Hughie is deliberately chosen to keep the average loser engaged in the show! It is a marketing strategy to create a protagonist catered towards the lowest common denominator! A guy like hughie in real life wouldn’t stand a chance with a girl like star light! Just go look at those cast and you’ll find who are they dating in real life!
