I think it is because Kissin is from Russia, and he very well understands what this piece is. Islamey imitates a folk dance from the Caucasian region. If you have ever heard some of them(like the notoriously crazy lezginka) you will know that they are often executed with extremely fast ostinatos, and without much rhythm breaking, and that's what Kissin does with the introductory passage here, unlike let's say Pogorelich, who interprets Islamey less folkishly, but rather romantically
I swear to God if there existed an AI that made score music sound listenable, but properly, it would sound like Evgeny Kissin. There's not that much customization or even real emotion but he's the must for everyone in music school for learning phrasing and dynamics
And in some of his interpretations (Rachmaninoff Concerto #2!) - I could swear, the spacing between notes and phrasing continuity... is like channeled straight from God. :P Such passion and love.. being one 🎹 who shares healing work through the Piano, I can deeply see and appreciate this.
Phenomenal. So clean and organized, without the grotesqueries that some other pianists add to their "interpretations." But it's not clinical. The big Romantic theme is gorgeous. Kissin is a wonder.
I love these Kissin videos; keep it up! Could you record the entirety of his Rach 3 performance later in December? I desperately need to hear it. It's such a shame it wasn't recorded by Radio France because of his arm injury.
@@sacrilegiousboi978 there's an update on the london symphony orchestra website, it says he wasn't able to prepare for it because of the injury so he's play mozart concerto instead
@@ErkaaJ Horowitz could barely play it?? Sorry but wtf?? Maybe you could do better than Horowitz. His performances of this were electrifying (have you ever actually listened to his live recordings of the piece?)
Thanks for uploading recordings/performances of Kissin that aren't available on Spotify or elsewhere. You're the man!
Thanks man, love finding and sharing these hidden Kissin gems!
@@sacrilegiousboi978 I get excited whenever I see you upload one of them, lol. So glad he's doing well again, so he can bless us with more!
Wow 😮
He is an amazing pianist in any time, place, or legacy. Bravisimo!
I love it ! (The Netherlands) 💙👍🌷🌷🌷
Didnt think this could be played so crispy

Uno dei migliori! Bravissimo Evgeny...

Technically amazing.
i wish there was footage of him playing this
Yeah, especially with his pre-2010 Afro flying around
@@sacrilegiousboi978 absolutely lmao
Ooooh! 😯😲😱
Genius!
Where did you get this recording from?
I actually can’t remember now, I had the mp3 saved to my computer
@@sacrilegiousboi978 looks like kissin is playing rach 3 next year, he updated his website
@@GTXTi-db5xu oh yeah, it seems like he switched his scheduled Scriabin and Rimsky-Korsakov concerto performances

If it’s being broadcasted I will do my best!
@@sacrilegiousboi978 fuck bro, is kissin still going to play rach 3? why did it all change to mozart piano concerto on his website?

This music is what we call EPIC ABOMINATION
His interpretation sounds like someone slowly going completely insane xD
Reminds me of Wozzek by A. Berg😂
Why doesn’t he play like this anymore?
In what way do you mean?
@@sacrilegiousboi978 Now he is safe.
@@HermanIngram he’s maybe mellowed out a little bit? possibly because he’s now in his 50s and no longer a young virtuoso
@@sacrilegiousboi978 Horowitz was at his peak when he was 50.
@@HermanIngram I meant in terms of his musical choices. His technique is still flawless
It's an excellent playing but it sounds a bit cool to me, even in spite of all the flash. Horowitz in 1950 was phenomenal, titanic
Horowitz could barely play it, the Berezovsky recording is way more entertaining

Too mechanical. Typical Kissin playing as usual.
