This is a beautiful video. The hymn is sung in refined fashion; and what a fine hymn it is. What only the English could do in adding to the character of our civilisation.
The English ... with the help of the Holy Spirit, of course. He is NOT a rare visitor among those oh-so-secular people of the land with the three crosses on its beautiful flag. The ONLY large-scale world events of the 2020s to not be tainted and darkened and suffused with things diabolical were the mourning for and funeral of Her Late Majesty, and the Coronation of her heir. The Holy Spirit was there front and centre, and we saw unity, harmony, quietness, humility, kindness, depth, gratitude, forgiveness, cleansing, dignity, love, truth, patience, care and so many other beautiful things... Thanks be to God

We have a father who recides within us all wars are because our hearts are not right with god love is always with us so no excuse to blame god for our lack of revealing and showing his love
Thank you for posting, I came across this video while researching my ancestry, I knew Down Ampney was linked to Ralph Vaughan Williams, however the Hungerfords are my great grandfathers, they lived at Farleigh Hungerford Castle, was lovely to see interior and exterior views of the church, which is quite beautiful.....take care

After I was broken and begged, He came to me too, as working to this end is (now) my task too, Never expected it, and can hardly express how grateful I am for God's kindness and mercy. I've (probably) never been an atheist, but as a PhD scientist I wanted evidence (my parents' first choice of name for me would have been Thomas) The Holy Trinity were so immeasurably kind as to supply that evidence in abundance, and I am no longer blind. Thanks be to God.
While respecting and admiring you, friend, I have to hint to you that you can't REALLY be lifted by this music on a purely humanist level. The beauty in this is the overriding and wondrous and cleansing and inspiring beauty of the Holy Spirit. To be honest, I don't think one can reach that through any other route, and so should probably call it what it is. I do.
I have sung this many times but never noticed it was by Vaughan Williams. Nor had I any idea 'Down Ampney' was a place - I assumed 'down' referred to 'come down' in the title and 'Ampney' was the name of the writer!
