You are right my tongue is wider than my palate and usually rests over my back teeth. However I have a short lower face so making it longer won’t hurt my proportions. But you are right my teeth should protrude more, everything looks sunken in

The back teeth are more important, but preferably you want as many of the teeth in contact as possible.

I am a 19 year old boy from India.
I had crowded teeth and deep bite before my braces, that is now corrected without extraction of any tooth by using self - ligating braces.But the sad part is that I lost my smile . I think my teeth have been moved inwards.I would love to correct it through the orthotropic treatment that you invented , but it isn't available in India.
It would be highly appreciated if you could take time to consider my problem and fix it . And in return I can help you in anyway possible to bring what you bought to my country.(Even if it takes me to become an orthotropist and help you out ).

Ask for an agga appliance, i have a deep bite that is causing pain in my TMJ joint, i will tell my orthodontist to do an agga treatment as it brings the front teeth forward which will correct my deep bite

I've started mewing, but not in public because it makes my face look terrible, recessing the chin even more.

hey guys whoever is seeing things i have find a way to mew and fix overbite....so you put your tongue on roof of palate but a few a distance behind the teeth then make sure your mewing with chin tucks coz it will ensure the pressure is going upwards rather than forward you teeth should touch slightly with small pressure.....main tip dont mew without doing chin tuck even while sleeping honestly the only way mewing worked for me.....your welcome
thanks for the advice! im 19 and i've only began fixing my overbite . i never had any braces when i was a kid and it really fucked up the development of my teeth. do you know where should i keep my lower jaw during the exercise?? i keep positioning my jaw in line with my upper jaw which went way too forward so it feels very awkward when i do the exercise, i keep having an urge to move my lower jaw way back where it should be. do you have any advise on that part?
@@regi5436bro don’t worry, braces are not natural. Not having braces is not bad, in fact you saved yourself from so many risks. People develop other problems after braces.

I am currently wearing my braces (no extractions) in order to correct my bite. So far I'm seeing great result from it because I felt that my breathing problems was already gone as well as my consistent neck and shoulder pain.
So in short I shouldnt mew if I have a deep bite? :(
Proper tongue posture is still a must, but if the deep bite is already affecting you the best thing to do is to seek professional help since they are many factors affecting our bite.
does the orthotropic approach involve removable appliances? im 18 and my bite is very deep, although i have a long face. ive corrected my posture as much as possible but its hard to get the tongue to touch the papilla as well as the rest of the palate in the front because of limited vertical height
koklo pikolo If you go on their Orthotropics site you will find more info; you will have to wear an appliance for various stages, such as: Biobloc for tongue posture; and the forward pull brace to pull your jaw forward.
My 12 yr old daughter already had extractions (mostly baby teeth at 7-10yrs old) to correct a class 2, division 2 bite. The ortho is using braces now to correct the bite with no guarantees of a symmetrical profile. He says that anterior growth guided appliances (AGGA) don’t work. I guess mini implants don’t work either?

(My face used to be pretty symmetrical but i had an operation just below my ear and im trying to get it symmetrical again)

Do you mean bigger vertically or horizantally? I can imagine chewing with one side a lot more than with the other causes the obe side to get pulled together more and shorter

@@ULTRAAKCH Assuming Mike's thesis that small forces over time remodel the bone your face probably was exposed to assymetrical forces over the last years. Maybe you chew a lot more with your left side, always sleep on the same side or have your tongue in an assymtrical position in your mouth. Or maybe there actually is even a genetic part playing a role here.
Is it wider in a sense that bones are wider on the left side or is there just more soft tissue?

You say that deep bites are caused because back teeth don't erupt as they should. Wouldn't make sense to extrude them? There is apparent contradiction on your claims. You say that you shouldn't erupt back teeth because your face will appear longer. What about patients with a too short lower face due to deep bite? Wouldn't they benefit of elongating the lower face?

@@bunb8541 He said eruption not extraction. Erupting the teeth that weren't erupted fully as a result of your tongue stopping the eruption. I agree with alberlos and ask the same question.

I fixed my deep bite in about 5 months of mewing. Still have crooked lower teeth, but I'm hoping it'll fix by itself.

@@sohrabdrake5579 Nope, teeth together. In fact, if you press hard enough, the mandible (lower jaw and chin) will come forward, essentially forcing the teeth together. Initially you may not be able to get the back of the tongue up to achieve this, but with time you should be able. Regardless, try pressing hard and see for yourself. You should feel a pressure both on the cheek bone area and the lower jaw should automatically come forward. Overtime, this position becomes natural and normal.
Edit: Don't overdo it. If your joints hurt, stop immediately or take a step back.

I for one have a somewhat weaker jaw/chin(talking about length not projection)
so, correcting my deepbite would mean I could sport a shorter beard without looking like a Muppet.
Jaw surgery caused me to have a deep bite~ excessive overbite~over closing~bite collapse, so that is another potential cause of it. So people beware!
Nice to know it will also cause my jaws to become even more recessed.

So if you correct it would it would that decrease the size of you nose and chin..?
It would decrease the appearance not your actual nose.
The angle of your maxilla changes. The cartliage of the nose isn't stretched as far down and your mid face is shorter from the front view.
Your chin won't protrude as much compared to your lower teeth and lips because they move forward and aren't that recessed any more compared to your chin

If you do it correctly, yes, but if done incorrectly, then it may worsen your overbite.

This stuff is so confusing when you dont have perfectly alligned teeth. I have an overbite and I dont know whether to touch my upper and lower molars while mewing or the incisors. Apparently, if you have an overbite and mew, it will make your overbite worse and also disfigure your face. Anyone got anything more concrete they can refer me to? I dont want to make my face any worse lol.
I have also over bite and mewing doesn't make any difference for me , I don't know what I can do

If your tongue is between your top and bottom back teeth, wouldn't fixing that by changing tongue resting position also lengthen your face as the top molars come down and the bottom ones come up to meet them?
The lower jaw/bottom molars will simply come up to meet the upper molars when you take tongue away from between the molars.. It's different when the upper & lower molars can't make contact at all. This would over time remodel the upper jaw to close the gap.

deep bite is when the top two front teeth go over the bottom teeth so although it can be classified as an overbite, it is very slight, but it is just as damaging
