be me a snowy winter day. with about 1 1/2 feet of snow on the ground, walking down to the supermarket to get snacks for you and your family durring the massive snow storm. you decide to pop in some earbuds and listen to some dawes on spotify. you click play and this song starts playing. then you drift off into your own world as you continue to hike through the storm. then you remember how awesome dawes really is. :)
This one's a stunner - my favorite on the new album. Thoroughly delicious drumming! The piano! The sax! The sweetest of dynamic subtleties. And such a tender love sentiment at the end of all that literary lyricism. Only Dawes could deliver this.
The piano and saxophone are excellent... a little unexpected when hearing Dawes... I love the jazz twist on the Dawes sound. They never disappoint, never do things the same way from one album to another, but it always seems to work!
Great song. Wonderful lyrics. Echoes of Jackson Browne. How refreshing it is to hear music and lyrics with beauty and substance as opposed to so much of the mindless disposable crap around these days.
This is Dawes at their musical finest. Pure lyrics, a lulling track, and adept istrumentation that weaves in and out, refusing to step on each others feet. A dance, a conversation, a confession, a lovers tender embrace, and a man coming to terms with his given path because it led to his best possible end. Truly beautiful.
Ah! New Dawes appears while I'm up to feed my 8 month old little boy Leo a bottle. Life is good and I like this track. Now it looks like we are gonna stay up and listen to more.
Some songs by Dawes take a few listens to hit me properly, don't know if it's the strange time signatures on some of the tracks that takes some adjusting to, or what it is. But the ones that I don't immediately love, become my absolute favourites. Like this one, or Don't Send Me Away. Taylor's writing is unbelievable, and so easy to identify with. The layered, building instrumentation (usually improvised in studio) is always beautiful, and so engrossing. Thank you guys as always. Im disgusted that this video has 15 comments, 107 likes and nearly 7000 views. You deserve so much more, but in a way, Im proud and selfish to be your fan. You really hit my heart in the perfect way. Thank you. I can honestly say I thoroughly love every single song you have produced.
jackson browne is pouring out of this writer!

The drums are so subtle, but so beautiful in this song.
His voice is so soothing and reminiscing. Love them!

Nice! Thanks for the suggestion. Great group too. Reminiscent of the Yellowjackets in some cool way.
