    Amazing! Delicious! Thank you so much for this recipe… my mom sent it to me, but I thought I would come on here and say it myself. To everyone out there worried whether this will be worth it or not, I’m telling you, follow the instructions and recipe and you will see that these cookies are easy to make and so delicious to eat! 😍🔥 I made it from start to finish with my three daughters ages 7, 9, 10.

    I followed this tutorial and recipe this past weekend when I made cookies and they were fantastic! I received a lot of compliments and had to show people your video because the parchment paper and the rolling guide were absolutely genius! I always have a habit of rolling out my dough too thin or over flouring and this completely solves that issue. They were perfect! Thank you! This is my go-to cut out cookie recipe now.

    Made these last weekend and they were perfect! Disappeared like nobody’s business at the party. Tried so many cut out recipes that have been disasters, (either bland, don’t hold their shape, or both) so thanks to the other commenters for convincing me to give this one a go. Followed the recipe to a T via WEIGHT on the printable recipe. Delicious and texture is great. Don’t wait till they brown if you want them soft. Take them out right when you see the bottom begin to brown if you want them just a bit harder. Wait till the edges start to brown if you want them to have a crunch. Added just a half TB of almond extract, as directed by the recipe. It holds a shape flawlessly. Thanks for the tip on the painters stick (they gave me some for free at Walmart) It saved me from having to buy a 20$ rolling pin with the little guides at the ends.

    I have made this recipe twice. The first time I wrapped the cookie dough and put it in the fridge. My fridge must be colder than most because it came out rock hard and I had to let it warm up again before I could roll it out. The second time I made this recipe, I rolled the fresh dough between two sheets of parchment and transferred it, parchment and all, to a cookie sheet. I continued and ended up with four layers of rolled cookie dough. After chilling in the fridge, on the cookie sheet, for a few hours these sheets of cookie dough were easy to cut with cookie cutters and the cookies turned out great. I let the scraps warm up enough to roll them between parchment and chilled these sheets in the fridge on a cookie sheet. I continued until all the dough was used up. By using the parchment paper, there is no need to add additional flour to roll the dough. If too much extra flour is added, the cookies can be pretty tough. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.

      @@triciabarton1515 Hi Tricia; I am sorry for not replying until now. I did not get a notification from TH-cam until Samantha replied.
      I use a large sheet on top and bottom with about a quarter of the recipe in between them. Since I am short, I roll them on a kitchen table which is lower than the kitchen counter and gives me more leverage. I hope this is helpful. If the parchment slips too much, you can slightly dampen your working surface with a wet dishcloth. That should keep it in place long enough to get the dough rolled out.

    I wanted these to get brown edges but it wasn't happening and I didn't want to over bake, but results are very nice. I had long metal 4 sided skewers that were perfect to roll on. I refrigerated the dough overnight then split it into 4 pieces and rolled it out between sheets of parchment and refrigerated again before cutting. I was as pleased with the results this time as last. I used only almond extract this time and they are tasty. I'm thinking of using almond and vanilla to flavor the icing.

    THIS NEEDS TO BE YOUR ONE AND ONLY SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE! I'm 26, a food critic and new to baking and I pulled this off to taste like the butter cookies in the can! These are perfection. I didn't mix the sugar and the butter because I didn't follow directions. I mixed it with the flour to be a step ahead of my baking the next day...With this recipe you can put the dry ingredients in mason jars that way it will be handy. This dough must be chilled for at lest 4 hours and than cut the dough in half and put the other half in the fridge while you cut out one half at a time. If dough is not chilled it causes the cookies to spread.

    I just made a double batch of sugar cookie dough! I cannot wait to roll it out tomorrow. I have used your recipe since you first published it and it's always perfect! My daughter bought a lobster cookie cutter from Maine and the cookies always turned out as one big blob until I switched to your recipe ( I should mention that I use no leavening agent as suggested in one of your other videos). Thanks, Haniela!

    Haniela! You are my guru! Thank you so much for sharing so much knowledge and creativity! I just finished baking my first batch of this sugar cookie dough. I was able to make 15, 3 inch hearts out of one batch, which I think is a great amount for large cookies. I was thrown off when my cookie dough was hard a rock right out of the fridge, but I just worked with 1/3 at a time and it all worked out perfectly! I can't wait to try to ice these with your lemon royal icing tomorrow or the next day! Thank you again for all your guidance!

      @Hanielas  9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Diana Bueno Thank you. Yes dough can get rock hard, and it is actually a good sign. What I often do, I cut it in half and I put in the microwave for maybe like 5 second or so, just so I can roll it out and it is not rock hard. I messaged you on Patreon with the link to mermaid, are you making them? Hope you'll share the picture. hanielas@yahoo.com, or tag me on instagram. You invented a new use for the Yard Stick! Whohoo.

    I chilled my dough but its really hard when I pull it out of the fridge. It doesnt roll out all soft like in the video...am I supposed to knead it first?

    • @Hanielas
      @Hanielas  8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It's no problem, it is actually suppose to be hard as a rock at first. You can quarter the dough and put one piece in the microwave for 5 seconds or so, just until it is a bit softer so you can roll it out and then keep adding chilled dough as you go. Dough shouldn't be too soft when you are cutting out cookie but at the same time you should be able to roll it out without too much trouble. Or you can just let it soften up a little at room temperature.

    • @SarahGraceCookieCo
      @SarahGraceCookieCo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Gabrielle, one of my favorite hacks is rolling room temperature dough as soon as it comes out of the mixer then freezing it in rolled sheets on a baking tray in the freezer before cutting cookies. I’m a lazy baker, so it saves my arms a bit 😂

    Hi Haniela, You mentioned in your Abbey Road cookie tutorial that you like almond flavoring in your cookies. How much extract do you add to your recipe above to make almond cookies and do you still add the vanilla extract? Thanks.

    • @Hanielas
      @Hanielas  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Rebecca I usually add 1tsp vanilla and 1tsp almond, if you like strong almond flavor, skip the vanilla all together and you can use 2tsp almond extract. good luck. Thank you.

      The recipe above says 1 TBL vanilla! So are you saying when making it with almond flavor you only use 2 tsp extract and not 1 TBL?

    • @emily.g.929
      @emily.g.929 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Savannah B One tablespoon is 3 teaspoons. Almond extract is REALLY strong, so she probably uses 2 teaspoonfuls of almond if making almond, and the tablespoon for only vanilla flavor.

    Wow. I tried this recipe and your chocolate one. They came out perfect! I have tried so many sugar cookie recipes and they all were bland like cardboard or fell short. But these are it! Soft. Just the right level of sweet. And can be decorated. I hesitated to add the combination of lemon almond and vanilla extract but I went for it. And man! So glad I did. I highly recommend everyone tries it. Gives the cookie such a depth of flavors. Thank you so much for sharing. Subscribed.

    can i possibly use regular table salt?

    • @majaglitter
      @majaglitter 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When baking it is highly recommended to use fine salt because regular table salt is chunky and won't get incorporated properly and sometimes will stay whole. I tried using table salt once but my cookie once had a gritty and salty feeling.
