New shoes, lean forward at the ankles straight trunk but leaning body, shoulders help the elbows back, use the bunny hop from your calves as well as your big muscles to push every step, jumping in place and landing where you run same as the jump land, the angle of the your body should help you push forward off ground and not just up, and throw your elbows back behind you to help stabilize and minimize side bouncing or up and down bounding. And use a metronome at 180 spm! May be old school but these are things that are seriously helping me. Proper running form is what saves your feet and calves and back and all muscles and joints. Smaller steps more often, always! And that leaning at the ankles can be revolutionary I practice with a wall falling towards it to remind me body how to stay straight. Of course speed affects how far you lean and how far you throw your elbows back back. It also affects your spm, but I try to keep mine at a minimum of 180 always, even uphill. And downhill it goes way up. My mantra sometimes is “1234 I declare a thumbwar 5678 try to keep your thumb straight” or “im ready” like spongebob because both those things seem to be at 180 bpm, at least in my head. Hope any of this helps man! Im obsessed about it right now and constantly trying to remind myself and keep practicing it too.

Fair play mate! The sub 20 is not easy, only just managed to crack it the other week. I'd say intervals were the game changer for me so as much as they suck, they are important. Keep going though i'm sure you'll smash it

Thank you!!! Yes interval training is definitely something I need to do as much as possible - I’ve heard how beneficial it is

I’m a relative new runner. I had the same foot problem at the beginning. I believe because of bad shoes. Once I swapped to actual running shoes + proper socks, the problem went away. Still I suggest to ask someone with experience!

I’m starting to think I need new running shoes and proper running socks. If your foot problem went away hopefully mine would go as well

I have the exact same problem! I get pins/needles around 5k in. I've tried different shoes, massage ball, stretching compression socks etc. If you find a solution please let me know :D
