      cdelve3125 nah for 40k there’s almost nothing that offers what a Tesla does. For its acceleration, handling, responsiveness, autopilot, infotainment system, 360° sentry mode, and technology, there’s virtually nothing that offers what it can. There are some really good options cheaper than it, but they lack many of the features that come standard with a Tesla. And there are some competitors that offer what a Tesla does, but they’re *significantly* more expensive to buy and maintain. You can’t beat the value for a 39-48k Tesla.

    Very similar feelings, I am a happy French owner of a TM3SR+ MIC. I didn’t expect to become that addicted to the auto pilot which is better than any other car I tried and could afford. But There is some thing you didn’t even bother to mention as a lucky citizen of Norway, the biggest bonus that comes with tesla, as a French user in 2021 is the supercharger network. The main competition in France is ionity, far far behind in sites density, in stalls (10 times less than Tesla), in reliability, in price and in features (toilets, drinks, food …). While road trips are easy with Tesla, You have to be a very wise EV driver to avoid miserable situations in France, and It’s even harder southern and Eastern Europe.

    “Why do you want an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel? Because you’re used to it, right?”
    Exactly. That interior is one of my most favorite aspects of my Model 3 SR+! I agree - the big, solo, center mounted screen is simply brilliant. And it totally fits the nature and design of the car. I’ve seen people add instrument clusters behind the steering wheel - totally ugly!
    But humans like what they know and change is hard for them. They’ll resist, push back, and won’t even try something different - especially radically different. (In the final analysis, that’s why here in the US EVs have been slow to take hold. All the other given “reasons” are distracters - people here don’t like change. They’re scared of it. Why do you think McD’s and Budweiser are so popular?)
    Great video, Bjorn! Love the ride along aspect and the no-nonsense evaluations you make. Yes, they’re your opinions - but they’re very well informed opinions.

      “Why do you want an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel? Because you’re used to it, right?” not really it is the shortest distance for information to road with a lower distraction then a centered instrument. you can test it by yourself horizontal and vertical eye movement's are less stressful then diagonal movement's, because we read from LR or RL and from top to bottom.

      @ezpoppy55 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Francis-yc9nc I’m 65 and have been driving for 50 years, all (except the last five months) in vehicles with traditional layouts. I don’t find it any harder or more “dangerous” to look down than it is to glance diagonally to the screen. At least for me, it’s not any more difficult. Maybe I have magic eyes, but I seriously doubt it.
      The center screen is certainly different - in the beginning. But like regen braking, once you give yourself a chance to use it for awhile, it becomes normal.
      Actually, I don’t spend much time looking at the screen when I’m driving. I like to keep my eyes on the road, especially in “interesting” situations. ACC is excellent at monitoring my speed, Navigate takes care of, well, navigating, and Auto Steer keeps me in my lane.

      When I drive my 2nd car, a Volt, I so much hate the screen cluster behind the steering wheel. It just creates a big bump on the dash and cut out visibility. One aspect that many forget to mention is how good the forward visibility is in the TM3... especially with the low dash and the sharp drop of the hood. You can place this car so well in the space because of it.

    Thank you for your verdict bjorn. I totally agree in all aspects of your impressions, because i love my SR+ MIC LFP 2021 , even with the single screen now. After you transformed from ICE to tesla ergonomics its much easier and convenient to drive. For me its the best daily car in its price class today. Its very fun to drive like a go cart and brings very time a smile on my face when i realize how cheap the consumption is. No compromise if you can charge at home. The only downside is the steering angle width compared to my former 3 series BMW, but i got used to it now. Keep going with videos like this. Its very rare and refreshing to see such impressions, becauze no one realize this what a special car the SR+ is if you drive a longer time with it.

    I've been watching your channel/videos pretty much from the very beginning. The first trip to the North Cape, Europe/Paris, etc. etc.
    The last 2-3 years I sadly haven't really been able to follow everything since life was (and still is..) busy as you know what. But I must say that I really enjoyed watching you in action again and I really loved this format.
    Feels like the original Bjørn, but with more wisdom 😋.
    Next year, after years of patience, I hope to be able to finally join the Tesla family. Driving it to and through Scandinavia is one of my biggest wishes. The Jafs burger is on me if I catch you nearby and so is the drink. Just let me know if "any juice is good juice" also applies to humans in restaurants 😁🤣

    I totally agree with you on the touchscreen. There is something else behind this idea: Let the driver NOT be a "drive data processor", and don't make the driver's seat a "control center", but treat the driver more like other passengers in the car. Actually, the amount of information and data you need to constantly see while driving is much less than most people think. Why distract and annoy the driver with information he/she doesn't need to see? This is also the reason why I don't like HUDs. Who needs redundant information constantly hovering in front of you? I just think Tesla does it right, and in the most future-oriented way.

    Compared with my old Merc C350, a Model 3 SR+ with all the features is indeed really a bargain. Being from Canada sure it is a Fremont made car with NCA still, but it is such a good car for the money that you pay for (especially with our EV incentive for the SR+ trim). Having been warned about fit and finish issues, I certainly didn't see any issues with the car when I picked it up 3 weeks ago.
    The interesting conversation that I had with my in-laws yesterday was that with my 1000km of driving in the last 3 weeks, I paid about 15CAD for the electricity that I used, vs the 180CAD of my old C350 fill up for the same range.
    Driving this car has certainly caused me to think about getting another Model 3 for when I have to go back to work (sized down to 1 car currently since all is working from home)

    I have heard that there is more power to the motor to offset the weight of the LFP battery. In scan my Tesla it shows around 240kW under full acceleration. Someone also commented on one of your videos that the MIC version has the performance rear motor. This might explain the nice sound. I have this same car and the noise is addictive. I find myself hammering it whenever I can. Traction control in the wet is the best I have ever experienced too. Instant response.

  • @AA-dg4oo
    @AA-dg4oo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I literally love my Model 3 2021 SR+. Here are couple of negative things I found. Remember I’m just neat picking and I hope some engineers at Tesla read this. I also strongly recommend this car. It blows your mind:
    -The speed limit sign recognition is really bad specially comparing with my older Volvo V90. Volvo must be the benchmark for that feature. I’m sure Tesla will get there but it’s not definitely there. E.g. it doesn’t pickup road work speed limits or dynamic digital spped limits. Sometimes it switches to new speed limit roughly 20m after the sign location (maybe it validates it with a cloud service). Sometimes it picks up speed limit on ramps.
    - Side mirrors do not cover blind spots. It caused me to do some panic manuvairs. I started teach myself to look at screen when in doubt but it’s inefficient.
    - You must know the trick to close the frunk otherwise it won’t close on the first try.
    -In some scenarios I want to switch blinkers from left to right immediately (e.g. in round abouts). It’s not easy. You have to turn off left then turn on right which consumes time. I started to use only right blinker like what Björn is doing here. But this decreases the roundabout efficiency.
    -Turn ratio should have been a bit better.
    -To turn off auto pilot for lane changing you can use the right stick but I would rather use turn signal and apply torque on steering wheel. But these two should happen at very same time otherwise you left with a blinking blinker and a solid locked to lane steering wheel.
    -Sometimes when I get off the car and I’m still next to doors with my phone in pocket, it locks the doors doesn’t give me enough time to plug-in the car. The worse part is, it closes the charging port too. So I have to unlock and re open the charging port. I think the timer or distance needs some tuning. I know that Bluetooth low energy is a bit tricky to work specially if the phone is locked (it stops or reduce sending beacons) but maybe cameras can be used to verify the owner is still there? I use Björn’s trick to close driver door halfway
