Love the second look and I agree. It definately makes you look younger.

The imperfect hair look is absolutely perfect and much more youthful. You're lucky to have nice thickness and quality. My own hair is baby fine and is often more trouble than it's worth.

I just found you today. I like both hairstyles, but the second is my favorite!

Yes! I’m 73 and my hair is down to the middle of my back! I have a bit of a natural wave so I can leave it alone. But I’m blessed that my 16 year old granddaughter lives with me and will braid it for nice waves! I also reinvested in hot rollers for a more “done” look. There is also the ever loving pony tail. I’m still trying to master the messy bun. Not as easy as you’d think! It’s the first time in my life I’ve had long hair and I love it!

I have always had my hair ""in place""...now I am more relaxed with my styles...and I think it does show in my outlook on life too. Great video - thank you!!!

Your hair looks nice both ways, so you can mix it up.

So very true! And because my H is 10 years older he can't bear to see a strand out of a bun! It's like the matching pocketbook and shoes!

That is so funny! I guess I’m not used to men being that way. I’m 54, my hubby’s 4 years younger, and he doesn’t care about that. But he does care about my hands and feet (mani pedi) 😅

I like the first hairstyle on you. I know that you had limitations on styling the second style on camera, because you might not have been in front of a mirror. It's the cut. If you wanted a carefree style, you'd have to get some mousse or some gel (preferably the sea salt styling one that gives that "beach look"). I am growing into that look right now from growing out my pixie to a long pixie to....whatever is next. My aim is to grow it out longer. One thing you haven't touched on is the texture of the hair. Many women, upon going silver, grey, etc. will find out that they have lost some of their denseness. I had a lioness mane when I was younger, and upon going grey, (I am 60) found out that I have PCOS hair. It's not that I am going bald, but I DID lose a lot of hair last Autumn. Hair was everywhere, even my husband told me about how my hair was clogging up the bathroom drain. I had to up my hormones and am on (again) Progesterone and Estrogen creams, plus a DMT blocker cream in after drying off hair but before the styling products are applied. My hair is still short enough to air dry. What has floored me, is now I have wavy hair! I had bone straight hair before and my hair has ringlets and loose curls. I never knew that this could happen. Maybe it came into that when my hair fell out, and grew back in wavy. I know my hairdresser gave me a trim and told me about a cowlick in the back of my head, and I never had one there. I've alway had one at the top of my head near my forehead, where my bangs grow out and it's always been there. It's like my hair has regrown itself into something new, and that might be due to changing hormones with menopause. (I am into the change since I was 48.) Just wanted to let you know, there are changes to hair beyond style, the length, width and cut affect a youthful demeanor. Not just color. Also, talk about color and silver hair, with makeup. There are colors that I would never have worn on my lips that I find I can now wear, hot pinks, raspberry, watermelons, reds (true red, not too blue nor too orange.). I feel that going too "Nude" is like being washed out. When you are silver, you have to bring "some" color to the front but can do it not looking like an aging "Madam" if you catch my drift.

Susan, I thought your first "do" was so pretty, showing off your pretty ears, jewelry and face! I'm slightly older than you and I believe fully in what you say, loosen the hair up a bit and try not to look too controlled. My thumbnail is about a year old but you may be able to see that I don't believe that women need to keep their hair short after 50 either.

Maybe a good haircut and style would help considerably! Or, are you trying to grow out an old style?

I don't get it...Didn't you experience the wild, psychedelic 60s and 70s? Having gone to college at Berkeley during those years, the idea of "controlling" is the essence of everything my friends and I rebelled against! Perhaps it depends on where you live, what your political and cultural values are, etc.
