Running one of the most Scenic Races in the World - EIGER ULTRA TRAIL 101K

- In July of 2023, we travelled to the Swiss Alps where Audree would be running the Eiger Ultra Trail by UTMB, while I provided support. The 101 km course takes runners on a loop around Grindelwald at the foot of the Eiger, and it would prove to be one of the most scenic races in the world. But it turns out that Audrée's race wouldn't go as planned.

The strength to get out that go-pro and film and talk when you are having such a hard time is amazing. Audree, you’re so tough.
I'm an easy man. I see a new Jeff Pelletier video, I click on it
It really is that easy
Hehehe....easy is the best way to live.

Same here 😉
Audree is so sweet, earnest, hard-working and humble- I often get emotional watching videos that feature her races. Another excellent video
Aww thanks so much!
I really think one of the best things about this channel (certainly not the only best thing) is that it's both you and Audree. Sort of two for the price of one, but so much more, because we get different and fuller perspectives and experiences on races and runs. And not just when one of you is crewing and the other racing, but like the race last year (UTMB?) when you were both in the race. There's no other trail running/ultra "duo" on TH-cam that I know of, and it's great.
“Everyone want to be Jeff Pelletier” 😂 loved that quote from Audrée, another great film sir, there is only one Jeff Pelletier though, bravo 👏🏼 and well done Audrée 🙌🏼
All we need is a little Kiss from Jeff, that solves everything...great work Jeff, what an effort Audree, hats off
Audrée is a fanstastic woman, so kind and talented, nothing compare with Jeff. lol, I'm only joking. You guys are a great couple and I wish you the best together. Thanks for your great videos.
🙏
Wow, the scenery is so beautiful! Yesterday, I watched your channel and went trail running alone in Korea, and it was really hard. My leg muscles were different from running in the park. Even today, a day later, my legs still feel a little uncomfortable.
Thank you so much for this very inspiring video. Your optimism and enthusiasm are very admirable.
Wish you all the best!
This is so good! Love your videos Jeff - so well edited and put together. Well done to both of you on this incredible adventure. I’ve also just had my first DNF so I know the feeling you’ve just experienced. You made the right decision Audree. It’s so easy to think about what may have been or what you should have done in the weeks after. But you have since recovered and are now back on the trails! Thanks for the inspiration and what an incredible part of the world. - I can’t wait to visit one day! Cheers guys Stu from Australia.
I really appreciate seeing this side of running ultras, must have been such a difficult decision for Audree at the time but I’m so glad it worked out for her! Both of you are so inspiring and its great to see the support you have for eachother. What beautiful scenes aswell, the production of this video is amazing🙏
"Everybody wants to be Jeff Pelletier!" 🤣
I know I do!
Incredible inspiring work Audree! You are AMAZING!!! Thank you so much for this fabulous video xxx
That was so beautiful! I knew what was coming but was still wishing a different outcome. I do think as hard as that decision was, it was a good call. Well done!
Again as always your videos are awesome! Funny thing an excellent new film just came out with Marianne Hogan with the title 'Petit train va loin'. Bravo for your accomplishment Audrey and your fabulous Jeff for crewing.
Good on her for staying positive, you guys are a great team!
Audree you have nothing to regret. It was a great effort! Jeff I hope you know how lucky you are to be with such a powerful woman 😊. Awesome video, as always !👍
The photography in this video was stunning, such a beautiful place. I think Audree made the right decision, it sounds like she could have really injured herself if she continued. I can't imagine running 100km, with all that climbing and steep descents, it seems so hard
havent even started watching and i know this is already a masterpiece
Jeff, the editing in this is freaking crazy good, your time in the studio is showing!!!
Thanks so much!
I literally just thought the same thing. It is not something I usually recognize in TH-cam videos but I thought to myself these guys are film makers.
I really loved the cut between Audrée's feet running to the aid station, then Jeff's feet running to the same aid station.
You hung in as long as you could. Such a hard race, but beautiful! It's a treat for us viewers to see your loving dynamic on video. You both seem very lovely people.
Never ming the running part, this is top tier content. Great video.
Love the film- Audree lights up the screen just as the incredible scenery!
Who also finds Jeff's videos very very inspiring? Sometimes I even get emotional
Rookie here, video popped up as a recommendation on YT, obviously. Top quality content, world class scenery, and both Jeff & Audree captured what Jim Mckay stated decade's ago: " the human drama of athletic competition ". Thank you.
Audrée tu es une inspiration pour toutes les femmes ! Amazing video 👌
Merci!
Congratulations Audree! Over 68km done - I cried with you during this one, but definitely the right decision. Glad you were able to recover enough for the other events/acticities you and Jeff had planned.
Thank you
So good!!! Thanks you two for bringing this to all of us!!
Audree, darling!
I wish you a speedy recovery. Love your videos guys!!! You inspired me to try trail runs too. All the best xx greetings from Moscow, Russia 🇷🇺 ❤️
Love the way Audree says everybody wants to be Jeff ❤big hug from Sintra Lisboa 👌
Way to go Audrey! it sucks to bow out or DNF, for sure. To call it quits and take care of an injury, takes strength, discipline and good head on your shoulders. Looking forward to both of your videos. Take care you two.
As always a beautiful film and as I watch from London this makes me want to explore and take on races outside the UK. So many great lessons from this film too. Like listening to the body and making the best decision for ourselves for longevity. Also love the way you both support each other❤ 🎉
Petit train va loin!!! Bravo Audree pour ta course :)
My wife and I were in Grindelwald for several days last July, and left just 2 days before the race. We hiked most of the Eiger 51 trails and watching this brought back such great memories. Such a beautiful place. I would love to go back and run this sometime. Thanks for sharing the beauty and the struggle of it.
I stumbled upon this channel about a week ago and have been hooked since. Amazing cinematography and storytelling! I am looking forward to seeing more :)
Let me know which are your favourites once you’ve had time to watch a few more!
I'm pleased to see Audree's Quebecois français so well received! And that 7 week check-in at the end was such a wonderful bit of closure to this story.
Audrée, thank you for bringing us along this great adventure. Even though the outcome was not, what you had hoped for. It takes a lot of strength to make a heart breaking, but good choice for your health. I have to say, i had tears (again) in my eyes watching you make this call.
Your adventures bring me a lot of inspiration and this video is an excellent prep for my first trail race 😱 (Definitely your fault that I registered!)
Have a injury free running season to both of you!
I really like your comment 😊 I've never done a proper trail race, only road races (though I've done some trail relay races and I run on trails quite often), these videos really are tempting me to sign up for a trail race, though I'll definitely try a shorter distance first, maybe around a half marathon.
Thanks for this masterpiece, Jeff - This reinforces my belief that Switzerland is the most beautiful country in the world and motivates me to go out for a run, too ;-)
It really is. If only it wasn’t so expensive 😉
The Jungfrau region is one of the most beautiful places in the world!
Totally agree!
Epic video! 🥳👏
Mind is a peculiar thing. It is both the receiver and the interpreter of sensory system inputs. That combined with fatigue and the same mind's imagination is an ultra runner's worst enemy
100%
glad to see you supporting her!
Your running films are next level mate, really enjoyed binge watching them lately as motivation for my first ultra in a few weeks. Keep up the fantastic work!
You two make incredible videos! Great job going for 14 hours, and an even greater job calling it off for your own health! You two are an incredible team, and I can't wait to see what's next!
Well done Audree, gutted (again) that you didn't have your day. Hope you can come back one day! Thanks for the amazing videography (again)! I did the 51 a few years ago and I definitely recall some of those relentless uphills and technical descents. Sidenote: made it in a Jeff Pelletier film for 2 seconds at bib collection. Wishing you both all the best for your next projects!
Definitely hoping to go back to this event in the near future :)
What stunning views. Switzerland is definetly a postcard country
I’m here now, but gotta save this for my treadmill run tomorrow. Can’t wait! I know it’ll be great
Would love a Europe overview video of runs that is stunning. That you can do by your self. Maybe 20-30-40K runs! :D
Great idea! Maybe something that lists general locations to base yourself. I’ve got a few on the list.
멋져요^^
I miss 2013 when I tried to climb Iger.
For now, I want to run and go again.
Well done I did the e51 back in 2018 and it was so hard but so great. What an amazing place.
Great film, thanks for this! As a Jungfrauregion native, it's nice to see my backyard out of your eyes, glad you enjoyed it.
the 3D animations are very nice.
love the sprinkled in cute doggos
i love to watch the journey...
What an incredibly stunning place. Glad you were able to push this project out the door! Not all races go to plan and it's good to capture and share that smart decision making that Audree demonstrated for her season. Going to the Valais this September for the first time and couldn't be more excited.
Better late than never 😂
Well done Audree. Seems that was a very good call, as tough as it was at the time. Thanks for sharing all those amazing views with us while you suffered up there. Can't wait to see the rest of what you two got up to on that trip.
Thank you so much for including me in your video at min. 4:09 Jeff. What awesome memories this brought back. And what a fantastic video as always.
Great to meet you, and thanks again for trying to help Audrée with her foot!
These films are the best advertisement those races could ask for. So inspiring! Even though I knew that this years Eiger is sold out, I still went to their website hoping for free spots after watching this.
Thanks Audree and Jeff 😊
Hi Jeff and Audree, I just want to say that you are the reason I started trail running. I first got into running by watching Floris' low heart rate training video on Jan 2023 and shortly after that I saw your UTMB video where both of you raced. I found a whole new world which I did not know it exists. I've already finished two trail runs(30k and 38k). I would like to experience longer distances with time. Thanks for the great videos and stories!
Bravo Audrée! Dans le vidéo tu dis qu’ils sont tous des futurs Jeff, mais non c’est toi la future star! Thanks to both of you for another great video with great views! P’tit train va loin
Never had a DNF but had a "didn't even start" due to injury in a 100k race this year and was painful in the heart and in the head, so know what those tears are!!! Keep the good job both of you are doing on inspiring people in this thing called trail running!!!
Man, that is some absolutely wild elevation gain on that course. Makes the 100km part seem easy.
I saw you very briefly in front of the sports facility where the bib pickup was but got too shy to say hi hahaha! Shame Audree couldn't finish, but an epic adventure regardless!
[edit] also, that descent to Burglauenen is absolutely nuts.
That's an awesome policy to have about pregnancy. I think the same policy should extend to other verifiable medical conditions, such as a pulmonary embolism or similar issues that prevent you from running. The course looked amazing, that part of the world is stunning. Too bad about Audrey's issues during the race and the DNF. She knows that she made the right decision because the rest of the summer went well so hopefully the DNF won't torment her.
Great video! Hope Audrées doing better!
Audrée is an absolute champion for having the foresight to make what was definitely a hard decision of DNFing. I know the feeling well and it did bring back some difficult memories of my past. What she did took a lot courage and seeing the last scene of the video, it’s obvious that she made the wise choice. Great work❤️.
Beautiful scenery! ❤️
Great race Audrée.
Love the videos. Really hope you guys will consider doing one of the sinister sports races one year (black spur, or death race, or sinister 7).
Heal quickly and there will be a next time!!! Thanks for sharing your journey.
This is going to be good. Love this place
I've had to give up on hikes because I just can't power through the pain. However there was a hike I wish I had given up that I nearly collasped on. So good for her!! It sucks, but it was the right call.
What a gorgeous gorgeous experience... Your injury tho looked so painful.. I'm so sorry you had to make such a hard call. Sounds like the best decision ❤
Breathtaking sceneries and heartbreaking decisions... Is that a "why" of this sport?
Bravo
Incredible video as always
Ben loin 🚂....
Allez, Allez Audrée‼️‼️🤩👌🤗🇨🇦✌️
Anyway well done. Such an Inspiration!
Great effort Audree!
Quebecois checking in
Well done Audrée, t'es solide d'avoir persévéré malgré la douleur dans tout ce dénivelé (D-, D+) et les portions super techniques. Jeff, thank you for another great film. Lots of little gems in this video, Kilian and Emelie, breathtaking views. I really enjoy watching your adventures.
Thank you for sharing Audree's adventures also! I always admire her positivity, even through her tough days. I've so enjoyed your videos, and all the scenery is breathtaking. Looking forward to your next video!
Well done.
“P'tit train va loin!” Bravo Audrée!
Ti train va loin 🚂 ❤💪🏻
So excited to watch this, Jeff! 😊 Just a heads-up: "First" is pronounced "fierst," like in "fierce." Grindelwald never disappoints!
Thanks for the correction! Next time 😉
You're welcome! :) It means "ridge of the roof." Loved the variety in this video, with Audrée taking us along and your drone shots! I ran the 16k last year (at a super slow pace, haha).@@JeffPelletier
Amazing vlog, Jeff & Audrey! Your content is consistently captivating and flawlessly produced. Even though I was born and raised in Switzerland, the breathtaking views and stunning landscapes you showcased made me feel like I was experiencing them for the first time. Your ability to capture the beauty and essence of these trails is truly remarkable. Sending love to both of you, and I hope to cross paths with you around the Alps this summer. Meeting you would be an absolute delight!
inspiring film as always, love it! 🙌🏽🏔️🇨🇭
(…and so cool to have met you in person @ Burglauenen aid station 🥳)
My wife and I have been watching you guys for a while now. Congrats on the fine effort, Audrée! A wee steer on your map graphics. Red on green makes it difficult for us many RG colorblind guys to see. Would be great if the route line was something super vivid like yellow. Anyway, keep the great videos coming.
Thanks for the feedback on the map graphics!
What a venue. Great video!
Looks beautiful good effort Audrëe👍🏻
My queen Audree, what an amazing effort. I'm inspired. ❤
Thank you!
« Petit train va loin » hihi bravo Audrée, d’une Quebecoise qui vous ecoute 😊
Great movie. I loved the Eiger Ultra 101k and will come back definitely for the 250 one.
Bravo Audrey!!! Super inspirante.
great film, as always. Good to see that its not always easy going and happy. A shame that Audree couldnt finish, but seems like it was the right decision in the end. If you guys ever come back you should check out the trail du besso in central Valais; also spectacular views!!!
Ti train vas loin !
Awesome sauce 👌
Love an Audree feature 😭😭😭
aww thank you! :)
Amazing, as always.
Great video! Great effort!
Congratulations 🎊 🎊
Audrey, you rock! Hope you have an amazing summer
