    It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

    I love the look! I love the feel of a small home, It’s hard to explain but it makes you feel cozy and warm! It brings back memories of being a child and hiding under a table draped by a blanket, you feel secure and safe!

      Lol. Just wait until the lady takes a huge, filthy, loud shit the day after they move in, and because the house is so small and made of arts supplies and granola, her mystical life partner starts heaving in his chest because the sound and smell is so awful.... Wouldn't feel so appropriate then would it.

    To get a clearer understanding of this homes owners and situation, check out the numerous stories/articles on this house available online. Lot's of negativity in many comments thinking these folks are 1 percent's. They are actually a school teacher and local government employees. "Movin' on Up" from a 600sq/ft house they lived in for 28 years. This is their only house, not a 2nd or vacation home. Looks like they wisely saved over the years and refined their vision to ultimately build a really nice house with low upkeep costs ($'s and physical) that satisfies their needs and values.

    It's okay to leave out all the people, muzak and dreamy, touchy feel good stuff out and let the property speak for itself.

    In MY opinion (that's all it is....) This home does many things well and shows the crossing of architecture from mere construction craft to ART. Colors, spaces, natural light, the wood stove, size, roof line, the deck, the trim, the interior height, the exposed beams......Winner. Perhaps this time the BEST man won in fact. Bravo to you Mr. architect extraordinaire . Bravo! And good on your for giving an assist to the buyer via your intro. She brought out the best in you.

    I have been looking at this home for quite awhile. I like the size, the openness, high windows and ceiling. They must have put quite a bit of money into the materials, more than I would do. An architect friend said you could build this for about $100k. I also would add a greenhouse on the side to expand the size a bit and provide more storage. Not crazy about colors but would probably pick out colors for living near the beach. I love it.

    I have loved
    this house for years.
    Simple and sublime,
    it looks with hope
    to a future time.
    When man puts
    aside his stuff,
    realizing he'll soon
    turn to dust,
    and lives with joy
    at a slower pace,
    and values time,
    and not
    cluttered space.

    This would be far more watchable if the people weren't so full of themselves. A nice house design is still just a little house, its not a cure for cancer. Take a step back and deflate your ego a bit.
    You can just imagine the homeowners farting into a wine glass, swirling it around, and inhaling it deeply with tremendous satisfaction.

      I would say ones home is a very important place - it's where we live, work, sleep - share our lives with family and friends, or just hide from the world when we need to. It's wonderful to see people having the opportunity to make their home as a reflection of their lifestyle rather than the overly built, pretentious, soulless McMansions we see built everywhere.

    I hate to be blunt but I too am a baby boomer and a former self proclaimed hippie, but I got over it! I do like the house. I don't like the music or the fish eye lens you use to make it seem larger. At this stage of my life, I really could care less about what anyone else thinks about me or my philosophies. You use this as your escape to a simple life every now and then when you leave the city in your $75,000 SUV. You need it to remind yourself that you really aren't like every other gazillionaire. You chose this home builder because he too had the same outlook on the cosmic order of things. When he leaves the drag of living in his $5,000,000 home and escapes to the study, he can dream what it would be like to be a regular person, one with nature, blah, blah, blah, but still filthy rich. It would be oh so wonderful to be able to have a play house. I knew when the architect spent a whole minute praising the owner that this was going to be about them and the video a lot more than the house. Oh, I suppose they could have gone to Home Depot and bought plans or even built it, but then they would've had to think, and work, and actually associate with everyday people. I wish George Carlin were still alive. Boy, could he have ever written a review.

    why does 800 sq ft have to be secondary? This country needs a serious paradigm shift in what is considered livable space. Safety is key, but opinionated mainstream ethos should not dictate en mas. Not allowing smaller dwellings on lots is literally unAmerican.

    • @johnmarkraddatz
      @johnmarkraddatz 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it does seem to go against lassiez faire and 800 squares is a mansion compared to the tiny homes on TH-cam.

    • @cmoore185
      @cmoore185 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree almost entirely. When I bought this house 35 years ago, The neighborhood was entirely different. Now there are ordinances that somewhat protect other homeowner's investments. I don't agree with size of homes, but I do think that there should be rules. I wouldn't particularly like it if someone built a new home and wanted to cut costs and put in an out house for instance, but a nice looking tiny home would be fine.

    • @cmoore185
      @cmoore185 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hadn't given this a second thought until I got the notice someone id'd my comment. I am 65 years old. My parents grew up in the depression. They were poor, but back then you were either rich or poor. They became hoarders. They weren't as bad as the people on the tv show, but they were extremely possession conscious. If you never get rid of things, you are obviously going to need a bigger home. That is probably the main reason people have big houses. They have way more "stuff" than they need. George Carlin did a routine about that. My mother is 92 and my stepfather died 4 years ago at 91. Mom is in an assisted living apartment, but she has a house that is literally packed with 50 years of not getting rid of anything. They were so afraid of being poor that I guess it gave them security. Maybe everyone is like that.

    We lived in an 800 sq. foot home. 2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, open kitchen dining area, small living room, stacked washer and dryer and hidden storage all over. Master closet was galley inspired with the other half a pantry for food ( our 8 by 8 garden produced a lot) , the upper half of linen closet was for AC/Heater, the lower half for linen (2 shelves and 2 roll baskets) , under bed storage in both bedrooms. Full bath was toilet, tub with shower and a sink, the half bath a toilet, sink and storage. Loved our house until it flooded. Still living there in 1700 sq. feet. Just ignoring the extra room.

    I bought a big old construction office trailer for $2,000, Hauled it over to my children's property. Happily turning it into a "Granny Cave" pretty much by myself. Solar panels, compost toilet, small refrig, propane hot plate and heater, two daybeds, arts / crafts room, vegie garden in 20 big pots. (my niece built a new roof for me & built sturdy shelves from one end to the other just below the ceiling,) I am a 72 yr old single woman. having a blast! Home Depot is my best friend! (I dye my hair)
