkids gifts.... taking a day is definitely needed.
I’ve loved your channel for a long time and just think you’re a sweet person. Life does get us down sometimes but I do love Christmas. The lights and decorations always put me in a special place. Calming. Coffee or tea and with my little and big furry kids. Yours are precious as well. Hugs to them. And my furry 🐶grandkids. Wishing you good health and peace to you and your family. 🎄🎅🏻🧑🎄☕️🫖🍷
I LOVE Vlogmas!! Will you be sailing on the Treasure anytime in the coming year? If so, I am looking forward to your comparison with the Wish. We have not sailed the Wish but are booked on the Treasure for next fall. We can't wait!
I totally agree that we take on too much this time of year. Here in Canada we are also dealing with a Canada Post strike. Over 10 million packages are locked up in canada post warehouses going nowhere until the strike is resolved. UPS and Purolator have announced that they can't handled the added volume that has come their way because of the strike, so now they are slowing down their intake of new pacakges. Its adding an additional layer of stress on anyone who has gifts stuck in transit. On the bright side, I can't mail any christmas cards! Even if the strike ended today, they'd never make it to their destinations on time. So I just saved a couple hundred dollars on printing cards and paying for postage and I can take one more "to do" I can take off my list! Silver lining! wahoo!
Doing all the things for all the people in all my roles and terrible at prioritizing myself… it hit me hard last week… I took Friday off work for a much needed day of doing nothing for anyone else and spending time alone doing the things I love 💕 We all need to be reminded of this!!!
❤ had a chill day today with hubby in the UK. Stormy day here so we took the time together to have breakfast together, put decorations on the tree, coffee with close friends and then christmas films and chilling this afternoon and evening. Was a wonderful resetting day thanks for the reminder. We lost my mum this summer after caring for her for the past few years with dementia, we will take our time over christmas this year ❤
It's a very busy month. Daughter just got MARRIED on the 7th. Work Christmas lunch on Wed. Youngest daughter has surgery on Friday than she has a birthday coming up. I just have to breathe and sit in a quiet place in between the days. I just need to Enjoy the good, breathe through they others.
Exactly the same with scents!! Certain scents for certain things. Lemon is my only "food" scent allowed in house fragrance (candles, cleaning products, etc). Body things must be floral or clean things. Almond being the only exception for body scents. And everyone who buys me things, 100% knows!
This video was perfectly timed! I really needed this gentle reminder. Question - are you wearing your new Boll and Branch robe? I had my eye on that and I was hoping for a review…
I’m feeling spent. My middle child moved to Virginia, from Michigan, last year. He’s at a federal police academy right now for 3 months. Yep, over the holiday season, lol. So we had our family thanksgiving and Christmas, here in Michigan, the week before thanksgiving. He’s the one always warning us that Mariah Carey is coming! Lolol. So I’m thinking, I’ve got the entire holiday season to relax a little. To enjoy myself, maybe reading or going out to look at the Christmas lights. Nope. My time is being filled by other people, mostly my kids, needing help with their kids, dogs, sump pumps. Lolol.
I really do not like food smelling candles with the exception of citrus. However, for body scents I like ginger sented things from philosophy or origins. So maybe the gingerbread would be good unles of course its light on the ginger and heavy on the baked good.
Jen: I noticed the piano in your home. Do you play? Can you read music? If so, have you ever considered singing with a local choral group (a good one..possibly auditioned)? You have a beautiful voice and I believe you might find great joy with singing choral music. Just a thought from a fellow musician. I loved your story about your pups. So basically, you and Scott were "foster failures" and so glad you were as your puppies have a wonderful mom and dad and beautiful home! The Foster Failure joke is a running joke in my family as my brother and SIL fostered kittens and.......kept them. 🙂

Spending time on your channel has totally become a routine that brings me great comfort and happiness. This has been such a heavy holiday season, and your videos seem to land at the perfect time, every time, so thank you 🙏 ❤
I’m so glad to read that, Andrew!!
Your vlogmas, but not vlogmas, videos has been such a wonderful treat. This one was so calming, love it!

Absolutely loved the intro section to this video 🥰
I appreciate you so much. Your videos remind me to slow down and chill out!! Absolutely loving your videos and your wisdom. 😊 Thank you.
Thank you for sharing that! I love it!

I feel knee surgery will happen for me at some point and I’m sure that hasn’t been easy!

This is such a great reminder. We could get run down and sick if we aren’t careful in the busy holiday season. Loved this vlog.

This video could not have been better timed Jen. Holy moly thank you. I have definitely crashed head first into that wall and thanks to your kind and wise words, I am slowly peeling myself off. ❤ so grateful for you and your channel.
Thanks for the reminder. Been feeling so crummy (def deal with SAD), and I tend to let my healthy routines go.
OMG I also need to turn on the Christmas lights in the morning ❤🎄🌟 I love getting up early to just call it my me time🥰 I know my husband misses all the baking, I use to do, but I sure don't miss all the work it made. I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. And it sounds like you have an incredibly full plate (in addition to grieving which takes its toll).
I’m so the same way about scents. If it’s sugary sweet it just makes my stomach turn. This was very calming and soothing and much needed considering my life at the moment! 🥴
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!!
As always, you've said exactly what I needed to hear!
Your daily vlogs are giving me great joy. And I’m still just loving your new master bath! ❤
Thank you - I really needed this today x much love ❤️❤️xx

You are so welcome!

The editing of this was so beautiful! Loved sitting and watching with a coffee after cleaning the spare room today

I should probably ask myself more “how’s my nervous system doing?” Gotta love that sweet paw for attention. 🐶

Doing all the things for all the people in all my roles and terrible at prioritizing myself… it hit me hard last week… I took Friday off work for a much needed day of doing nothing for anyone else and spending time alone doing the things I love 💕 We all need to be reminded of this!!!
😜I don’t like food-scented lotions, potions and candles either! I thought I was weird….so relieved to know others share that….!
NOT just you!

Just shared this video with one of my best friends because we both need to listen and re listen to the beginning of this video ❤❤❤❤❤
❤
Jen I was loling at the seven of nine reference
I’m feeling spent. My middle child moved to Virginia, from Michigan, last year. He’s at a federal police academy right now for 3 months. Yep, over the holiday season, lol. Yeah there were actual gingerbread men on the packaging so I’m thinking the latter
Between work and Thanksgiving, I've ended up sick. I'm exhausted. I've got to shake it and I can't get a minute.
I’m sending you healing energy!!
My father died unexpectedly just before my birthday and Thanksgiving. It’s all been too much.
How old were your kids when you began solo travel? I think I would love it but am wondering if I should wait until my kids are older.
I sang professionally for almost 20 years and although a choral group would be lovely my travel schedule doesn't really allow for it. But THANK YOU for the compliment!!!!
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge 🥰
Question - what does Scott's work schedule look like and is there a typical week or month? He's rarely in the videos so I just assume he's never there but I'm sure that's not true!
He’s here a lot but I just choose to film when he’s gone - he’s camera shy!☺️
Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One and that obnoxiously tight outfit😂
Bless
Oh PS, yes I got the 7 of 9 reference right away but I am a Next Generation fan more than Voyager.
TNG is my favorite too
Question: who watches your fur babies? You travel a lot , do you have a pet sitter service etc. its hard to leave the fur babaies w/ a sitter, but anything longer than a week, I think they miss their humans, yes/ no?
❤
😊❤😊. Do you enjoy reading!
What destinations you would not go solo?
😊❤😊 Do you enjoy reading?
Comment #3 sorry; your bartender son may enjoy those empty wine bottles for tinctures/infusions/syrups!
Such a great point! They’re a lovely size
Just say no!!
Question for your q & a vlog- do you think you'll move from your current house for retirement? If so, have you picked a state you might want to settle in?
