  • the legendary JBL 4425 is today so popular that people want to pay between 1000 and 2500$ (depending on condition) easy. In Japan this brand is already immense popular for many years but today I see that because of increased prosperity also many in China and Korea are buying these speakers. Reason for me to make this movie and see how youtube down loaders from different country's show their proud possession. I never had these speakers, also never heard them but i am sure these speakers are not so popular and expensive by accident.

    Hi, I know this isn't your typical stereo question but I can't seem to find an answer. Could you please help me. I have a Pioneer SX-434 receiver driving four speakers, a pair of Synergistics S-12B 8ohms, min power 6w and a pair of Boston Acoustics A-40 8ohms, min power 5w. Am I correct that combined they present a 4ohm load to the amp?? Do they also present a total min power of 11w?? I know the Pioneer is only 15wpc. Is this a safe load for the SX-434 receiver?? Just curious..

      as long you don't play them very loud and stay under 50% of the total volume I don't think it can be harmful. When you need to play louder I would play only on 1 pair.

      Thankyou for your thoughts. I don't raise the volume higher than the 10 o'clock positon and no loudness or bass boost as that would require more power. You have been very helpful.

    Don't waste time with 4425 - jump right to the adult size: 4430. They are awesome. Well worth the dough IMO. Most of the good Jbl gear and decent tube gear is in Asia.... unfortunately. Grab it while you can boys & girls.

      the best jbl's i heard was the xpl 200 and the ti 5000

      +vintage stereo can't argue with those two. I've heard the xpl200's a lot as a bud owns a pair but I've never heard the 5000's. I'm sure I wouldn't sell them too quick if I got my hands on them. I've been hunting for a pair of xpl's for myself with no luck and I don't think I've ever seen a pair of Ti 5000's for sale yet. Gotta search more I suppose.

      at the moment i am growing with 250 new subscribers every month, I can reach the 10.000 in 1,5 year if i keep on posting my video's in the way I am doing now but lately I posted many video's, not sure if I can keep that up for 18 more months in a row. I still have to buy all that stuff before I can review it and that's the hard part of it because also in the Netherlands people are waking up and prices are rising. I also can't buy what I already reviewed, so the more video's I have the less I see things on the market I never had before. At a certain moment there comes a time I see only stuff I already reviewed.

    It becomes so expensive. The issue is that in eastern culture, Social status is determined by the stuff you have, and even how you buy it. And they KEEP BUYING IT, A MARANTZ 2500 for $5,000, A STEREO RECEIVER. The good thing is that they will only buy famous brands so your Cantons and your Dynaco’s(Seas) will be safe. The more this stuff keeps happening the more you keep trying to find obscure stuff. Like OHM speakers and quicksilver Amplifiers.

      I had the jbl l100 and I didn't like the sound because it miss something in the treble. But I thought it was only me who was not happy with the speakers. So when i sold the speakers i was surprised this guy loved this sound so much. He was acting like a little baby, so happy he was because I sold them lower as the market value and they where in pretty good shape. Also the low end is disappointing for such big woofers. I even liked my simple cheap technics sb-4500 more then the jbl l100. Those one sounded much smoother but on the second hand market their value is very low, only 50 euro vs 400/500 euro.....

      why people pay so much for them? is it nostalgic? ore just the brand name?

    • @vintagestereo
      @vintagestereo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      when i was filming the L100's I was afraid to be negative so Instead I made the remark that not everybody would like the sound and better do a good sound test first before buying them.

      +vintage stereo the L100 was/is a rock speaker with muddy bass. Even Jbl fans (like found on AK or Lansing Heritage Forums) would admit that it's one of the worst. Pls don't judge Jbl by the L100. Buy the speakers you see in the Kendrick vids. If you don't want to go big then grab a decent bookshelf 4300 or 4400 series speaker like 4313b. I collect and sell Jbl's and I get offers from all over Asia. The latest was a guy in Philippines who arranged all of the shipping and then overpaid. A lot of the good gear here in Canada is bought up by Asians here and put in container ships.
      I was late 2hrs responding to an ad in Windsor where a guy was selling off his gear. He called me and told me everything decent was already gone- including the l65 jubals I was after.

      why do people want to pay so much for the L100? what you think about the new jbl 4312Se anniversary speakers they show on ces this year. Worth making a video from those speakers presentation ore not? They look cute

      +vintage stereo Yeah ; they're recreating a lot of the older 43&4400 series bookshelves. Check out this thread; especially posts 4&7.

      If you build it; they will come. Not sure how these newer small monitors stack up against the originals. I'd love to stumble onto a pair but I don't think I will as many are only sold in Asia;(
