So it was my great honor to gather his wisdom on our Sikh identity and the larger Sanatan culture that we live in. To appreciate the depths that we share in common, and also our peculiarities that make us distinct and special in the family.

Right sir. Guru Nanak Dev Ji's main teaching were to meditate on anhad Naad (divine sound). to be sakshi bhav of onkar. onkar is cosmic sound which is present inside us. when we sit quietly we will hear this. This is what the main message of Japji shib which is completely align with our traditions. our traditions consider onkar meditation to be one of meditation techniques in hatha yoga. Guru ji rejected rituals, sakar pooja (idol worship) , but our root is essentially same. We call it Moksha, buddha calls it Nirvan but it is basically one and same thing. Had there been no britishers and SGPC i think Sikhism as new religion would not have been present as it is now. Sikhs need to get back to their roots of GGS and upnishads. will find same thing

sir, you have raised a good issue .I fully agree that Sikhism is separate religion like jainism,Budhism and Arya Samaj.These religions have different religious thaught but I am dismayed at the dispute between sikhs and Hindus where as we never hear of any dispute with Jainism and Budhism .What is the reason behind it.Do sikhs believe that Hinduism being s big religion it will put their religion in danger which is misplaces belief. when jainism, Budhism and Arya are not in danger how can be the sikh religion.

AUM was symbol to represent GOD 3-actions [Generation, Observation and Destruction]. Guru nanak extended AUM symbol with 1 representing that all these 3-actions belongs to ONE god. 1-Aum kaar means all 3-actions are equally GOD.
Frankly speaking- Young sikh population is more inclined towards Guru Gobind Singh ji rather than Guru Nanak dev ji. We found more translation work on Guru Gobind Singh ji work as it is easy to understand. Guru Nanak dev ji preaching are pure gurumukhi which is not easy to interpret the emotions behind his writing.Khalsa concept of being fighter is mindset of Sikhism today.

There is no difference in the core teachings of Guru Nanak Devji and Guru Gobind Singhji. Read Dasam Granth by Guru Gobind Singhji. You will come to know that many Sikhs in present generation don't acknowledge Dasam Granth because it relates Sikhi with Sanatan more closely. "Deh Shiva Bar Mohe" These are the lines composed by Guru Gobind Singhji in Chandi Charitr of Dasam Granth.
The guruship was passed on to the GGS, therefore it is our primary source/text and is our supreme guidance, all other writings are secondary, including the Dassam Granth, this does not take away from its significance and importance and no doubt has a role to play in understanding Sikhism, its history and development. It should be noted Guru Gobind Singh did not create/Compile the Dassam Granth, this was later put together from various writings/books attributed to Guru ji and was compiled after his death!
@@manveersingh5780 Dasam Granth might have been put together later on after Guruji but as far as I have read, It was written by Guru Gobind Singhji during his stay in Paonta Sahib.
@@HiddenHistoryofBharat Sir, that may be the case, however, Guru Sahib, at damdama Sahib Incorporated the writings of the ninth Guru, his father, into the GGS and chose not to add any of those writings, Attributed to himself and Later collated into a single volume, the dhasamm Granth, into it! As I pointed out previously, this does not take away from the significance of these secondary texts/Writings both, from a historical perspective and as a source to further understand the Sikh path more profoundly, Having said that, the GGS remains our supreme guidance and most authoritative source, any contrary/contradictory philosophical/ideological ideas within our secondary sources are, or should be repudiated!
