Hey Josh Thank you so much for your great video and for helping spreading the word about The Ranchers ❤ There was many questions asked here so I would do my best to answer them all :
1- Companion app Yes, we are releasing a companion App. It will let you continue your "trading" with other players throughout the A. Market even when you are not in front of your PC/console or playing the game at all 😉
2/ Business model The Ranchers is a premium game, it means you will buy the game for once and that's it. Our main goal from the beginning and current focus is to pack the game with a lot of content that will be available from day 1. And continue having a free season content update in each IRL season (that players will be able to unlock by playing the game, fulfilling quests...) so rest assured no microstransactions in the horizon.
3/ The Ranchres team Of course, like stated in our faqs channel on discord, all what you've watched in our trailer is all my fault 😀 I've been working with The Ranchers for 6 years already (more about my personal story in our steam page)
And I had the chance to have great talents joining the studio to help with developing The Ranchers and bring it to you guys as soon as possible ❤ Now we are 14 people working full time on the game to bring you the best farm Sim game ever made 😉 (its very serious for us 😀)
While this game looks incredibly nice (stardew + the sims? Yes please!) I feel like its a bit too ambitious. I don’t like the online auction idea just because it will absolutely be exploited, as well as the ‘companion app’ is just..eegh, to me. Think I’ll save my money on this one, but keep an eye on it! It could be something amazing, or it could flop.
The online auction will definitely be exploited! 😆 I feel like it's such a challenge to keep these kind of systems well-balanced and fair, I won't judge until I play it for myself but I'm skeptical.
I am interested in this game but only as a single-player, I have no interest in online play. I deal with "people" in my job and I play these games to destress at the end of the day. Also. an online market will be exploited heavily. I guess we will see. Thanks for the video, Josh.
Definitely excited about this but there are a lot of unanswered questions that I guess we will learn about as we get closer to release (EA or full game release). But I definitelt support paying for the game once and then they can add DLC. I don't want this one to turn to us paying money left and right
As someone who has developed games myself I'm a bit scared that this game will fall into the trap of wanting to do everything, but end up doing none of them well or at all. At least in my experience, going too ambitious on the scope of the game is the number one reason a game doesn't get shipped. But hopefully I'm wrong :)
this game sounds too incredible. i think its finally one if not THE only game ive seen with such a different spin in farming type of games. lovewhat they mashed together! hope it gets realized
They lost me at the mention of it being a service based game. Definitely not a fan of that direction; however, I’ll stay cautiously optimistic all of these ambitious concepts come together well. Thanks for giving us the rundown Josh!
It's definitely VERY ambitious and there is something off-putting about the game to me. I don't know if it's the realistic art style mixed with fantastical dragons or what. But I'm not looking forward to this one.
I also find a few things off with the artstyle. It lacks some consistency, for example the animals are super realistic (and quite textured), but everything else is super smooth and cartoony. Maybe some assets are placeholders, let's see but that's one thing that makes me a bit skeptical.
@@JoshGamingGarden I'm assuming they are bought assets but yeah, bought assets can make an art style inconsistent. I'm also not interested in a good chunk of the features so even if it had great aesthetics, I still wouldn't be interested.
There are a couple of issues I see here. For start the models look too much like toys to me, like those cheap plastic farm animals you can buy in any toyshop, it feels a bit uncanny at times. And the dungeons section crash too much with the rest of the game, it feels at one point you are in a normal town and the next you are in World of Warcraft. There is no a smooth transition between the two, unlike Stardew Valley where the art style and the quirkiness blends well there, or Rune Factory stating as a fantasy world from the get go.
I was on board until the combat and mines section. I see completely different graphics in the mines and feels like a last minute throw in just cause other games had this.
Definitely a "wait and see" for me. Got burnt a bit too many times on similar games that tried to bite off more than they could chew. Also, does anyone else feel like this seems like a cashgrab mobile game? It's just the vibe I'm getting, but maybe it'll be fun - who knows?
The art and camera angles definitely scream "cheap mobile game" I'm getting tired of this style, I'm already sad that Coral Island has something similar going on. Just doesn't have any charm or personality in the art.
idk about this one lads. it looks like it would be very fun if it was actually fully realized, but it is VERY ambitious, and the art is… inconsistent at best. the hyper-detailed horses and the cartoony people just don’t belong in the same world to me. i did absolutely lose it when the video cut to someone on a horse with a whole gun, though, like this game really said tired of swords? do we have a deal for you! i’ll keep an eyeball on it, but don’t think i’ll be throwing my dollars at this one. great video as always, josh 👍🏼
I'll admit I feel really skeptical, the graphics kind of make me think of coral island, but that one seems to have a much bigger team? And I thought that one was ambitious but this one has like twice as much content it wants to do. If they can pull it off it'd be amazing! But it feels like the scope is so big we wouldn't see the game for years and years 😅
I'll have to see the details of it when it comes to kickstarter. If it follows the model of an mmo or phone game or with lots of extra grinding due to it being multiplayer, then I will be avoiding it. I do like some of what I see so I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens
I am not too optimistic about it because I think there are too much promises in this game. Also, we don't really know how many developers, designers, and so on are working there. If they do micro transaction will kill the fun. The game economy based on the player has to be solid cause it can get unbalanced pretty quickly if someone knows how to exploit.
I dunnnnnnno. It looks good but like some others mentioned, the animals look like place holders (too nice and realistic looking in comparison to the rest of the graphics) and I just feel like this is too ambitious for such a small team. I rarely back projects on kickstarter as I never want to throw money away and unless I will see some real info/gameplay, I won't be buying into this. Something about this entire thing is very strange to me. I can't quite place it... Be careful with this one guys
service based game is a bit of a red flag with how the AAA companies have used that as a way to butcher and sell you the game piecemeal hopefully they dont go that way
There is some gameplay inconsistency going on. Why would you even need a Player Market in the first place? Did you forget to balance properly? It seems like this is one of those smashed together Projects doing everything and nothing properly with a billion unconnected systems thrown together. You can also see that clearly when you go hunting with a rifle, fight flying monster bees with a sword an use an AR on a demon. Who told you not to use your AR on wildlife? That part seriously needs work as it doesn't fit the whole theme at all and was most likely added later on.
Just gonna channel some StrongBad here... "This game is like, really real. It even has a "com-PAG-non app." Random French is always cool. Also, DELETED!" Hope it's real-probably not though. I'm not sure why they'd think service-based is a plus; it almost seems like an algorithm made this.
I wanted to pointed out the French (and some other typos) but decided to give them some slack as I don't want another video deleted. 😆I'd love to be pleasantly surprised with this game.
@@JoshGamingGarden Don't worry, bro. You were overly respectful while also cautious in this video. I think most of us get the idea that it probably isn't real, but we can still hope.
Nice video, it does look like a major undertaking. But we will have to see and more information comes out about it. I did notice that at 13:04 it does say in the video "We are a group of creatives with a common passion. Which would lead me to believe its more than one person.
I rather pay once with option to get DLC. I don't like micro transactions in general from my experience with auction houses on MMos there can be listing fee about 20% or varies and players charge alot. I generally don't know how to make good profit in any game this why I watch your videos for guides. I have seen the trailer and looks very ambitious with all these features and ideas. The developers will probably make changes during production. The Kickstarter is not even available yet but curious to see what different milestones are.
Hey Josh, adding to the above, can you imagine if there were rival romances like in some of old games, if you seen one of your rivals taking one of the romanceable characters that you were also interested in on a date in the hot air balloon and you could shoot it down after all and end their date prematurely, how awesome that would actually be? Has there been any game where you can interfere and/or sabotage your rivals dates/romances or something like this anyway? Now that would be one more thing that would definitely set this game apart from all others if it was possible.
I'm intrigued, a sims/SV mashup definitely has my interest and then add in the GTA style of things as well and it sounds like it could be a great game. My biggest reservation with these types of games if the farm itself, none of them are big enough for my liking and its disappointing. I want a big big farm to spend my days farming, not spending a tiny bit farming and the rest socializing.
I'm erring on the side of skepticism while watching this to be honest. If they pull it off, I'll be pleasantly surprised, but it does seem incredibly ambitious for an indie game. While watching it, a thought occured to me. It's definitely missing the quiantness of regular farming sims and is much more modernized than we're used to seeing and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that. I enjoy the small town vibes and being able to just walk everywhere from my farm to the town. If this is their only title, how do they plan on making money while releasing free content? For example, Cozy Grove comes from a studio that has mobile games, so they're still making revenue while providing more content on Cozy Grove.
Man idk- the graphics throw me off but I can ignore that. The game just seems way too big, way too much going on and I doubt they will have enough funding or capability to pull it off. If they do pull it off- it’ll be a huge hit and a great spin on the genre though.
Very good and fair coverage. It's easy to get very excited because of all the things that they promise, however it's also very easy to see how the developer might be in over their head. There have been so many Kickstarter games that I've backed that have been stuck in Early Access hell, or unfortunately just never came out at all.
I started the video interested, but got less so as it went on. The idea of subscriptions or online auctions is a big turn off for me. As is the weird combat that doesn't seem to fit with the game in any way. Building your own home is nice, but like you said, is there a point to it? This seems like they just played video game mad libs and just threw together a trailer for it.
Do you have any new information about The Ranchers? It's been about 3 or 4 months since they announced that they would be having a kickstarter campaign and there hasn't been any information since then. They haven't announced when their kickstarter campaign will be and they won't answer any questions on their Twitter page.
This game will be amazing!!!! But yeah... If it's just one person to do everything we can expect the release date to 2027 or farther 😅 I really hope it's a team of developers and that's a trustable project!!! 'cause it's veeeeery good!!
Honestly this game sounds great, if they're able to actually do everything they said. Like why wouldn't you want a diverse game if it's possible? I probably am the odd one out but I like the fantasy aspect to it as well even if it is a bit out of place, it makes it different and interesting. I find a lot of the farming sims now a days are becoming copies of each other. I play sims regularly and I of course love farming sims and I've played gta 5 lots so this appeals to me. I would not be a fan of micro transactions though and probably wouldn't play it if it had that type of thing but if it had fair dlc then that would be okay, sort of like the sims. Although please learn from the recent sims game and actually make your dlc fleshed out and worth it if you're going to go that route. But yeah overall it looks good, although I don't hold my breath for any game anymore and will have to keep an eye on it as it gets developed.
The more features got revealed the more I got NMS back flashes, I pretty much got whiplash when it got to the combat system and dungeons, it seems so out of place with the rest of the game
This is a farming game I've always wanted tbh. This is like John Deere farm games meet traditional farming sims. If my laptop/computer wasn't a POS, this 1000% would be on my list.
I think there is TOO much to do. It kinda reminds me of rune factory where there was so much to do and no energy to do it, you had to choose between combat, animals or farming but you had to do it all to progress the story. With the lack of focus I think it’s going to be too confusing for players and can get frustrating.
Friendly reminder: Service based "games" arent games. Service model products are not meant to be consumed, they are meant to consume you. IF the monetization scheme is fair and respects players time/money, fine it might be fun. Dont kid yourself, all it takes is the developer to reach their profitability margin they've set and then they pull the plug. Game Over, no pun intended.
Hmmmm... if it works it's gonna be awesome... But I think we all know what games that try to be everything usually turn out like. I feel like this is what many new developers do. They are too afraid to cut things out and just keep adding every awesome idea they get. Do we need an app for this??? Really? I am skeptical lol
I feel like they need some cultural or design element to bridge the gap between the farm sim and the exploration/dungeon themes. It seems a bit jarring that Farmer Bob is just going to up and go off and risk getting himself killed in a cave with a dragon on it. Farmers are pretty busy people with a lot to lose.
The only problem with Kickstarter is that they're moving their whole platform to block chain. If they really want funding, I suggest they move to indigogo.
No hate, I really do love these types of games!! But promising an exhaustive list of content that isn't even released as Early Access yet makes me nervous because I'm really tired of dev teams releasing smalls pieces of a game over really long periods of time, and then ultimately stopping or giving up or whatever else. As a rule I don't really invest in Early Access (AKA unfinished) games if they're trying to squeeze in way too much all at once.
Looks absolutely great unfortunately I'm passing on this one, I'm not a fan of the GaaS model and to top it off they're going to kickstarter for funding, I think that's disingenuous.
Something just feels very off-putting about this game. The graphics in particular seem a bit too... cardboard? It feels like a bunch of 'life sim' games I've seen that just use assets from the unity store, the lighting especially strikes that cord. The amount of content they promise too, it all just seems way too good to be true. Could very well end up being a real and actually good game, but it's always best to stay cautiously optimistic about any indie game that promises a bunch of big mechanics like this, and especially if it's on Kickstarter, and doubly so if it advertises itself as an MMORPG. If you feel like donating to the game, donate a reasonable amount and never donate too much. If it does end up being another Kickstarter MMORPG scam, at the very least you didn't shell out 500 dollars in donations.
I was skeptical after the half of the video, but after you saying it's all make by one person I'm almost sure it'll not have all that. It's just way too much
Only 30 cooking recipes? I take it there won't be a robust crafting system. A lot of the resources used looks like bought packages so maybe that's how one person can do it 🤔 Also, am I the only one who thinks the only character they have shown off looks like a hooker? Perhaps that's too strong but I don't think you'll get a good story line with realistic characters in this one. The character controller needs work as well- she has some seriously floppy arms. With the numbers they provide for the different activities I don't think any of the activities will be fully fleshed out. I.e. there doesn't seem to be a real focus on any one area of game play. I'm afraid this one looks all gimmick and no substance. As the Kickstarter campaign has yet to start, perhaps they'll have a chance to fix some things so that the scope is smaller with a definite focus instead of looking all over the place like it does now. Sometimes "ambitious" is a kind word for "hot mess". I don't want to be negative at 9am but this one sends up red flags.
copywrite 2023.... quick, buy up the name/concept, and copywrite it yourself a year early. There's no way they're going to follow through on ALL of that.
I lost interest at the mention of being a live service game. This is an ambitious project that I'll keep an eye on in case this business model changes.
Im sorry but did you say that the name of the studios is RED PILL studios? Red pill as in the reddit subreddit dedicated to hating women and everything about women?
@@Toxickys Umm what? well I guess with a name like Toxic you kind of fit the bill, and sadly no im not a SJW either. But red pill is basicly a bunch of gym jocks that hate women but find it to unmanly to admit they are gay for each other so they take their aggression out on everyone. Im a gamer and a male dude, SJWs think all men and gamers are rapist.
Really didn't like the graphics, they look horrible. And if the game base on subscription I would never bother - hate this kind of stuff instead of buying the game once.
Hey Josh
Thank you so much for your great video and for helping spreading the word about The Ranchers ❤
There was many questions asked here so I would do my best to answer them all :
1- Companion app
Yes, we are releasing a companion App. It will let you continue your "trading" with other players throughout the A. Market even when you are not in front of your PC/console or playing the game at all 😉
The A. Market is also accessible in the game so using the companion app is not mandatory at all.

I cant wait for this game
Now I expect to go in the town and burn’s blow every each building…🥳
SoS trio of towns has many different fertilizers. They all do different stuff
As with any ambitious game, best to judge it when it SHIPS.
I recently subscribed after watching some of your content. I really enjoy and appreciate it very much. I am also into these types of games. 👍
This game looks really good!
This game looks a bit too ambitious. I'm not seeing anything that screams "Scam", but I'm seeing a lot that seems too big for a Kickstarter campaign.
weird.
i Saw a comment like this.
in a video a few years ago talking about the upcoming game (ancient city).
I wish there will be character portrait while interacting with them. So it wont look like taking to zombies, lifeless and bland you get me?
Woah, it looks very promising 🤩
The only problem with Kickstarter is that they're moving their whole platform to block chain. If they really want funding, I suggest they move to indigogo.
I find it interesting so far cmand cant wait to learn more about it
Auction house, selling items to players, Service based...... (removes game from Steam wishlist)
No one else is put off by the name of the studio? Red pill? Lmao
Good catch.
I’ll stick with farm together
Wondering if going to be on switch or play over multiple systems
They are planning it for consoles as well, including Switch!
Does say on his steam listing a small team so not sure how many
Looks absolutely great unfortunately I'm passing on this one, I'm not a fan of the GaaS model and to top it off they're going to kickstarter for funding, I think that's disingenuous.
Any mobile games? I know about Sunshine Days.
can i transport horse on bicycle?
hopefully will be online at all times. Otherwise the user-market will be corrupted and a no go for me. Online all the time or nothing devs!
When’s the campaign coming please? Any idea?
If the kickstarter hasn't even begun yet, probably not for a year at least.
@@piperbird7193 I mean the Kickstarter
Soon, but they haven't announced a date yet. Typically developers will wait until they have a big enough following, and then they start the campaign.
Hi we are aiming for Q1 2022. You will have the opportunity to back for immediate Alpha Access.
Josh try Immortal Life the Chinese inspired game
I tried it! I should have a video up about it in the next few days :)
I was skeptical after the half of the video, but after you saying it's all make by one person I'm almost sure it'll not have all that. It's just way too much
Only 30 cooking recipes? I take it there won't be a robust crafting system.
A lot of the resources used looks like bought packages so maybe that's how one person can do it 🤔
Also, am I the only one who thinks the only character they have shown off looks like a hooker?
Hype!
copywrite 2023.... quick, buy up the name/concept, and copywrite it yourself a year early.
There's no way they're going to follow through on ALL of that.
Right, isn't it odd that the copyright on their website is 2023? 😆Not sure if this is a typo but it doesn't make sense.
@@JoshGamingGarden Makes perfect sense. It's very easy to make a trailer to show whatever you want. It's a scam.
id bet that this game will be just like all the others on kickstarter
Lol, this "fantasy dungeons aspect" do not fit this game much....
I lost interest at the mention of being a live service game. This is an ambitious project that I'll keep an eye on in case this business model changes.
Another game that we cannot buy yet... :(
Im sorry but did you say that the name of the studios is RED PILL studios? Red pill as in the reddit subreddit dedicated to hating women and everything about women?
Could also just be a reference to The Matrix 🤷🏻♀️
You read too much sjw stuff bro.
Hell no...when you said it's a paid service, I'm immediately like: No, thank you.
Really didn't like the graphics, they look horrible. And if the game base on subscription I would never bother - hate this kind of stuff instead of buying the game once.
Its a One-Time Payment! :)
@@yanniktheranchers7365 subscription mean you pay every month. EA can still do it that way
harvest moon, not stardew ;O
looks as awful as fortnite so no thank you
Oh? Multiplayer?! Hopefully you can just join anyones game and it’s not like stardew…
Online RPG HAHAHA
I just don't like character design of this game
Yeah I don't buy this.
