I love how Monica shots are very dark and moody, and add some mystery to the locations. Jason’s shots are just all blown out hipster portra style. Vote Monica to take over the channel.
It's just awesome to see the difference between Nick Carver and Jason. Nick went there in full pro mode, bringing his own videographer, nerding out about shots and scenes and whatnot. And Jason went there to have some fun with his girlfriend. Love both approaches
I think some of Nick's panoramic shots were absolutely top tier. I really like a lot of Jason's images too, they are the perfect complement as other's have said. I couldn't finish Thomas Heaton's videos.
Nick Carter a true working pro! You do what it takes! On a project in California, I chose my Film! I didn't use soft, weak colors, of a famous film! My pix looked better than the rest! Viva Nick!
As a years-long- fan and someone who was borned and raised in Andalucía (Málaga to be specific), as someone who has inhabited many of the places you've encountered in this trip, I applaud you. What a banger of a video, such stellar work, this channel never dissapoints 🔥
Monica's cinematography was outstanding and brought a really cool second set of eyes to the documentation of your work. Such an amazing film and even more amazing shots. Thanks for bringing us along!
I sometimes wonder to myself if you think about what your videos mean to people. To me at least, they are an event. I am excited for them in the same way I get excited for my favourite band’s new album. Except I get to have that feeling every two weeks, instead of once every four years or so. Once the dust has settled, you will go down as the person who managed to document the art of film photography in the most optimal manner. I say all this with the greatest of respect. And I am damn sure I am not the only one who feels this way. Thank you, Jason.
Back again to say that the most enjoyable work in these videos is the motion work to me. The color grading is always so incredible and gentle enough to support the simple camera work.
There are some really, really good images in here, Jason. I especially liked the moody Ilford images. I'm also a big fan of these much longer form videos, especially appreciating how long it must take you to put them together.
Over the years, you have made countless videos, taking care to demonstrate technique and best (?) practice. The most rewarding thing about this video is seeing you put these techniques to work. Like pushing Ilford 2 stops on a sunny day. I'm glad to see you being recognized by your peers...it is well-deserved. You belong up on that stage.
Wow...what an adventure!! Thanks for taking us along with you. I"m guessing Baxter was happy to see ya'll come back home.....hope to see a bit of him again in the next one!! CC
Jason, you absolutely nailed this one. Your photos were just super good consistently throughout the whole video to the point I spent half of it pausing and being like: fuck that's a good shot. I'm really glad you got your stolen rolls back, in the end it all worked out! Love Monica's shots too, I like how her perspective was very different from yours, but the pictures she took were also very good! Thank you both for this inspiring piece of content, in the world of short attention span garbage, this video really made my day!
We can feel you were enthusiastic and inspired about the project because it really transpires into your pictures. I think this is my favourite video of yours so far, great job!
Jason, thank you so much for sharing your perspective and unbelievably beautiful photography. You sir, are an artist and I am grateful that you share your work the way you do. Stay awesome.
Congrats on this banger trip! We watched it in parts over a couple of days to really take all your goodness in. The blue town was my absolutely favourite! I would buy a print of that lit door! Sick!!
I've watched several Spain trips from other photographers. Your video is by far the best! I've been thinking about what cameras and film I would bring. My Olympus OM-4 (OM-1 for backup). 50mm f1.4 (one of the sharpest lenses I've ever used) and the 28mm f2.8. Yashica 124. (If I could get the money I would buy a Pentax 67 or Pentax 645N) I think I would keep the film simple. T-Max 100 / 400 (35 & 120) and maybe a few rolls of T-Max 3200. A chance of a lifetime and you freakin nailed it. You're the man!
It's fascinating to see the different photographers' work play out across their youtube channels. Aesthetic sensibilities may differ but your vibe, Jason, is the best.
Stellar production by both of you. Your photography on this project was really on point and I loved Monica’s cinematography. You’re a master story teller, from the photos to the b-roll and the audio tracks, really great stuff Jason. I really enjoy your long format videos and look forward to more of these down the road. Stellar work!
As a fan I am so very impressed with the long days and nights of work performed. All of the shots were excellent. There was a moment near the end that you began to question your work, I felt badly for you. I quest the lessen of this point is to trust your aesthetic judgment under adversity. You are your own Artist. That is why I love your work.
The south of Spain is legitimately my favorite little corner on God's green (aerochrome red?) earth. Photography aside, it's just perfect. I don't know how many time I'm gonna end up watching this video. Thank you, Jason, and thank you to the tourism board of Andalucia!
I lived in Granada for 6 months last year and took so much good film. Went to salobreña almost every weekend too. So gorgeous. Living vicariously through you in this video. Great shots Jason
Phenomenal. I love Spain. Lived there a few years and tooled around all of Andalucia. Too bad I wasn't much of a photographer then but I got many great shots (sentimental if nothing else) and have them in a whole file cabinet. I need to get them out and see if I have anything similar. You guys made a great team and perhaps this is my favorite video of all the photographers that did this project.
I recognized you on Thomas Heaton's video, and I have so been looking forward to your laid back style on this project. THANK YOU! I spent a week in Malaga in December 2022, such a pretty place. You really did justice to the beauty of the place. Tell the tourist board I can't wait to go back, in part inspired by your video. I hope they invite you back again next year.
Always enjoy your long format films Jason! Monica's a bit of a gun too, loved seeing her take on the locations mixed in with yours. My partner and I spent 3 weeks travelling around Spain last year and it was so nice to revisit a few of the spots through your eyes. Andalucia was one of my favourites also. It seems like you missed exploring all the abandoned buildings on the other side of the bridge in Ronda, you would have loved it. Anyway, congrats on the commission, that's wicked 👏
One of your best videos! I enjoyed it a lot. I love Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Salamanca) but watching this is pushing me to plan a trip there soon! Thanks for this! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I thought this was incredible btw. Lots of keepers and more. I just stumbled on this as my TH-cam autoplay was active and watched it all the way through finishing @2am!!! Very nice work all around! I haven’t shot film in years but this is starting to make me think more about it again. Regards, Mike
Totally drown into your video! I love your composition and like the way you isolate the subject. I find it hard to compose with wide angle lens and you defnitely nailed it!!! Also Monica's photos is fire!! It's really help cleanse the palette after watching your photo.
nice to see yuo all excioted ! the wee smiles.. . Ive been watchin Nick .. (of course) and Thomas (UK bro) .. now enjoying your take... know Andalusia well .. good call on them for comission - its a beautiful part of spain .. Granada is spectacular
Awesome feature length episode. Interesting that the tourist board asked you to come in December. Full kudos to Monica for her shots, they were awesome
Also I really like how you go through the roll at the end and say the number of keepers and portfolio shots 👍 Would be awesome one day for you to do a portfolio vid?
Been waiting for this one. Watched all of Nick Carvers videos and knew this one was going to be coming out. It's like an Avengers team of photographers. Great footage!
Video @ 12:35 "even on a rainy day" - I love the drama and ambiance of B&W images taken in the rain. You should have brought the Nikon Action Touch you acquired at Filmstock 2023 Video @ 27:32 "this entire roll of HP5 blanked-out" - Mamiya 6 & Mamiya 7 lenses have an internal flex-cable that begins to fail & become intermittent (bending paperclip effect).
That was a lot of elaborate stuff. Just trying to fool me into thinking that you're the one they hired the photograph. I can clearly tell it was Monica they wanted
just spent 9 Days in Palma de Mallorca and shot like 2 rolls of Ultramax and in February I went to Valencia and got there some nice photos as well. Malaga is next on the list!
So fun to compare this to the Heaton and Carver videos of the same event. Without a tripod most of the time, sure looks like you might have had the most fun. Neither of them had a Monica either. Pretty sure Hopper would have approved of many of your images. Nice job.
@21:45 Patience...great point @grainydays. I've practiced this on so many occasions. On one particular vacation, I walked out to about 30 feet or so from the ocean and stayed in that one spot for 2.5hrs through sunset. We were there so long a couple on the 16th floor of the hotel behind us came down to ask what we were doing. 😂 During that time, I photographed a bon fire, a plastic dragon toy in the sand, macro images of sea shells, a couple holding hands on the water's edge, a portrait of a beachgoer, breaking waves, some dude skim boarding, a rainbow, silhouettes of people walking the beach, and sunset. Some of THE BEST images I've ever shot. If you stay in one place long enough, something is bound to happen.
Monica's first commission, almost adequately documented by Jason.
I love how Monica shots are very dark and moody, and add some mystery to the locations. Jason’s shots are just all blown out hipster portra style. Vote Monica to take over the channel.

monica's dark look is great but I prefer jason's style, both got detais in the sky but monica's sky looks a lil bit dirty you know what i mean.
I genuinely love Monica's photos, thank you for including them!
Good man Jason!
It's just awesome to see the difference between Nick Carver and Jason. Nick went there in full pro mode, bringing his own videographer, nerding out about shots and scenes and whatnot. And Jason went there to have some fun with his girlfriend. Love both approaches
Thomas Heaton was kind of in the middle I'd say...his video of this was interesting too....he just seemed so lost at times.
I think the variety gives so much more perspective on the locations, a more objective look and a more fun-on-vacation look
Viva Nick!
Shooting infrared and black and white film all the time..
As a years-long- fan and someone who was borned and raised in Andalucía (Málaga to be specific), as someone who has inhabited many of the places you've encountered in this trip, I applaud you.
What a banger of a video, such stellar work, this channel never dissapoints 🔥
My daughter was born a couple days ago. This was the perfect video for hanging around in the hospital. Incredible work Jason. Monica too!
Monica's cinematography was outstanding and brought a really cool second set of eyes to the documentation of your work. Such an amazing film and even more amazing shots. Thanks for bringing us along!
The combo zoom and aspect ratio change at 34:04 is absolutely stellar
This is genuinely the happiest I’ve ever seen Jason
And the moment you see that it's an hour and a half long. Really impressive work
I sometimes wonder to myself if you think about what your videos mean to people. To me at least, they are an event. I am excited for them in the same way I get excited for my favourite band’s new album. Except I get to have that feeling every two weeks, instead of once every four years or so.

TH-cam content at its best. Sensational photography.
Edward hopper visits Spain. I really can see Edward’s inspiration in Jason’s photos on this trip more than ever. Beautiful
52:48 Yes! It's impossible not to remember the Nighthawks looking at this photo
@@LatamDoomer absolutely!!! Couldn’t agree more, it’s beautiful

babe wake up new grainydays video dropped
Life is like film. You can't erase it and you will fuck it up. But it's still beautiful in it's own way.
+ its very expensive and not many people care about it anymore
Imagine if it was etch-a-sketchable, lol
Where you could always erase before development happened.
My day was grainy, but thanks to this new upload it is now even grainier!
loving that minimal tecno in the background!
I've been waiting for this ever since I saw your mug at the background of Heatons video 👍
There are some really, really good images in here, Jason. I especially liked the moody Ilford images. I'm also a big fan of these much longer form videos, especially appreciating how long it must take you to put them together.
I’m glad there is finally an explanation for why photography youtubers seem to have been flocking to Andalusia at the same time.
The other youtubers all explained why they were there too?!
Literally every one of them explained it clearly. 😂
One week in Spain, Jason loves pain. Budget drama movie, still better than most movies out of 2023.
These are by far my favourite shots from all the photos at this location.
We have been blessed with an over hour long video! The gods have listened
I love Monica! She makes every video she’s in better (and they’re very good to begin with).
LOVEEE The long....... format version

I appreciate the dub techno music that starts playing when Jaime shows up.
All of those evening shots in Montefrio are absolute bangers.

Thanks!

Jason, thank you so much for sharing your perspective and unbelievably beautiful photography. You sir, are an artist and I am grateful that you share your work the way you do. Stay awesome.
Great trip, captured Andalucia beautifully, was great having both of your shots in there. Thanks for taking the time to make this, thoroughly enjoyed.
You and Monica are definitely meant for each other. Spain looks amazing. Each area so unique you need months to do a proper Spain visit.
Congrats on this banger trip! We watched it in parts over a couple of days to really take all your goodness in. The blue town was my absolutely favourite! I would buy a print of that lit door! Sick!!

I think the shots got progressively better on average through the trip. That pair at 1:18:59 definitely get participation medals.

Hey Jason, I’m pretty sure the Voigtlander Bessa R4 series has 16mm frame lines. It’s meant to be an ultra wide angle rangefinder
