    I’m 53 and have an Army retirement and a 9-5 job. I just work, workout, go home repeat. I have tried dating, but I have not been successful at all. I think I should just give all my possessions away and sell my house and go live in the Philippines. Even if I don’t meet someone in the Philippines, at least I would be in a tropical place with beaches and different cultures to experience. I mean hell if I’m gonna be alone, I might as well be alone in Paradise!

    My 1st trip to the Philippines was Sept 2001 to meet my soon to be wife. We were chatmates about 6 months prior. A short time in the Philippines and I too yes decided if and when I retire I will retire to the Philippines. I was here 3 times three wks each time in a span of 9 months. Yes I loved it in the Philippines. My wife came to the US 2002 and we had a daughter Sept 12 , 2002. 8 years later I found myself laid off from a 26 1/2 yr job at 57 years old. I found a part time job and that got me my full 99 weeks of unemployment. As my unemployment was about to run out I told my wife I think we need to move to the Philippines. She seemed to been happy to hear that. There we were moving to the Philippines on the 9th anniversary of my 1st trip. Our daughter is 3rd yr college at UPLB and been President's List of Scholars all semesters. Life is good. We were spending on food one week in the US what we spent for a month in the Philippines. Great video Chad thank you for posting.

Can I keep my U.S. bank and credit card accounts? Will I be locked out of my accounts after 6 months? Will I have to get a Philippine bank account? In Canada, a lot of gr 12 honour students (kids of long time tax payers) with 90% average, even valedictorians (go ask those students) couldn't get a seat in uni as they went to foreign students who paid more tuition (a lot are degree holders in their 30s & 40s with kids - imigration scam/shortcut).

    Hi Chad a tip for your subs ,Ive been there done all that, Its not the fix all for most , Some things will also wear on you very hard there and after awhile you have to do something about it. I have a home there and a home here in calif. My wife and i both choose to live in ca. and only vacation there. Reason #1 our kids, they have almost 0 oportunity to start a career and make money there. #2 Same for my wife im retired but she works here in a hospital and would make pennys there. My #1 personal issue with pi is NOISE, Noisy People, dogs, roosters, motorcycles make noise all day all night! Here in ca. its very quiet. #2 all my medical care is in ca. So plan well you might want to come back.

    Can’t imagine just starting a family in Canada today, my older brother just had his first kid 2 years ago and a second one on the way this summer, he’s 45. I asked him if he thought about the future at all lol, he will be 65 by the time they are finished schooling 😂 he’s now looking for a bigger place to rent and he can’t find anything for less then $2500 a month plus utilities, to me that’s just crazy to think about. I’m 43 and my kids are about to graduate high school and go on to university and my wife and I are looking at the Philippines for our retirement for sure. We spent a month in Feb travelling around and both can’t wait to get back again to start looking for a small lot so we can build a simple house .

    Times are changing rapidly in the Philippines. Real-estate is going through the roof. It's more expensive now in Phillipines to buy land or a home than the US. Unless you live far away from hospitals, shopping, or restaurants. It's just a matter of time the cost will bleed over to rentals. You can't buy a $200000 home and rent it for $1000 a month.

    • @DestinationJapan95
      @DestinationJapan95 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s not the real market though. I agree everything is expensive, but for literally no reason. There are excess homes available all over the country, more supply makes them less valuable
      The problem is, Filipinos are brain dead and think a 500sqm parcel of land with no road, utilities, survey or anything 5 hours away from a city with all amenities is worth $100k

    I visited the first time, on invitation from a filipino friend in California. Stayed at a downtown hotel in cebu for p400/night. 1990.
    Traveled around the islands for a month. That was it. All I could think of was coming back. Girls were all over me. It was my hobby to spend long long vacations. Went thru so many attractive young girls, looking for honesty. Foreigners are an automatic target for making dramas to get financial help. Learned the languages and caught on, that lying is not a bad thing here! Didn't marry for real until 15 years later, after i had 500 lives here. Now I'm a resort owner in Bohol, 16 years married with a beautiful daughter. She's 38 I'm 69.
    Life has always been wonderful for me here in the Philippines!

There are no perfect places, but for middle aged man, hard to find a better spot to start a family (but is it possible?)

    Dating in the USA is a disaster unless you're a Chad. If you're not a Chad then you are disposable and will be used as a Stepping Stone or Walking ATM. Then the second the woman can find someone better you will be dumped, blocked or ghosted because you are disposable. I have a couple more years then plan to move overseas.

    Oh yes the Philippines is a very beautiful country especially its people their hospitality, generosity, caring to the elderlies and the scenery of the place. But there are things for expats to consider because when you are already the place their are challenges that can in many ways will result to frustrations. Lief in the Philippines is a slow pace and if you cannot adjust on and have no patience will become a big friustrations to expats. You must have a deep pocket to sustain your needs although if you are earning dollars it will go a long long way because the cost of living is much cheaper than the western world.
