Well here it is, kickstarting the Amiga month, a cover I've been wanting to do for so long but only felt I could do the original composition justice now : The Final Fight / Intro theme from Turrican 2 by Chris Huelsbeck. Sitting at 49 individual tracks, over 7 minutes long, this is my longest biggest and most ambitious cover to date. I took me weeks of planning , recording and editing. I had to work on this while working on my existing schedule, hence my silence on some social platforms at time. I feel this was worth it and I'm very happy with the way it turned out . I took some very minor liberties but all in all I tried to stay almost 100% faithful to the original composition. Don't forget you can support the channel on Patreon ;)
@@banjoguyollie That's cool mate, I'd love to meet Chris in person someday and thank him for doing amazing music for my favourite games like TURRICAN 1 & 2
This works on so many levels.. it's one of my favorite AMIGA Tunes ever, and you've recovered it's spirit so brilliantly.. I love this so much.. Thank you, great work!
Gaaaaaaaaad. I'm biased when it comes to Amiga stuff and Turrican but you've excelled yourself this time Ollie. That was incredible. So many instruments that all fit perfectly and I'm surprised you didn't have a fire hazard on your hands at 1:04 and 5:45! Thanks for making up for a pretty rough Monday!
A very respectful job recreating this so faithfully. The masterful tune of course is where the genius lies but hats off for such a faithful job using what you have. Your efforts are different from others that choose to remix and it's obvious you have more talent in just one of your fingers
Just found your channel and don't know why I never stumbled over this before. My favourite computer game soundtrack ever and such a superb arrangement and instrumentation! You really nailed the feeling of these tracks!!!
2 months after I wrote this comment, the best friend I had in school that this song reminded me of has come back into my life after 20 years. We used to play Turrican together as kids. Just amazing
Wow, the choice of instruments and the instrumentation is just UNGODLY. Why am I only hearing this now? I just wanted the TSA version of this song and your cover came up. I said "what the hell, sure i'll take a listen" and then you come along! Fantastic! If you ever visit Seattle, USA I'll buy you a beer or other drink and show my appreciation. :)
One of my all time favorite Amiga & Chris Hüelsbeck tracks - and you just took it to a even higher level! Fantastic work, mindblown about some of your instruments and how you pulled this off... going to play this on repeat very often!
Really beautiful interpretation, the way you play that melody on the mandolin really brings out the memorable brilliance of Huelsbeck's very underrated score. This track was a huge part of my childhood (Amiga CDTV) and inspired me a lot as a composer. I can see and hear the amount of work that went into this, it's a phenomenal musical achievement. Thanks for sharing!
Ollie, you're a hero of the internet. I have never heard of this game, but this was a beautiful video. I'm in awe of your talent sir, thank you and keep up the great work!
I am getting back to this one over and over. Amazing! I am so looking forward to your new covers. Each piece is better than the previous one. Hats off to you, Ollie.
Bjr Ollie ! Toujours fan de ton travail, je n'avais jamais osé laisser de commentaires, mais la, Turrican 2, tu touches la corde sensible de mon enfance ! Hyper impressionnant ! Je n'ose imaginer les heures de boulot pour ce résultat. Merci.
I think Chis Hülsbeck used some kind of programming sorcery for his tunes, where no samples were used, but still sounded very organic. However, it was still full synth music. This fully analogue rendition of this song is such a perfect wonder to behold (hear)
Wowzers mate, what a fantastic video and cover. Very well done. This one must of taken a while as it's a long song. So many different instruments used here. This Video will do incredibly well.
i used to just sit through the whole intro just to listen to the whole song on my commodore monitor, not that i minded the intro, the anime-style approach was right up my alley. This is an amazing cover, thank you for this.
Just an awesome rendition. I hear so many remixes and interpretations of Chris Huelsbecks work, and only a few work, and you are one of them. Tony Fluke Wiren is the other. Excellent work :)
This version of Turrican's song is very refreshing, doing the opposite way to the usual one, covering with real instruments from the original synthesized ones, and on top of that, being very faithful to the original sound.
Oh man, I am so happy to see someone does Amiga music covers on youtube! And Turrican on top of that! The Wall from Turrican 2 is my all time favorite song, but the main theme is almost as awesome. Now, if you would do the theme of Monty On The Run (C64), I could die happy! :)
Everytime you put out a new song, I'm like "Ah this is my new favorite !" Ah this is my new favorite! Seriously it's so well done and I appreciate the time and love you put into each of these songs. Can't wait to buy this one and add it to my playlists!
Insta sub!!!! Holy moly this made me tear up. All the memories, all the crushed joysticks, all the high score entries! Amazing setup, arrangement and harmonies. Perfect. This cover actually dethroned the Machinae Supremacy version in my books! Thank you for doing this for us old skool Amigamers!
Of all the remixes of this song, I haven't heard MS cover it. I've heard plenty of other tracks from them, will check that out, after I break the replay button on this track! :)
@@maverickbna Did you check it out yet? What are your thoughts on MaSu approach? And the amount of confidence when they added their own bits - which fantastically fitted in, to my surprise...
Awesome! Great work Ollie! Any chance of doing Shadow of the Beast (Underground level a.k.a the cave/in the tree)....please 😁👍 IK+ would also be a cool one to do too!
I wanted to write something witty, but your interpretation just left me speechless. It's one of the best and by far the most original cover of Huelsbeck's flagship classic. Made my day.
This is a fantastic version. Extra kudos for the mandolin, accordian, banjo and a whole slew of instruments that I would of never thought to use in a cover of this great intro tune. Many thanks.
I keep coming back to this, its note for note perfect 👍 your shadow of the beast performances inspired me to sculpt a Shadow Of The Beast statue, love your Amiga performances, you deserve nore credit for your work
Have to watch/listen the intro almost every time when booting anything on the system. Quite long track, as it is with this game usually :). Thank you for doing this, Amiga month sound really good.
This is just...wow. Brings back all the memories, you really outdid yourself. I feel you really capture what the music always sounded like in my head as a kid while playing. Really nice, keep it up :)
This song and absolutely all you do is so joy envokin and Im speechles how great all your covers and songs are! So beautiful and initially I wasn't fan of banjobased music but oh boy You changed my perspective so thank you very much and keep coming the greatness!! Greetings from Finland :)

Same here, just awesome.
Unbelievable. Perfect cover. The author is clearly a very talented musician.
only one word: EXCELLENT
Un purista amiga come me può solo inchinarsi e piangere, sto piangendo sperando che i miei figli non mi vedano. A 40 anni è dura ricordare tutto ciò.
