    See link in bottom of description for the build video. Hope it helps. When I made the restoration video, I didn’t expect to get views so I didn’t spend much time describing the processes, but all the info you need got spraying raptor liner is on TH-cam. Most parts can be ordered from eBay, Amazon, or parts dealers.

    My 2003 SLT durango has over 180k miles, I do all basic maintenance and still runs ok but,... I'd like to really bring it back to what it is supposed to be. Some minor rusting and dull paint showing signs that needs attention. I love this SUV! I'm trying to do some upgrades and have a bit of restoration done. / thanks for the video! (PS- since I started doing basic maintenance myself, it runs very nice).

    Three years ago I did a full detail on my folks 2002 Dodge Durango and when starting it up it did not sound right with ticking like sounds but drives without issues. Tomorrow (now Monday) I will become the new owner due to circumstances and I am pretty certain it's the 4.7 engine (with 125k miles). I would definitely love to get in contact with this group to get this Durango back into good running order with community insight!

    I bought my son this truck for his 16th birthday with 130k miles. I got it back last summer and now have 170k. The more I drive it the more I think I don't want to get rid of it. I just did exhaust gaskets and will do timing chain soon. I also put a 3" lift and ordered 33s for it will be here in a few days. Before winter sets in I'm painting it the new dodge battleship gray. I love what you did to the interior and may do that too. Seems much more suitable for what I use it for. Good job man keep it up!

      That’s awesome and thanks! I just posted a new video on it, my son has inherited it. He may grade someday and I’ll get back because it’s really a great fishing/hunting/dog moving truck.

      I drive it to work and tow my lawn trailer 3-4 days a week. My wife and I started boondock camping last year so I'm going to color match my 94 camper for a sweet looking rig. Got the new tires on Sunday. Hoping the GM layoff gets to me so I can get it done before fall camping sets in.

    I always laugh how people talk about them being junk. Dropped valve seats and cracked heads. I talked with an R&D specialist for Dodge, she was running the clinics during MoParty on the Holley Hemi swap program for the Dakotas... she said the Hemi had that problem too. Especially when the temps get north of 250F. Change the oil dont over heat it. Common knowledge of any interal combustion engine.
    My 2004 has only 125,xxx miles, but it has the heat cycles for 20 years worth now. Finally had to do a tune up last year. There's people with close to 300k on them with zero issues and never had to pop any of the seals on the engine. People who complain are just way to aggressive with it and dont service it.

    Question I have a 2000 dodge Durango when I turn on Durango it take three times of cranking before it starts what could that be?

    • @Cpennington57
      @Cpennington57  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The fuel lines are super old by now if they’ve never been replaced, so check into that. If there is any type of leak (dry rot/crack), it’ll take longer for the fuel pressure to build up. Test it this way: turn key forward, but don’t start. Leave forward for 10 seconds, then crank to start. If it starts right up, I’d say it’s a bad fuel line and it’s taking longer for the fuel pump to pressure up the fuel system. Let me know how it works out!

      No plans as of now. I have so many other projects going on and this ride is just waiting on my son to get his permit later this year. I’ll probably do some videos with him conducting maintenance and any upgrades he wants to do, then turn it over to him when he gets his license next year so I can foresee some more videos in the future. Right now it’s a parked time capsule. I had one other video of the restoration/modification on my channel.

    any idea how to fix hyperflash? i went to switchbacks in mine and everyone suggests resistors but.... id prefer a relay fix over a resistor fix

    • @Cpennington57
      @Cpennington57  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 98 59 I think I got a bad ground somewhere cuz periodically it will stumble can anybody help me

    • @Cpennington57
      @Cpennington57  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That could be caused by different systems, why do you think it’s a ground? Faulty ignition coils, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and as you said, a ground. Battery ground, ground between block and frame (the first couple I’d look at).
      Then of course it could be fuel related. Plugged or congested injectors, TPS, IACV, or vac lines. Another thing that can cause a stumble is a clogged up catalytic converter. It’s honestly best to have a mechanic look at it.
      So you have a check engine light on? Any diagnostic codes?

    • @Cpennington57
      @Cpennington57  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bad fuel does this as well! It’s not likely the case but we’ve had that issue at one gas station. Switched stations and no issues

    • @timgoble9891
      @timgoble9891 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cpennington57 yeah everything you mentioned there's been all brand new I did change my ground cable on the battery it was kind of janky and that cured 90% of it but every now and then it'll give one so I'm thinking there could be another ground

    • @Cpennington57
      @Cpennington57  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timgoble9891 it’s one of those things you gotta look at to figure it out, I’m sorry I can’t help unless you’re in NW FL. I’m sure it’s pretty annoying. Are your gauges surging at all when this happens? If all gauges surge, alternator issue (connection points and ground need to be checked or have it inspected at Autozone). If your Tach is dipping, check the IAC or TPS again to make sure they are clean and operational. Also your air filter and throttle body itself, make sure everything is clean as a whistle. Sometimes it’s just something very simple. I hope that’s the case!

    Hi, Chris just a quick question,
    so y 3001 Durango is having an AC problem and they told me I need to replace it however through my research I was able to see it might be cuz of the mechanical fan cuz the ac switches off when the car is idling and I was thinking of installing an external electric fan cuz it might not be cuz of the ac. Sorry I was trying to explain the problem the way I understood it lol.

    • @Cpennington57
      @Cpennington57  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here’s something to check… and I’ve made a video of it but haven’t posted it yet. Below the passenger side glove box is your blower. You’ll find a white (usually white) resister held on by 2 bolts and a plug with several wires. Unplug it, take that resistor off and see if it’s melted. If it’s black and melted (common issue and I’ve replaced 2, about to replace it again), that may be your issue and it’s a $12 fix! You can order the resistor on Amazon and it’ll come with new wiring and a plug. So check that out and let me know.

    • @Cpennington57
      @Cpennington57  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One more thing with that resistor, just turn the truck on, ac on, grab the plug that connects to the resistor and move it back and forth. If your ac comes on, that’s definitely it. If it doesn’t, then remove the resistor like I said and inspect, replace if necessary. It’s 99% of ac issues on Durango’s and Dakotas.

    One thing with the 4.7 its not that bad of a engine i just like the old la engines but DO NOT RUN 4.7 HOT never never never overheat the engine it will crack the head immediately other than that it's a pretty sound engine and this is from a guy that drives nothing but dodges it has been repairing cars and trucks for 40 years I just don't like anyting Mercedes has designed I believe their engines are well-built they're just over thought and there's a lot of s*** on the engine that just doesn't need to be there Simplicity is the best
