The 24hr dial on the Timex is actually super useful for setting the date! When you're cycling between watches and pick it up to set the time, you never know if it's am or pm - if you have to turn the hands all the way around to get to am or you're good to go with a slight adjustment.
@@IDKline if you know am/pm you know if you are in the safe zone or not and can then set the time and date without spinning the hands past 12. Example: if you want to set for 5pm and the watch says 3 you can use the 24 hour sub dial to know if you need to move 2 hours ahead or 14 hours ahead.
Wouldn't you like to shop at Albert Villa? I'm all for experimenting but welcome that the Rivenera is 'not goth'. All in the eyes of the beholder though.
I also found the Maen moonphase to be a standout at Wind Up this year. I only left with one watch, still on my mind from the debut last year, the Lorca Model No. 1.

I typically only walk out with watch accessories like straps and cases, I have yet to purchase a watch then and there (I tried with Stowa but they had to special order it).
Echo Neutra have some really interesting designs! What a time for micro brands. Maen, Formex, Baltic, Lorca, Lorier, Echo, Farer, frickin CW. Spoilt for choice.
That misaligned minute track on the Vaer is entirely unacceptable Edit: I was wrong and recognize the makers are aligned. The crime, however, is just terrible design.
Every minute/second marker is aligned, plus every odd space between is divided by four more lines into five smaller intervals. It doesn't make much sense with an 8-tick movement, but it's not a chronograph, so it doesn't matter anyway. The odd spaces are orange, the even spaces are pale yellow, the dashes are white. The white and yellow blend into each other, making the markers seem misaligned.
I'm really liking that Echo Neutra Rivanera! I saw the release but wasn't sold. I kind of am now, it looks great! I'm not sure if it would work with lots of different colored straps the same way a Cartier Tank would, but I like it in monochrome a lot anyway. Thanks for showing it off!
Cool New pickups ! I've been particularly interested in the Echo/Neutra Rivanera. The only thing that might concern me is the crown being hexagonal and it's a manual wind movement. Have you found it to be a difficult crown to manipulate?

I think the Rivanera is truly a great choice. Were it not for the steep price, I probably would have taken the plunge already. It is very refreshing in an understated and almost edgy way, while entirely in keeping with the tank tradition. For the Maen I'm quite convinced it's a good watch, but if I wanted a moon phase, the design of Loresum and Raymond Blanc's petite 35mm gold PVD version call out stronger, bit to mention the unusual Burbidge from Farer. I think there is an interesting tension between very modern bracelet with a rather traditional feeling dial set in a somewhat contrarian case shape. It does seem to be well judged on size, but I'm basically not sure I'd pick it from a lineup in the metal. You did though. The Carer is just really not resonating with me. They have various other watches that would appeal more. The Timex puzzles me a little. It may be a great value piece, but it's also just on a lesser level compared to the others and when you went to a watch fair so must have known you wouldn't be able to get a good fit on the bracelet, I'm not sure why you bought it.
I've been to Windup Chicago and as of last weekend, two Intersects, and now a Minutes+Hours. I picked up an Astor+Banks Fortitude Pro in powder blue last weekend, which I am loving. I highly recommend going to one if you can do it. I flew in for Chicago and have no regrets.

They'll just go "Oh is that a Patek? Nice, I should really get my hands on one of those, they look great."

Made me question why people are into watches, on the analog side, especially automatics they are all the same in my view, and even then I could not find a white dial with Arabic numerals filed style, day/date, drilled lugs with jubilee bracelet! oh and realized lume is just shit, nothing beats Casio's twist wrist to light up, or a timer!

Being a woman with a 16cm wrist I like a well articulated bracelet or a Milanese. Otherwise it’s too clunky.
