In this how to video I cover the steps I took building a diy drill charging station organizer out of scrap wood.
It was a fun build and really helped out in the shop to be more organized and streamlined!
It's so much more efficient to be able to walk up and grab something and know where it goes.

I built one about six months ago very similar to yours. They are a great asset to the shop. I added a few of the small plastic bins to hold misc tools. 👍🏼👍🏼

Walkers Woodworks yours is made out of better quality material. I had a leftover piece of concrete form plywood that I repurposed. It needs a couple of coats of paint, but it’s functional and was basically free...lol keep up the great work my friend..

Excellent build, love the idea of clamping a level to whatever you are hanging up, it's one of those 'oh yer' moments when i saw that.

Looks great! If you hang your chargers on the side you would gain that space and its easier to get you batteries in and out.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR!! Unfortunaly i dont have a table saw or the room for some of the equipment you used here... Man i wish you could cut all the pieces and ship them out for the end user like myself to put together!! ive got to get some more room somehow...... How to get my wife to stop using her side of the garage hahaha
You can definitely use a circular saw and a straight edge. Orrrr if you talk to them real nice home depot may even cut them for you. But I wouldn't trust them to cut them perfect haha. I have plans available for it now with a cut list. Link in the description.

Great video, if you can keep posting your measurement and material they are of much help to newbies like me. BTW, there is nothing wrong with asking for donations but instead create a page where one can download Sketchup drawings with a cut list and materials. Love the fact you mentioned about your grandpa's router if you can pass it on to your kids.

Great build! Thanks for the video. I am probably going to make one of these this weekend. Also, the mask you were using while spraying on the finish is the same one I have, and I wanted to let you know it does not do much to protect against the chemicals in finishes (unless my eye isn't as sharp as I think it is and you have a different mask than me...). Nice build. I had to laugh when you described the flush trim bit as being the fastest and most efficient. I was thinking that routers make dust FASTER than anything else I own.

Like that idea..... I have a lot of 3/4 ply left over.... need one. Its gonna happen. Just need a design that fits my space. I also have a old router. My Dad's 70's craftsman one. I like using it. The base has a crack in it. Works well still. Old style that actually has a cable hooked up to the throttle wheel to control the motor. I thought it was a wire for the trigger that was until I hooked it on something with the thing plugged in! I'm a bit more careful with it these days, but do have a new dewalt plunger one (thanks to the wife for me B-day).

@@WalkersWoodworks Yes, I also have his old table saw (craftsman 113). It's sentimental and takes up a lot of room. I could get buy with a job site saw that folds up for what I need, but it is nice for have a cast top, and side wings. Its just horrible for dust. I should really upgrade to a newer model, but I think I'm going to mod it with a kerf knife addition and some dust collection. I do enjoy using it to make things.

I wanted to comment on the fact I stumbled across your channel today and I have since watched every video of yours. I really like them, they’re well done, they’re simple and to the point and the volume and tone with which you speak is easy to listen to. I also have to say I like some of the more “duh, why didn’t I think of that” moments such as using the spring clamps to hold the level in place. On a good day I might’ve thought of that lol. Keep up the good work and excellent videos, sir.

I really like the design of this build. I've seen hundreds of different ones but I really like this one. I've needed one for my shop for quite some time and I like what you are using yours for. It looks like items most used for a build. By the way, that cross-cut sled is HUGE!! The back piece closest to you, is that two 1/2" pieces glue together? Thanks!! Happy Holidays to you and yours!!

Hello Mr Walker great idea ! My question is what kind of air filter system are you using? I saw in the beginning of the video up in the top right corner what looks like a delta air system is that what you use ?
It is an old delta system. Works great though!
Nice video. What brand is your rip fence? Looks like it just runs on the back rail so that you can have an out feed table really close.

Hi buddy, awesome video! I’m very new to woodworking (and I’m in the UK! 🥴), so have been looking at videos on TH-cam to help me out. Glad I found yours, subscribed instantly!! Your methods and approach is impeccable; easy to understand and extremely thorough. That = perfect! 👍🏻
Anyway, I am trying to setup a little work area in my galvanised steel shed. It’s not large, so space is at a premium. So I have one question for you: What did you do/use to attach the anchors to your metal wall (the two bits of wood to screw into)?
My plan is to completely cover my wall with MDF. This will allow me to attach various shelves and other bits easily. But, it still goes back to my original question of how to secure the wood to the metal.
I’d really appreciate any advice you can give, and look forward to watching the rest of your videos.

Hey Jon!
If you go to any big box store they should have some screws that are specifically for securing wood to metal. I used them in my new shop to sister up 2x4's to metal studs. 👍

Awesome - curious how you can tell the weigh capacity for this. You've got a bunch of small stuff in there but with gallons and gallons of stuff up top would it be too heavy and drop down? How do you account for that?
I have no idea what the weight capacity is. I hung from the top shelf and I weight 190. Sooooo that I guess. Haha.
Nice charging station, I need to make one of those. One note about table saw sled. It's easier to use your back fence kerf to align stock. Mark your stock on the back and align your mark on the fence kerf.
Well the slot in my sled was cut with a thicker blade. So I had to go off the new thin kerf blade. If that makes sense.
@@WalkersWoodworks Yes makes sense. What you can do if you want a zero clearance and clean cut is to add a thin sub-fence or sacrificial fence.

How wide did you put the bottom spacers from each other?
+Ryan Hess I'd have to go back and measure but honestly wish I had put them a little closer. Just reference off the drills and drivers you plan to put in there would be my suggestion.
Nice build. Just out of curiosity, why did you hang your drills from the battery? Personal preference, or is there an advantage to this method?
Because the bodies of different tools are different sizes. But yes mostly just preferred them that way lol. Thanks for watching!

You should get the kreg pocket hole machine. $400. You could do all those holes in minutes. I love mine. Saves tons of time.

Hah. I do the same things and used the jig you have for years. Then I got the foreman. Holy hell I wish I got it 10 years ago. It’s so fast and accurate I love it. I see your friend has it on the video of your track table you guys made. Stupid question time. How do you like the track saw you have? I need to get one. Was looking at the kreg and dewalt one. I’m honestly not impressed w the fess. My friend has it an I think it’s way over priced.
Yea I love mine. Using it and then the festool I feel like it's just as good. I would upgrade the blade though unless you're only cutting plywood.

A couple of quick things. First, you could have clamped inside the box if you took the end off your trigger clamps, turned them around, and used them as spreaders (assuming your clamps will do that).
Second, I strongly suggest you wear ear protection, especially with a long router session

Very nicely explained. In your tool list I do not see the air nailer, nor the length and gauge of nails. Question, what gauge 23-18-16, my guess 18 gauge, length 1.25" possibly"?
I have since started using arrow fastener nailers but yes 18ga brads. I can't remember what length they were off hand.
@@WalkersWoodworks Thank you for your prompt reply. 18 gauge is what I use, thinking about acquiring a 23 gauge for smaller items. My thinking is use glue then pin nail for holding as glue dries.Thus I can continue working on the item not messing up my glued pieces; oh yes I have done that.

Purchased the plans to get all of my drills organized. Apparently I have a tool problem! Last count was 7 drills =) 3 different platforms. And still, I need more tools lol

In this video, he shows his new work truck and how he outfitted it for his plumbing business. It's very organized just like his shop, which is an advertisement for KREG TOOLS & FESTOOL, lol. He has just about every tool out there and some I've never seen before. In another video of his updated drill press stand he uses an edge banding machine that is incredible! I didn't know they made them for the home workshops. Anyways, I hope you get some ideas from it. Best of luck!
great idea with the tape . did you use any glue ? some good ideas . but i think i would have used some dados and some thinner ply , especially where lumber has gone out of sight now . but i like the design /setup . sincerely deb in VT
I didn't use glue, no. I usually don't on my shop stuff.
It can be easier to install if you use a french cleat.

At 0:36 Don't need the power saw to cut the board.
How then? Cut the board the full cut on the mitre saw
Then flip the board over and cut again. Simple.

I tried the PVC pipe version of this; didn't like it, as some drills look the same from the back. I went the ugly route and hung them sideways on the wall with nail holders.

I was hoping your plans would have had a layout on how to best cut the pieces out of a sheet of plywood. I am good at cutting wrong and need more wood than I should.
