Should I try water curing and make a video with my results?? Hit the like and comment!
Yes, please!
Rather you than me 🤣🙌
Yeah this needs to be done. An end comparison with a few different techniques of curing, all from the same yield and then a consuming test from the Stash
yes please. you probably have to much 😅
got a great idea you should make a video water curing!
Your Terps will be completely gone.. Trust me tried it before. Smoke was smoothest than ever tho
I tried it with an ounce. It makes the buds look washed out, almost grey. Makes it taste almost woody but in a stem kinda way, not a gg4 way. They shrink more than they otherwise would once dried and the bag appeal looks awful. The terps are all gone and the high isnt the same.
use kool-aid next time
Apple cider next time
mud water is the best then deep in the ground about foot for three months.
@@MrSuperGthen use it as a suppository. Works every time.
Also alles in allem eine absolute scheiße 😂
Damn this makes me feel so old and im only in my early 30s. My buddys dad since I can remember has always grown and he talked about this when I was at least 13-14. He totally is against it and one of his buddys ruined a lot of his harvest "Water curing". So thats always been a no for me just because if the OG's were telling me not to im going to listen.
Same brother I'm with you 😢😅.
You listen to people who have more experience than you? Wow, that's very rare. I guarantee you've saved yourself a lot of wasted time and effort by doing that.
@@tsuobachi Wow I know right what a crazy coincidence who would of ever thought? It must just go over everyones heads I'm guessing from such a intelligent reply.
Make your own experiences. Some of the OGs are talking bullshit
Rip terps
Terps aren't water soluble either. It's why bubble hash is a thing.
Rip, bugs
@@swankshire6939 some terpenes are definitely water soluble!!
That's why certain strains don't wash through the full flavour into their bubble hash!!!
@@swankshire6939 Some actually are water soluble.
it's true, I did it, but it loses its smell
That would be a cool experiment. You could even just soak half of the buds and hang the other half of the plant traditionally, that way you could compare taste/smell/affects results of each technique from the same plant. Could be interesting!
You don't hang bud to cure it but you do dry bud you dry it by hanging it two diff processes
you can always make more, just start with a bit to test smoke..
testing it on different types, is probetly more inportent.
with a old school outdoor you might find this method more usefull then with a high end indoor bud
it also depends on your taste preferences, some people like the taste of chlorofyl..
and they get buds with dark green or purple color for example
I've been enjoying your program for years, this is my first response, I've used many techniques that you use your self but this will not be one of them, trident true, cut it, dry it, jar it, humidity packs ,and yes burp it😂, will continue to enjoy your program, Thanks for all you do, BBB
in my experience water curing is only really useful to try to salvage moldy bud and even then i wouldnt smoke it. maybe edibles?
Trident true🤣🤣🤣
@@jsprit6669 the truth that rules all the oceans.
I appreciate your balanced well organized video conversations. No BS and your interview style keeps things on track while sharing ranges of information. I think adding short focused segments such as this is a great idea and a valuable teaching technique. I believe it will expand your audience while affording those of us who follow you interesting insights. So, yes more like this!
Thanks so much for your positive words! I'm glad you like the content. Cheers!
simple.....NO......love what I grow and I would never waste any doing this.
Lol it's not a waste. Understanding the purpose, things start to make sense. Many people want and need discreetness. It's also excellent prep for making edibles. I could understand how you see it in a negative way though. You grow some gas, you want that gas 😂
If I wanted bud soup, I'd make some bud soup. I'll stick to jars and bags haha
To each his own, ill just keep hanging mine.
U deserve to try it tho some of you growers with experience
I will try it with one plant maybe just a few nuggets not the whole plant first
Don’t 🙏🏽🤣
Tried it, the smoke wasn't good but still made great edibles
Thanks @MrGrowit your video short on the topic was more balanced and less synical than other youtubers. Remaining impartial is an important step when analysing something that is different to what we're used to.
I had to water cure for a couple of years when I lived in a condo in a highrise tower. I had no space for a separate drying area and drying in my grow space meant postponing my next grow. More importantly, preventing any odors from escaping was absolutely mandatory. Water curing solved both of these problems.
Water cured buds lose a lot of their smell, yes.
Water cured buds shrink and lose weight, yes.
Water cured buds lose color and bag appeal, yes.
But if you lived in prohibition-land and had the option of this or nothing at all, what would you choose?
In my experience water curing did not provide a superior end product, but it did solve problems that would have otherwise prevented me from producing my own medicine.
I now live somewhere else and I air dry and cure ONLY. I am however grateful for my experience, even if it was forced, as now I have a skill and knowledge that I previously did not.
Valuable experience. Thanks for sharing.
The smell an taste is a very important part I would never do anything to reduce turps
Tried this a few years back. For me it seems to wash out the flavor
Find out about this in the mid-seventies. My next door neighbor was in Florida for a couple years and they got a bale of cannabis that washed up on the shore. I saw how the leaves were curled and discolored from the water. Pretty crazy way to find that out. Looking forward to your next video catch you on the flip side my brother. ✌️
yeah no thanks
This was rad, definitely do a video of you trying it, that would rock, thanks for sharing Chris!
Isnt this why you flush the flower in the last stage of growth? To rid of any unwanted chemicals and such? I have bought bud that didnt smell like anything and I thought it was strange. Maybe they water cured the bud, idk. But I would definitely pass on the water curing.
Sounds like blasphemy... however, if you have a few months to waste be my guess...
I'm only in my 1st grow. I've heard of bud washing but not bud curing!?! I'm not really sure that I want the wonderful smell weed gives off and or possibly any potency... maybe for some it's needed but fortunately for me I get to keep all the awesomeness weed provides!!💯🤘
I've done this a few times over the years and got 3 beneficial take aways from it. The smoke is WAY smoother, the cure time is shorter, and the edibles I've made were really good. Downsides are less weight, bag appeal, and definitely a loss in terps/flavor. I've never noticed a loss in potency. Try it with a small amount and compare for scientific purposes 😊
I use water curing for any weed that has some bud rot. That weed I process for edibles.
I tried it with some of the popcorn from a grow a few years ago, It did work, sort of, but it turned some very fragrant Girl Scout Cookies into something that looked like a bag of old leaves and completely killed the fragrance. It was like smoking something that you found in a jar after three years, if you know what I mean. Not bad weed but not weed you'd chose to buy. But give it a go and make a vid, it's an interesting technique.
This was a "trend" back in the day because it smelled to bad too hang dry plants. :D It worked enough to sell it back in the day because nobody cared they just wanted something to smoke :)
Don’t know how true it is but here in upstate ny we use to get a lot of weed through the Mohawk reservation. It never had a smell at all and people would say it was water cured. This early 2000s. Guess it made it easier to snuggle with no smell
Had this explained to me years ago though it was a bit funny but over the years I've heard it come Up a few other times all from experienced growers
I have a bunch of stuff that I don't like the terpines of it but it will get you high... I'm just going to try it out to see if it works for getting the taste out so I can run it through my bho system and turn it into diamonds; that is the idea I just got after watching this!!
I did bud washing with my outdoor plants last season to remove powdery mildew and the taste and smell were great. For curing though… doesn’t seem like a great idea to me.
My question would be how to dry it cause isnt there more potential for mold in your buds if u dry it to slow or anything? it it overall a bud soaked in water..
Who's putting nasty chemicals on their buds in the first place
This channel gives solid advice 99.999% of the time. This is that 0.0001% where you want to avoid this nonsense. The overhype on such a garbage method of Curing is hilarious. Do yourself a favor and have a couple harvests where you cure old school and then get yourself a Cannatrol and relax. Cannatrol has been such a solid purchase and once you get used to it you can tweak/customize it for whatever you're heart desires.
Interesting concept, I was not aware....
I think anything is achievable with water.
No I have not.But one thing I know it’s been dried and smoked for thousands of years.I just don’t see how this is feasible.I’ll stick where I been last 48 years.Dry with air and ventilation.
it's mostly a thing in places where we'd can be laced
done it like 10, 15 yrs go when i first heard bout it, only reason why you wanna do it is either stealth bc the smoke almost does not smell like weed akin to vaping weed, or to flush out nasty shit. otherwise i wouldnt recommend it but its straightforward. everyone should try it atleast once to see
Do it for the views but personally I wouldn’t do it, no need to make an easy thing like drying curing difficult
Man hell NO! No way am I putting in all that time money and love to drown my beautiful flowers, someone must be smokin' and it isn't the G C strain.
I don't think I would ever try it.. to big of a risk for mold. I'm happy with just cutting an drying then just smoking it lol
There is no risk of mold when you do it right.
People who soak their buds are the same people that wear a mask ,alone in their car🤷♂️
@@keelo-byte nope, it was a very easy comparison. Soak away!
Well we know who got caught doing both stop projecting eddy
@reallyreallypanda8969 ruin your buds bro, I don't care.
@eddybrown3212 wasn't going to.sorry you did try, sorry about the mask situation also. 😆😆😆 ayyeeeer
You know ED survived both😂😂😂😂
😄😁🤮no xd
i guess if you grow pesticide filled buds, its the way to go. I just keep my plants healthy
I’ve done it and it works just fine, you do lose terps, but as a last resort(bugs hit last week of flower or something) then it’s great cause it will wash them away as well. Is it my preferred method no, but water curing can save a harvest.
I tried this back in 2000 and didnt care for it. The buds weren't as pretty and lost flavor, imo. They were smooth though.
I have done it in the pass. I started smoking with guys from VI n they smoke spliffs - tobacco laced joints. Turns weed black as hell but no smell. So good for smoking at work. U also lost mo weight. 1zip wet = 5 g"s cured n dried. Smooth n bland 😅
Try just half a plant then see what half taste better
biggest NO in my life. Never do this, not even with outdoor flowers. Don't ruin your product like that, it's not worth it. It's STUPID and only STUPID people do this thing, never buy a bud from them, cuz they don't know what they doing. Absolutely horrible idea.
What will happen if you mixed ashes and mangoes 🥭 with the soil when your growing and female plant im doing it right now I'm just waiting and see what's its going to turn out
😊😊 what about dry/cure in a wine frig?
I tried it last October, it made the nuggets hard as a rock, the original product was spindly. Could barely smoke it it was so dense
Not a chance. However ....I may have grown in a swamp many years ago and it rained damn near everyday. 100% humidity. Lost a little to bud rot and mold...but also had the best smoke around when it went well. To much moisture has never been good to me ! So...now after 35+ years of growing as far as "water curing" goes...not a chance !
this is such a good process if you make edibles for your elderly relatives that *do not* want to have that taste or smell. this is my go to. it works!!
Between cat hairs, dust, and fungus gnats, I definitely understand the appeal of water curing or bud washing, but I'm too much of a maniac about flavor to try it personally. Definitely interesting!
Gat dam kitty hairs, I feel you on that one.
Like dissolves like was what we learned in high school chemistry. So if those "bad" things are to be removed by water curing they better be water soluble.
I think here missed base point of tobacco and why is apply this , this doing on on got strenght tobacco - red cigarettes , no light . If want normal tobacco like y smoke in cigarettes this take half year in curring process. Light tobacco have short curring seasson , strenght have 90 days minimum .
The same is early cut harvest and older cut harvest . Is not the same tobacco in end of process . And honestly #1 is on tobacco used only leaves not flowers .
Classic methode is made harvest and give everything together on screen in curring , sometimes come and take from down plants and mix to up . ( Sorry my English is very bad ) . But go about fermentation nothing more . The same it's in outdoors production but they hang up to dry rooms .. is old methodes when was not equipment on everything like it is now . If y want study this classic agro methodes must look on back to history and old methodes when was no electricity everywhere in villages where farmers grow 👍 now is everything under control ( enviroment ) in old days have just dark houses with airflow . Base what y doing is just slowly dry and got more wooden taste what is better because when fast dry it's like some leaves from nut tree . Of this point go . Slower process. In weed this result don't acceptable for users . Standards is sweet taste and smell .
Lol I came upon your channel by seeking information about water curing your 3D resin prints and when I heard you talk about buds..... Hmmm never heard anyone address their 3D resin prints as buds. However 3D resin prints can be water cured I just wanted to see what other channel was doing this not knowing this method was being used for a more organic process. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge it is always great to learn other fields processing procedures. XD
I would not want to try it just because my harvest of 3 plants each year is not enough to risk losing some and I love my terpenes 🙃
But I would love to see an experiment and hear about the results.
I personally would never water cure only reason we use water to make bubble hash because you're getting the trichomes off "Trim" which would have been thrown out anyway. However, for the actual buds itself just ruins it in my opinion
I don't know, but, processing flowers with water, be it for bubble hash or this, leaves many of the minerales and other substances present in the water you are using in your final product. Water may evaporate and some of the chemicals present in it too, but not all. Ooor maybe i'm just over thinking it?
I knew guys who did it in 5 gallons ro mixed with one 12 oz bottle of Peroxide. They would only soak for no more than 5 minutes. Then rinse again in ro. They said it cleaned the buds of all Contaminance. And that's the way they wanted their medicine
I grow mine indoors, all organic, distilled water at base of plant. Nothing ever sprayed on plants. I want every micro-gram of my terps. Dumbass idea to rinse them away.
I'll let you try it Chris..haha 😁, let us know how you get on ?..im very intrigued indeed & great subject 😎
i havent smoked skunk myself and from the smell description i dont plan to. but maybe that technique could help. would be nice if you could try it for us. drying 1 half traditionally and 1 half water cured, from the same plant
water cure? Sure! Think i might also experiment with feeding them OP Rum, pretty sure that will increase vigour and potency
Please discuss hydroponics more. Thanks . Kudos on your Chill Out, great success!!
What. (the literally start of the video) after video what the heck idk maybe after bubble or a sifter box and literally only with maybe an Oz at best just to see what it does if I found a video clearly explaining exactly how to do it 😂
I've heard Kyle Kushman talk about it but I don't remember the details. It sounds risky and messy. If someone wants to try it, hey, it's their bud. I wouldn't try it.
Which green did you make yourself Chris would like 2 try it ? I would watch if you done it would be interesting 2 find out
No, never will.
Smart 🧠
this is a joke right? Trichomes don't dissolve, but there so fragile they will break off, i'll pass
i think if i was going to try this i would have some 190 % on standby incase it was crap atleast you could still decarb it and make green dragon
Oh dang!!!! I'll have to try it. Cheers Mr.Grow it 💚✌🏼
Hey man good to see ya here! I tried it and I’ll never do it again lol. Video coming at some point in the future 😄
I'd try it on a smaller batch see which buds come out different than normal curing as for taste and potency.
It seems a little too complicated for me.... too much babysitting
No bad idea Definitely no
Ive herd it bein used on meat well water aging. Same difference i think i havnt fully watched this video yet
you should make a diy stealth bucket grow that can fit in a cupboard and filters smell
Wack and .makes your herb airy and mids . Ill stay with 60/60 in my dry room .
I “water cure” my AVB since thc isn’t soluble in water it makes edibles taste way better lol
Lets talk more about budwashing before we go into full water curing, i've done budwashing with my outdoor plants, and I also want to add, that the terpy-est and most potent buds i've ever grown were from an outdoor autoflower plant that I did budwash. This water curing thing sounds a little crazy though!
None of us growers have the right to criticize another's techniques, it shows ignorance, there's more than one way to skin a cat
Never heard of this before, thanks for bringing it to my attention😃
(Subbed)
I tried it and there was no smell or taste after, same plant I tried hanging curing... Alot better
I feel like it would wash out the anthocyanins. You get benefits from them as well.
Haha I've heard of it but I am NOT brave enough to potentially lose my hrd work. It just seems so counterintuitive to rehydrate your flower when normally this stage is where you are trying to remove moisture content so adding water to the equation seems completely BONKERS to me personally. I'd be curious to see you try it big fella😉😉💚 Much love brethren 💚
ive heard some crazy crap come down the pipe . this is the craziest. . didnt know it was a thing. no way..
I gave it a shot in the 1990s on a mostly sativa variety I had grown. It tasted much less "green" and reduced the total weight by about 25% overall. It did smoke smoothly, but it lost a lot of terpenes as well. More like hash than bud.
No.
i tried it a couple years ago. wasnt impressed. the bud was slightly less harsh but was also very bland. i found it washed away all the good flavors and just left the nasty flavors. the taste is very similar to smoking bud thats been vaporized.
Not gonna ruin my beautiful buds, taste or smell. Nope.
But i will watch a video if you try it 😉
I can't believe you're bringing this back up. Do not cure your flowers in water 😂. Jeez I'd rather smoke freeze dried boof
So your left with bud terpene water can’t you then extract the terps without heat and add them to some extracts
Never .. for me it’s more like killing your product
Hell to the No
i always do the bubble hash in water, seems like you would lose more than it would be worth
im doing 2 photos and 1 auto under one tent. if you mind watching. thx :)
Tried it 3 times. Didnt like it much. Went back to hang dry
No
