Thank you for taking us through the steps in careful detail. Looks great. But I am worried about you climbing that rickety old wooden ladder. Take care and thanks again.
Great video! Did you use pressure treated lumber for the box you built? And also, do you think that window will be ok in a bathroom? I'm currently remodeling my shower and I want to install a small window that happens to have cinder block. I've seen a few videos but yours is by far the best one I've seen.
Yes, we used pressure treated wood. That window is only a utility window that won’t provide insulation if you live in a location with extreme temperatures.
Would it not have been a much more water/weatherproof installation if a boatload of caulk had been placed on all of the window flanges or on the face of the frame opening prior to nailing the window into place?
Trying to avoid the high cost and long wait for custom windows. We ordered a custom window for the upstairs and the small (average quality) window cost $500 and took 6 months to arrive.
Really awesome video-- just wanted a video to get a feel for what I'd be up against installing a small window in masonry. This hit the spot.

His wife thanks you!

Shouldn’t The 2x4 at the base be Pressure treated ??
That’s a good idea!
Why a flanged window for a block wall?

Dude got the crappiest ladder I’ve seen
You are so right! #firstworldproblems #left thegoodladderathome
All the lumber should have been Pressure treated.......
no permit. naughty. 😂
Buy a bigger window
The point was to avoid buying a custom window since they are very expensive and take months to be made. The house is in a lower rent district.
