The reason rent is high is because of the rise in house prices like they went from 10k in the 90s to over 100k and in order for landlords to not loose money and try to make break even rent prices have to increase aswell

I mean, there's nothing wrong living in a garage. I got 3 other siblings and we only got a 3 bedroom house. So my parents decided to close up the garage and turn it into another bedroom. If you come look at it it doesn't even look like a garage it looks a lot more like a room. They even added new floor and roofing. Glad that lady has at least a roof over her head.

I have videos on my channel of the hardships of the "Bay Area". Its just where you choose to live, and knowing the cost of living in the Bay Area. I took intitiative and took a second job, sold my Condominium and moved to an area with a cheaper cost of living.
I spend $850 on a 2bd 2bth townhouse, so 1000+ for a garage not including utilities is not the best deal. If I had the money I would help someone like her to move to a lower cost of living area.
@@becky_1919 well not all of us live on the cheap side of town lady. Back when i lived in la i stayed in a remodeled garage almost exaclty like this one in North Hollywood for 800$ a month. And it was fantastic, and significantly cheaper than the surrounding apartments and a much better location that say south central. She can obviously move to a cheaper part of town if she wants to and get a much better deal for her money she just chooses not to.

Honestly if she said she had her and her 2 young children living in a tiny school bus conversion, a motor home, tiny home, a modified off grid RV, or a converted van, etc. nobody would question her to be a "bad mom". I lived on the streets at one stage. Now I have a nice home. That I guess some people would call privileged. I did work for it thro. I did sacrifice some of my family time when my kids wore young to do this. So I wouldn't call it privilege myself but I would call it security.

I agree. It could be that a lot of single parents in her position do not live in affluent communities even if it is in a nice garage. She could find at least a one bedroom for that amount in a less desirable area. But we do not know her personal situation to know why she choose that location. Hope things get better for them soon.

I love that tiny home, and what a great mother putting a roof over her children's heads which is clean, warm and comfortable. And she has managed to do this while living within her income. Awesome life skills she can pass on to her children.
Her landlord deserves a big pat on the back for creating such a lovely haven for his tenant.

Moving cities entirely is expensive, and paying moving expenses as well as first and last on a new place when you get there, plus possibly a short period of no income as you move jobs? Often out of reach financially.

Because picking up and leaving your home is harder than just dealing with what you have. Her support system is probably there, that's where she works, maybe she cant for custody reasons. You cant just up and leave to somewhere you dont know just cause it's cheaper.

Plush Productions Stop being a jerk, my friend knows EXACTLY what this women is going through because she experienced it but it was 10 times worse. She lived in Texas with a abusive father who died and left her family broke. Her family lived on the streets with her grandma's broken down car for years. She had very little clothing and had no shoes what so ever. She was driven to point of begging and stealing when she 6 years old. She looked after her single mom and her brothers and sisters. She lost everything again in a tornado and they were lucky enough to get a ride to the state they live in now with barely enough money for clothes and food. Me and my sister have given her things we take for granted. Today they still have problems but I'm glad I met her because I used to to complain over the color of my clothing when she didn't have any.

I lived with my mom ( who was going to 4 chemos a week to treat her cancer) , grandma, and 3 other siblings for 4 years in a garage. it was so stressful, i erased that period of my life from my memory, and only just remembered those 4 years with this video.

Stupid haters. My mom lived in a garage as a single parent with my half-brother when he was a baby in the '70s. They were safe, comfortable, and the family owning the house were kind to them. They were actually happy there and to this day speak fondly of that little garage. You don't need much to survive or at least be content.
