Big bluegill and crappie in shallow pencil reeds. Excellent region for ice fishing and big panfish. Shallow, fertile lakes grow big fish.
Explanation on where to find big panfish and how to catch them. Enormous crappie, one of the largest ever caught on Jason Mitchell Outdoors is the star of the episode. Fun shallow water ice fishing opportunity.

Can you do an overview of inline reels maybe, Clam, 13 , and others ?
youtube has some , but for those of us who don’t live near an ice show or have access to hands on reels, it’s hard to tell if a certain reel has drag resistance while reeling in. I like the look of those reels, I still use only crappie reels , never could stand spinning reels for line twist loops.

At times you might. The water had a stain when we fished it.

At 6:40 you put the biggest smile on my face stressing the importance of putting monster Bull Gills back and the explanation why! Thank you for doing that! Tight lines guys and hope to see you on the ice some time!

No measurement of the crappie. I don't believe you. Flat ruler pinch tail, do it!

      What would be your guess?

@@JasonMitchellOutdoors 16 3/8" 2.4lbs. I would like to see the bigger fish weighed/measured atleast, no guessing. I do watch videos throughout the day. I ice fish as well not as often. Ohio kinda sucks, weather wise.

@@ecoshawbob5738 We could measure them but on really cold days especially, the fish is out of the water longer. When filming, we probably have to handle fish a little longer to get the cut away shots and we don't like stressing out the fish so we try and get them back fast. If we don't have a tape handy, we just get them back in the water and make a best guess without trying to mislead anybody or exaggerate. If we don't put the fish on a tape, it is for the survival of the fish. Good luck on the ice this winter!

Handling thous of fish you learn to be pretty spot on with length, weight. But once in awhile its good put one up against a ruler for skeptics or ppl who just like to see it. Nice work Jason!
