That’s actually almost identical to the naturehike mongar 2 bar the shape of the foot print. Think even the weight is the same. Couple of extra guy out points and vents at the roof rather than the side but yeah that’s virtually a mongar 2. Think the mongar 2 might be 8mm poles though, fly looks really good
@@AndyWardle I’ve got both the elixir 2 and mongar 2, inners definitely more mongar 2 but yeah the frame looks more solid and msr like with a few little attention to details
Looks like a good tent I'll be interested to see how you get on with it, I've got a nature hike mongar 2 which is which has the same pole setup I've used it a lot for over 3 year's now. It's never let me down but you have to be careful if the wind shifts & starts hitting the tent side on I've to had brace wind side of the end of the cross bar with a small Pole going to the ground to stop the pole deflecting downwards which hasn't been a problem then in 40 mph gusts I'm looking forward to see if your tent is a stronger alternative. Ps have you got the cross pole setup correctly mine goes over the top which makes tent more taught and you get a bit more Headroom on the inside
@@AndyWardle When I first watched the speeded-up video of you setting up the Tropic for the first time in the 'Windy Wildcamp' video, I also thought that the cross pole should surely go over the top of the main pole, as that would transfer the wind load down through the pivot in compression to the frame, rather than the load on the cross pole tending to pull the pivot apart, so was surprised to see your response here. Surely the fixed pivot can rotate round the top tube - or the section of pole it is attached to will rotate at the joints? EDIT: Checking the firemaplegear website, the 'inner-tent pitch only' photo clearly shows the cross pole over the top of the main pole.... 😟
Respectfully, we are not concerned about the volume of water, but rather what pressure upon the material would be needed to allow the water to pass through....just a different way of visualising.
Hey Andy, looks like a decent tent....albeit a lot like the elixir 1 I have, less the other entrance. I guess the 2 person option for a similar price may tempt some. Anyhoo, ATB pal take it easy.
Emz has the elixir 2. She reckons there’s a little bit less room in this FM tent. But not by much. Also this is much cheaper. I even like the colour. 👍
😁👍 Hi Andy.. sent here by Emz after seeing this briefly on her channel.. Good review and looks like a decent spacious 2 man tent. I was going to use my X-Mid 1 solid through winter but found out it's not that good in gusts of 30mph upwards. Where this looks a lot more stronger, plus the extra room. Just ordered one all in $185 with free delivery plus free footprint from firemaple 28% discount instead of the 12% 😁👍 Yeah, it's easily double the weight of the X-Mid but in winter it's better to have more room inside and a more secure setup. Inner pitch first doesn't bother me.. That's me done now 🤣 no more tents.. 🤣😁👍
Until the next one. I like this. It’s light enough and seems pretty strong. I’ll probably wreck it now 😂 I’m not sold on those x mids. I think they’re gimmicky. The price for this is great. All included in. I think I’ve 10% off on top now.
@AndyWardle I'll proberbly use my X-Mid for spring and summer.. This new flextail will do for our winters, stronger looking in Gail's than my xmid . Can't argue with the price either 😁👍 hope to have mine soon.. Snow forecast next weekend apparently 👍😁
@AndyWardle 🤣🤣 it's been a busy day.. Just watched your video of the new firemaple and I'm still impressed and looking forward to getting mine in autumn gold I call it.. 👍😁
✅ 2Person Backpacking Tent-Ultra light and easy to carry - The 20D tent weights only 4.3lbs for the whole set; packing size: 20.5*φ7.1in, Packs down small with included carrying sack so you can carry it easily on backpacking trips. Taken from the info they sent me. I weighed it on my scales. It’s 1.95kgs fly and inner. Footprint adds about 400gms.
That looks like a great tent
I’m loving it. Few tweaks and it’ll be mint. Next video rain test.
Looks really good. Nice littel tent❤
Yep I like it. I’ll use it more

All very similar now. I think it’s a decent design. Like an MSR elixir 2. I’m hoping those vents are waterproof too 😂 I’ll find out soon.

👌 ⛺️
Its a good looking hubba style tent that.
I reckon id be happy taking that out in some gnarly weather quite happily.
One to think about
I’m hoping to get out in the rain next. See if those top vents let the water in. If not then it’s a winner in my book. So easy to pitch and put away.
Nice looking tent :)
I didn’t like the look of it. But in the flesh it’s lovely.
Great looking tent and review. Is it possible to pitch it with the outer 1st then the inner.
Apparently yes. Just set the poles up as shown then cover with the flysheet. Then put the inner up. Everything clips into the same pole ends.
Looks a beaut bro and cat scan showed no defects by the looks of it. Safe travels. Ken.
It got the cat seal of approval 😂 must be good 🐈⬛

Check my video tonight. I’m out in it. Pretty gusty.
The top pole is correct. It’s attached so it can’t really go any other way.

Hopefully I can test it in real time. (Rainy camp) I usually end up drenched 😂
@@AndyWardle It does look like an American tent, do they not make a solid inner? It looks a bit airy for October.
@@thomasowens5824 I’ve mentioned to them about the solid inner. They’re looking for constructive comments and feedback 👍
Hi Andy, Very impressed, looks well made and very adaptable with all those different configs. Big 👍Atb
It’s versatile. But I need to use it more to prove it’s worth. See if it keeps the rain out etc. 👌
Looks exactly the same as Decatlon's MT900 which is 1.95kg at £220. Cheers for the review.
This is £178 plus free footprint. Plus my discount 10% 👍

Great review, but it’s inner first! Not worth a shite in Ireland!
You can pitch the fly first. Just do the fly sheet before the inner. Then get in and hang the inner 👍

3,000mm is 3metres about 10. ft.
That’s a lot of rain
At 2.58, that's the inner, not the fly sheet.

Not light then.
You don’t think 1.95kgs is light for a 2 man tent?? 🤨
