I studied IT in Germany and went on to work for global corporations. I can tell you none of their shiny "it's great to work for us" movies actually feature passionate and genuine people like this one does. I bet Jason didn't need a script. Just pure love for what he does. Amazing.
college jobs are dead...not needed..........way to many are on call,,,and the rest are in major debt...
Well look at you young man I was a member of AWS for about 10 years certified too. Iam retired now but I made a good living so always go forward
I grew up in a welding shop. I was 3 years old when my father opened for walk in work. After 20 years of growth ,pancreatic cancer took him. I now make a great living welding and machining in the hydro world. My wife stays home because she wants to, and she can. Dont be afraid to get dirty. 150,000 $ is very possible...

Thank you for explaining some of the ins and outs of welding. I’m enrolled in a California community college, Shasta College in Redding CA this summer, beginning welding. No experience whatsoever, in fact I spent a fortune on a liberal arts college degree and have gotten nowhere career wise in all of that time (26 years!!). I want a skill that is highly technical to give me an edge. I was surprised to learn that there is “book work,” in welding. Math definitely isn’t my strong suit, but it’s a challenge that pays off. Builders create and leave their mark. 🎨

Haven’t managed to get a job. Even entry level ones are wanting 2-5 years experience+ college degree.
Truly inspiring. I honest to God could not find a trade or major to pick (that is enjoyable, job security, and good pay) as a backup in case I get injured in my preferred career of Law Enforcement. This video has gave me more reasons that this is my second preferred career. Thanks mate, good on you Jason.

My dad is a self taught welder. Never went to college but studied his older brothers books. But not in America though.

Good video bro👍👍 I also started welding in 11th grade at Great Plains vocational training in Lawton Oklahoma and I retired after 42 years welding pipe. I’m well off and enjoying retirement. It’s a great profession especially for those of us who don’t want office work.
this varies with ppl im a welder and when i first started out my school was shit and then when i had my first job no one wanted to teach me shit and i work my ass off in welding school just so ppl can talk shit to me at the job site smh

, all of my past welding jobs and I don't see any future, mainly because I am a female. Most Men cannot handle being around a female and allowing me to do my job as a professional it's truly sick asf. I hate my life and I hate my job.

Title correction ! What its like to be a WELDOR ! I have stuff in 5 countries with my name on it . Ive ben to 4 other states training other shops weldors to get certified . First thing i teach them is how to spell the word correctly ! I am a WELDOR ! I run a welder ! Its not hard ppl ! Spell it right !
damn… ya so the machine used to weld is a welder and the person who uses it is a weldor. older books have it correct but newer ones do not. so what do we call the machine used to weld if we’re now the welder?

What it's like to be a welder - live paycheck to paycheck, most shops compete with McDonald's for wages. You won't be able to support a family. You get to be severely overworked. You get to have knee replacement by the time you're 40. Benefits are nearly non-existent.🙌

GE aerospace... $23/hr... pass by McDonald's on my way to and from work with a sign posted $20/hr.
The fact you think McDonald's would actually pay anyone 20 an hr is more of an endorsement to the welding industry than this video is

My mother works at a pizza place, making $20/hr... the chef makes the pizza, and she puts it in the oven. When it's done, she takes it out... making $3/hr less than I do at GE aerospace welding jet engines with over 10 certifications.
@@danielbeaird6264I can’t agree more. People think the welding industry is money money money. Just wait till they step into the door of a “unionized shop”. Welding is a great career don’t get me wrong. But most businesses that aren’t owned by millionaires are hiring for 20-25 an hour with next to no per diem. Sorry to admit but welding just isnt what they say anymore
