Reminds me of my case. I filed a contempt order against my ex for refusing my visitation, to which she responded to by requesting that I have 2 hours of supervised visitation a week. It ended up with me getting full custody and she was ordered the 2 hours of supervised visitation a week. I didn't have a lawyer, she just destroyed herself in every hearing, except the one she missed because she got a DUI on the way to court.

And I get that, but I still think people are overlooking the actual problem here. He didnt object when she said multiple times that all he pays for the childern is the insurance premiums. That's at most 2000 a month for the 4 children. Now I get he makes 100,000 a year less then she does, and if I herd correctly he Makes 80,000-100,000 annually. Now assuming this is all true, if things were fa she would be spending $4,000 a month on the childern because he spends 2,000, but she makes twice the amount he does so in all fairness she should be spending twice what he does on the kids.. From what she said she pays for private schooling for the kids (I'd bet it's a high end school, I'm assuming that baised off her demeanor) so per child that's anywhere between 10,000 to 50,000/year and some are more but let's go with the lower end to stat on the safe side, So 4 children at 10,000/year comes out to $833.33 per month per kid, so 830 times 4 kids we are looking at 3,332 in total just for schooling for the kids. Now she also mentions afterschool sports and clubs, then you have clothing, school supplies, etc. So in the end shes paying way more when it comes down to it.. Also how is it a bad thing shes using her own money for a cook and housekeepers? She has a very demanding job that makes up alot of her time, and insted of coming home and cleaning she would rather come home and gave a glass of wine while being around the childern, I find that commendable. The other options here is have the childern live in a disorderly house and make microwavable dinners for themselves -or- after working a long day come home and have to cook and clean and that would lead to burn out for her. The father in this case is the ass hole who should pay more.

And it sounds like she has the kids half the time so really she is only cooking for herself half the time. @ratine6819 i read it depends on what state they are from. Because a lot of states have mediator laws where whoever is the mediator is now lawfully the judge. So if they sign a form saying that the tv judge is their mediator, it doesn't matter if the person is a real judge or not, by law the verdict is real and they have to uphold it.
I never saw a penny of the child support my dad sent... it all went to my egg donors habits of drinking, weed & going out partying every weekend. 🤷🏽♀️ The best part is I no longer have any communication with egg donor & only talk to my dad!! ETA to clear a few things up for the comment section: 1. Thanks for the support & hugs to those who have dealt with the same. 2. My egg donor worked AND received child support while my grandparents raised me WITHOUT her giving them a dime. 3. At the point I did finally go to live with the bitch, she not only had a "daddy of the weekend" around, but intentionally kept me away from my dad. 3. I was brainwashed by her to believe my dad abused me, didn't love me or want to be around me. 🤷🏽♀️ 4. She married a pedo when I was 9, but still made me believe that my dad & step mom were worse than my home life. 5. I started working at 12 & buying most of what I "needed". Clothing, girl essentials (including deodorant, shampoo, soap, etc). 6. By the time I was 16, I rarely stayed at the "house" some of you seem to say that is what the CHILD support goes towards. WRONG!! She is to provide that regardless of CHILD support... as well as food, although I paid for my own & most nights had to bring home food that was taken off MY paycheck. Read that again. 7. I was 21 when I FINALLY reunited with my dad & found out the truth, not only from him but her family members as well. 8. He DID try to get custody of me when I was 3 months shy of turning 12. She was suing him for MORE CHILD support, however the judge wouldn't let me into the courtroom bc I wasn't 12 yet. So she got more money & he got nothing. I would have told the judge what I was dealing with, but he never spoke to me. 13. I'm grown & have a grown child. I divorced his dad when our son was 5, but we ALWAYS made sure he was provided for physically, emotionally & financially. I NEVER asked for child support or spousal support & we had 50/50 custody & worked together as a team for all holidays, including spending some together with our S.O.'s. I learned there is NO amount of money worth my child's wellbeing. I made my own money & did well, as did his dad. And last, but not least... for those who have never had to experience this level of selfishness or greed, you'll never fully understand. The child support goes for the child's expenses. Period, end of discussion. Housing & food is NOT factored in, as that is the parent's responsibility. For those that think this statement is wrong... maybe don't have kids. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ kids are NOT your money makers, that's what a job is for. If you're not ready to make this level of commitment, don't have kids. YOU need housing & food, what's the difference of adding a child? That support is for THEM... NOT for you to live in a bigger house bc you can't afford it on your salary. NOT for you to eat out every night bc you don't feel like cooking or bc your salary can't afford going out. It's for the fucking CHILD!!! For clothes, shoes, school lunches, all supplies, glasses, medical, dental & any extra expenses the CHILD needs...NOT what YOU need!! Technically child support is to support the child so in the eyes of the law if you had a roof, food, and clothes then the child support was used for support. But my mom was similar, used the child support for herself and things she wanted instead of things we needed

you guys really cant think past whats being said. let me make this a little easier for you. say we are friends and we decide to go see a show where tickets are $150 each so to make it easier I buy the two tickets. I go to you a week later and want to go on a date with my husband so i say "hey Ive got no money for my date tonight do you have that $150." you say "I dont have to pay for your date!" Thats kind of how this is going. its not about what she wants to buy its the fact hes not paying anything. also shes making 170,000 a year and she should be able to do all those extras, i bet hes paying for BS that she couldnt

I understand she makes more but if he only sees rhe kids 2 weekends a month and she's rhe primary caregiver, why shouldn't the father have to pay something to contribute to the children's expenses? If she's the only one funding their children, he's just a visiting parent. When you have children both parents should contribute.

As a single Mom I had the cheap hair cut, worn out shoes, painted my own nails. Worked 55 hrs a week in factory, so that my hours worked with school. I was my own personal 👩🍳 chef. My child support put a roof over my children. This witch 🧙♀️ is clueless

The judge was another woman. She saw through that and wasn’t buying it. Women are harder on other women when they see bull shit when the man is being reasonable. During jury selection on some cases, sometimes women are excluded by one side or the other depending on the sex of the parties.
The sad thing is that 3 innocent children are learning that this behavior is acceptable. They will believe that they are entitled to whatever they want whenever they want it. They belong with the dad or his family. She is only a negative influence on them.

She most certainly can afford it. My husband makes only 50 some thousand a year and I still can get my hair and nails done and other things. Our kids want for nothing. @@aureliana2001 Also, 170k a year is not exactly an exorbitant income if you have 3 kids all in private school plus another that sounds like maybe out of school? (would hate to think that child does not get the private school and other perks). It seems to me, while some of that would be deductible perhaps (with the new tax laws probably not though, simple filing with flat standard deductions) that alone could be 30 to 40 percent of her take home income (which is prob like 10-12k a month depending on who gets to claim those kids, I would imagine her (but splitting it would be fair if they are 50/50 shared time in supporting). Then throw in all of their activities. It does depend on where you live and its cost of living, but where I am in the NYC metro area, even 100k a year with a family of 5 is practically subsistence level living. That means no or FEW extras, definitely no private school, chefs, maids, vacations, and salons!!!!! Rent/mortgage alone for a family that size is anywhere from 2.5k (the very lowest end) to 4.5k a month! I don't know about you, but food alone for that many people is easily 1k a month, way more probably. Now bring in utilities, clothing, shoes, phones, internet, car payments, car insurance, etc etc uh it's a nightmare, you know. This guy cannot be living too well on 70k unless he's in the middle of Iowa or something. I spent about 5 days on a car vacation last year (did'nt fly, my own car) and have a wife and child. That vacation about 300 miles away (Wash DC area) cost well over 2k and it was not exactly luxurious. Shit is just expensive and the money pisses away.

I was a single parent and successfully raised 3 beautiful children to become great adults. I worked as a caretaker to a wonderful woman and I had to supplement my income by cleaning 3 houses because I only received 125 per week in child support, and that was after I took him to court to fight to get him to actually pay. I’d like to see her try to get along with that amount of income. We made it and my children are grown and happy, responsible adults.
Yep been in the same situation . I currently receive a whopping $42 a week for 2 children. Well I should say when I receive it. I've learned to provide for my kids on my income and when I do receive the child support I give it to my kids to go out to the movies or eat out on.

While raising him I had a $6750 medical deductible before one penny was paid each year along with $200 a month in therapy and special dietary needs . No help from the government. All I asked for in court was for their father to see them and work more than 14 hours a week. He gave up his job as a plant manager so he wouldn't have to pay child support or medical insurance and the state allowed it. Everyone needs to take accountability for the children that are brought into this world .

Where I'm from, common law marriage, by living with eachother for two years, is as legally binding as a legal marriage. A prenup is meaningless in that situation. No matter what someone has in their will, the spouse automatically gets everything when the other dies.
Prenuptials are useless. Because she can just say that she signed it under duress even though if you video taped it and everything else. Then it's null and void and you still get fucked.
and my problem is that child support is based on income and not what a child reasonably needs. your child does not need privateschool, they do not need extra activities. child support should be a flat number per child with exceptions for disabled and disability c hildren as those cost more and exception for people who make less than what is required. I have seen football players ordered to pay 100k in child support. that is absurd. no child needs that to grow up.

High paying jobs are often difficult and dangerous, that's why they're high paying. They can be impossible to continue in situations such as high personal stress, due to a family break up. But someone besides your partner should be in final authority over their career decisions, correct?

She doesn't get any child support money from him because she makes more money than he does, hence there are no receipts to show. He contributes by paying for the kids health insurance. She actually went to court to ask for child support money from him, but it backfired: the judge said that she has to pay child support to him because they have the kids 50/50, and he also has another child (not with her) that he has to support.
I know a guy that met a single mom. They got married he adopted the kid when it was a baby. They were married a few years. Now divorced, the guy is paying child support until the kid turns 21.

I get notices about comments being removed for not adhering with their rules, but they don't say which comment or how you broke that rule, so it's useless, and yet, they don't get it. I am a single mom, I’ve raised my children by myself since my third child was 2 months old and she is now 28. I never got a penny from my ex husband, I worked 2 jobs for years and had to get subsidies from income support unfortunately, however necessary. As a parent you do what you have to do and sacrifice what you have to sacrifice. My children always had food and clean clothes and a home to live in. They did extra curricular activities and all three graduated and went on to university and all are working good jobs, actually careers. I am gobsmacked at the audacity of some of the greediness of some of the women demanding unbelievable amounts for basically themselves! Every penny of child support should be spent on the children and I firmly believe that the courts should require proof that the child support payments are being spent on the children. Whether the custodial parent is mom or dad, prove the money is being spent on the child. This judge is very grounded and fair and doesn’t stand for the BS and I applaud her.
I firmly believe in child support not necessarily through the state But both parents should be involved in care for the kid(s) And it needs to be reasonable And 50k is ridiculous Especially since the woman here makes way more than the dad My parents divorced when I was 5 Later my mom met a man who she never married But he was able to gamble with my dad's child support because it went into a joint account He could buy booze and things for his son that he and my mom had together While telling my older brother and I we don't have the money It pisses me off when a parent treats the kid like pawns and has severe hate toward the dad's in most cases

Shit like this pisses me off...this woman wanting tons of money for HER needs. Being a parent means sacrificing your wants/needs over the good of the child. My ex literally pays me a whopping $50 a month (court ordered) and even working full time I still need help through the government. Some men get screwed over financially by woman like this who just want the money for greedy reasons while mothers or fathers who genuinely need the help of child support get smacked in the face by a judge who thinks $50 a month is enough. Remember the idea is that the child lives an equal life with either parent. So a roof, food, clothing, activites.. Something papa or mama should contribut to equally.

OMG! what a narcissist. I got child support, but I was working a full time job and coaching soccer (as a volunteer). I did not get my nails "done" nor did I get my hair cut at a salon with regularity. I worked to pay the bills, the child support was for my daughter's After school care and anything she needed for school.

Sounds like the mother is the only one putting the children first. SHE is the one who is putting all her money into the support of her children while her ex husband is paying only for health insurance. She deserves to be able to do her hair and nails and her children's father deserves to pay support for HIS kids regardless of the difference in income. I remember in 1980s a friend was bent over for LARGE Child & Spouse support including $1200 month for MAKEUP. It all back fired when HE got the children after another marrying again and SHE had to pay the agreed amount that she demanded.

When my house burned down, my friend gave me her year's savings so I could get myself and my brothers something nice. It was gone in a day because of my mom's addictions. Parents who take money that's meant to be for their kids, whither it's money they got on their own or money that's given because of a court order for themselves are the absolute scum of the earth and I think it's good more shows are bringing awareness to situations with parents like these. You sound like a wonderful mother, and I hope you and your children are doing well. It's good to hear when parents actually do what's right after a divorce.
As long as you're out there making sure your kids are provided for and well taken care of, there isn't any way the actions of any of these selfish, despicable people will ever be anything but a disservice to the work you're putting into earning the title of "Mom". I went to court and voluntarily ended child support collection against my ex-husband when my son was very, very young. I was able to voluntarily end child support collection efforts against my ex, because I always had a JOB, my child was never on government hand-outs such as health insurance and or food stamps because I supported him. I didn't want my son's entire childhood to be spent listening to his divorced parents screaming about "child support," as my parents did when I was a child.
My mom used to give me every penny of the little child support that my dad did (finally) start to pay. When he tried to get out of child support by settling for $6000 and not paying any more child support and not paying back child support that he owed us, my mom asked me first if I would want to settle and I said yeah if it makes him and his wife stop complaining and I can be done with them. So we settled. I appreciate my mom for that so much.
I recently showed my 15 yo son paperwork showing I was 40 grand behind in cs and then showed him paperwork showing its down to 15k in 4 years time hes been living with me...then I asked how much of that he has seen? his answer was none. he still hasn't heard from her at all this year and only does when he finally gets ahold of her.
My mom raised 3 of with without child support, while my dad was stealing money from her, stealing the mail and getting the mortgage in the rear and almost foreclosed on us, breaking into the house and garage and stealing our items, not following through with promises, then he was found dead from an overdose that was intentional and this lady PAID FOR HIS ENTIRE FUNERAL. Because, in her words, “he’s the father of my kids and I will always love him for that”. Plus more things that occurred after. If the mom wants it, she will work for it.

I never knew my father was paying child support for me until one day I went to the mailbox one day and there was an envelope addressed to me, and when I open the envelope a check was inside it payable to me along with my mothers name as it was from the child support agency...My mother never saved the money up for me as in putting it in a savings account so I could attend college...she spent the money on herself...and her explanation to me was, it is for your room and board?! I was like I am only 11 years old..and since when do I have to pay for my own room and board? I told my mother it is your responsibility to raise me...not for me to raise myself...I agree, men shouldn't have to pay for the ex-wife's life style...and it doesn't take thousands of dollars per month to care for one child...it is all a scam to drain a man for his hard working money while his ex lives a life of luxury.
Of course there’s plenty of parents who receive child support and live off of it or spend it on themselves and not the kids. Howeverrrrrr what a custodial parent does receive is meant to aid in the expenses that come with raising a child which includes everything from food to braces payments to putting that money towards maintaining a stable home for the child. Child support is absolutely not meant or expected to be saved and put away for each child to have a surprise on their 18th birthday. If a parent is able to do this, great, but majority of parents receiving child support allocate that money towards bills and expenses for the child. It’s extremelyyyyyy entitled to believe that you personally had a claim to that money over your mother who used it for household and daily living expenses. Child support is meant to provide financial support for the custodial parent to maintain a child’s lifestyle, school life, and social life. Period.
It actually does cost thousands of dollars a month to raise a child. I'm a single mom who only receives $197 per month child support. All of which goes to his half of the expense for transportation for my son to get to and from school since I work full time from home. In child care alone, the expense is $400 per month. Let alone extra food expenses since my son alone eats $300 worth of groceries all on his lonesome.
The support by law would go directly to your mother. Your name is only on court papers. And by law your living expenses are what child support is for. Not meant to go directly to you ever and not meant for a savings account. If that is possible it is because mom was making enough and paid for everything on her own so she saved child support. That however is rare because kids are very experienced every month in every way. If you didn't see the struggle that meant you had a good mom who made sure you didn't see it.

@Samantha except I know someone who LIVES off child support. She gets $900 a week. It's not even due to court order. He just pays her $900 a week on his own. He also pays for the kids medical. Mom.. she doesnt work. Never worked. The kids are in school for 8 hours a day, and she doesn't work during that time. She did attempt to take him to court to get him to pay more, but the judge laughed as he was giving her SO much more than required. He still pays her the same amount as she doesn't work nor wants to. She uses the money for food, clothes, shoes for the kids. But also for herself too. Oh and she has brainwashed the daughter into hating her father. Tells her he doesn't pay for anything for them. She understood that I was messed up in the Streets and she said, "that would be crazy to think He's going to be able to pay Child Support and I know that He's going to get it right someday, so I'm not going to condemn His future! Reminds me of my case. I filed a contempt order against my ex for refusing my visitation, to which she responded to by requesting that I have 2 hours of supervised visitation a week. It ended up with me getting full custody and she was ordered the 2 hours of supervised visitation a week. I didn't have a lawyer, she just destroyed herself in every hearing, except the one she missed because she got a DUI on the way to court.

He didnt object when she said multiple times that all he pays for the childern is the insurance premiums. That's at most 2000 a month for the 4 children. Now I get he makes 100,000 a year less then she does, and if I herd correctly he Makes 80,000-100,000 annually.
Now assuming this is all true, if things were fa she would be spending $4,000 a month on the childern because he spends 2,000, but she makes twice the amount he does so in all fairness she should be spending twice what he does on the kids..
From what she said she pays for private schooling for the kids (I'd bet it's a high end school, I'm assuming that baised off her demeanor) so per child that's anywhere between 10,000 to 50,000/year and some are more but let's go with the lower end to stat on the safe side, So 4 children at 10,000/year comes out to $833.33 per month per kid, so 830 times 4 kids we are looking at 3,332 in total just for schooling for the kids. Now she also mentions afterschool sports and clubs, then you have clothing, school supplies, etc. So in the end shes paying way more when it comes down to it..
Also how is it a bad thing shes using her own money for a cook and housekeepers? She has a very demanding job that makes up alot of her time, and insted of coming home and cleaning she would rather come home and gave a glass of wine while being around the childern, I find that commendable. The other options here is have the childern live in a disorderly house and make microwavable dinners for themselves -or- after working a long day come home and have to cook and clean and that would lead to burn out for her.
The father in this case is the ass hole who should pay more.

@ratine6819 i read it depends on what state they are from. Because a lot of states have mediator laws where whoever is the mediator is now lawfully the judge. So if they sign a form saying that the tv judge is their mediator, it doesn't matter if the person is a real judge or not, by law the verdict is real and they have to uphold it.

She is to provide that regardless of CHILD support... as well as food, although I paid for my own & most nights had to bring home food that was taken off MY paycheck. Read that again.
7. I was 21 when I FINALLY reunited with my dad & found out the truth, not only from him but her family members as well.
8. He DID try to get custody of me when I was 3 months shy of turning 12. She was suing him for MORE CHILD support, however the judge wouldn't let me into the courtroom bc I wasn't 12 yet. So she got more money & he got nothing. I would have told the judge what I was dealing with, but he never spoke to me.
13. I'm grown & have a grown child. I divorced his dad when our son was 5, but we ALWAYS made sure he was provided for physically, emotionally & financially. I NEVER asked for child support or spousal support & we had 50/50 custody & worked together as a team for all holidays, including spending some together with our S.O.'s. I learned there is NO amount of money worth my child's wellbeing. I made my own money & did well, as did his dad.
And last, but not least... for those who have never had to experience this level of selfishness or greed, you'll never fully understand. The child support goes for the child's expenses. Period, end of discussion. Housing & food is NOT factored in, as that is the parent's responsibility. For those that think this statement is wrong... maybe don't have kids. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ kids are NOT your money makers, that's what a job is for. If you're not ready to make this level of commitment, don't have kids. YOU need housing & food, what's the difference of adding a child? That support is for THEM... NOT for you to live in a bigger house bc you can't afford it on your salary. NOT for you to eat out every night bc you don't feel like cooking or bc your salary can't afford going out.
It's for the fucking CHILD!!! For clothes, shoes, school lunches, all supplies, glasses, medical, dental & any extra expenses the CHILD needs...NOT what YOU need!!

(would hate to think that child does not get the private school and other perks). It seems to me, while some of that would be deductible perhaps (with the new tax laws probably not though, simple filing with flat standard deductions) that alone could be 30 to 40 percent of her take home income (which is prob like 10-12k a month depending on who gets to claim those kids, I would imagine her (but splitting it would be fair if they are 50/50 shared time in supporting). Then throw in all of their activities. It does depend on where you live and its cost of living, but where I am in the NYC metro area, even 100k a year with a family of 5 is practically subsistence level living. That means no or FEW extras, definitely no private school, chefs, maids, vacations, and salons!!!!! Rent/mortgage alone for a family that size is anywhere from 2.5k (the very lowest end) to 4.5k a month! I don't know about you, but food alone for that many people is easily 1k a month, way more probably. Now bring in utilities, clothing, shoes, phones, internet, car payments, car insurance, etc etc uh it's a nightmare, you know. This guy cannot be living too well on 70k unless he's in the middle of Iowa or something. I spent about 5 days on a car vacation last year (did'nt fly, my own car) and have a wife and child. That vacation about 300 miles away (Wash DC area) cost well over 2k and it was not exactly luxurious. Shit is just expensive and the money pisses away.

I worked as a caretaker to a wonderful woman and I had to supplement my income by cleaning 3 houses because I only received 125 per week in child support, and that was after I took him to court to fight to get him to actually pay. I’d like to see her try to get along with that amount of income. We made it and my children are grown and happy, responsible adults.
Yep been in the same situation . I currently receive a whopping $42 a week for 2 children. Well I should say when I receive it. I've learned to provide for my kids on my income and when I do receive the child support I give it to my kids to go out to the movies or eat out on.

While raising him I had a $6750 medical deductible before one penny was paid each year along with $200 a month in therapy and special dietary needs . No help from the government. All I asked for in court was for their father to see them and work more than 14 hours a week. He gave up his job as a plant manager so he wouldn't have to pay child support or medical insurance and the state allowed it. Everyone needs to take accountability for the children that are brought into this world .

Where I'm from, common law marriage, by living with eachother for two years, is as legally binding as a legal marriage. A prenup is meaningless in that situation. No matter what someone has in their will, the spouse automatically gets everything when the other dies.

and my problem is that child support is based on income and not what a child reasonably needs. your child does not need privateschool, they do not need extra activities. child support should be a flat number per child with exceptions for disabled and disability c hildren as those cost more and exception for people who make less than what is required. I have seen football players ordered to pay 100k in child support. that is absurd. no child needs that to grow up.

She doesn't get any child support money from him because she makes more money than he does, hence there are no receipts to show. He contributes by paying for the kids health insurance. She actually went to court to ask for child support money from him, but it backfired: the judge said that she has to pay child support to him because they have the kids 50/50, and he also has another child (not with her) that he has to support.

I am a single mom, I’ve raised my children by myself since my third child was 2 months old and she is now 28. I never got a penny from my ex husband, I worked 2 jobs for years and had to get subsidies from income support unfortunately, however necessary. As a parent you do what you have to do and sacrifice what you have to sacrifice. My children always had food and clean clothes and a home to live in. They did extra curricular activities and all three graduated and went on to university and all are working good jobs, actually careers. I am gobsmacked at the audacity of some of the greediness of some of the women demanding unbelievable amounts for basically themselves! Every penny of child support should be spent on the children and I firmly believe that the courts should require proof that the child support payments are being spent on the children.
Whether the custodial parent is mom or dad, prove the money is being spent on the child.

I went to court and voluntarily ended child support collection against my ex-husband when my son was very, very young. I was able to voluntarily end child support collection efforts against my ex, because I always had a JOB, my child was never on government hand-outs such as health insurance and or food stamps because I supported him. I didn't want my son's entire childhood to be spent listening to his divorced parents screaming about "child support," as my parents did when I was a child.

When he tried to get out of child support by settling for $6000 and not paying any more child support and not paying back child support that he owed us, my mom asked me first if I would want to settle and I said yeah if it makes him and his wife stop complaining and I can be done with them. So we settled. I appreciate my mom for that so much.

I never knew my father was paying child support for me until one day I went to the mailbox one day and there was an envelope addressed to me, and when I open the envelope a check was inside it payable to me along with my mothers name as it was from the child support agency...My mother never saved the money up for me as in putting it in a savings account so I could attend college...she spent the money on herself...and her explanation to me was, it is for your room and board?! I was like I am only 11 years old..and since when do I have to pay for my own room and board? I told my mother it is your responsibility to raise me...not for me to raise myself...I agree, men shouldn't have to pay for the ex-wife's life style...and it doesn't take thousands of dollars per month to care for one child...it is all a scam to drain a man for his hard working money while his ex lives a life of luxury.
Of course there’s plenty of parents who receive child support and live off of it or spend it on themselves and not the kids. Howeverrrrrr what a custodial parent does receive is meant to aid in the expenses that come with raising a child which includes everything from food to braces payments to putting that money towards maintaining a stable home for the child. Child support is absolutely not meant or expected to be saved and put away for each child to have a surprise on their 18th birthday. If a parent is able to do this, great, but majority of parents receiving child support allocate that money towards bills and expenses for the child. It’s extremelyyyyyy entitled to believe that you personally had a claim to that money over your mother who used it for household and daily living expenses. Child support is meant to provide financial support for the custodial parent to maintain a child’s lifestyle, school life, and social life. Period.
It actually does cost thousands of dollars a month to raise a child. I'm a single mom who only receives $197 per month child support. All of which goes to his half of the expense for transportation for my son to get to and from school since I work full time from home. In child care alone, the expense is $400 per month. Let alone extra food expenses since my son alone eats $300 worth of groceries all on his lonesome.
The support by law would go directly to your mother. Your name is only on court papers. And by law your living expenses are what child support is for. Not meant to go directly to you ever and not meant for a savings account. If that is possible it is because mom was making enough and paid for everything on her own so she saved child support. That however is rare because kids are very experienced every month in every way. If you didn't see the struggle that meant you had a good mom who made sure you didn't see it.

She gets $900 a week. It's not even due to court order. He just pays her $900 a week on his own. He also pays for the kids medical.
Mom.. she doesnt work. Never worked. The kids are in school for 8 hours a day, and she doesn't work during that time.
She did attempt to take him to court to get him to pay more, but the judge laughed as he was giving her SO much more than required. He still pays her the same amount as she doesn't work nor wants to. She uses the money for food, clothes, shoes for the kids. But also for herself too.
Oh and she has brainwashed the daughter into hating her father. Tells her he doesn't pay for anything for them. Doesn't give them money and what not. So daughter hates him because mom lied. Son is disabled but is in school for 8 hours a day. She can't brainwash him, but probably would if she could.
Abuse goes on in the home toward both kids.
Dad can't do anything as courts wouldn't let him have custody of the kids because the mom is a woman. He hasn't seen his kids in years
She should trade that personal chef for some healthy choice meals to save some money.

My Son's Mom (may she continue to RIP) never took me downtown for Child Support, Beautiful Woman! She understood that I was messed up in the Streets and she said, "that would be crazy to think He's going to be able to pay Child Support and I know that He's going to get it right someday, so I'm not going to condemn His future! That was 15yrs ago, my Son still lives with me to this day, I'm thankful that she didn't ruin my life!
Even if she cut out one of those extra things that she doesn't need (personal chef, cocktails), she could've had those pamper days. But oh, sweet justice.

Somehow I've survived my 65 years NEVER having spas, nail salons, hair salons, private chefs, etc.
And I can't imagine demanding MORE money for that sort of LUXURY spending from someone making $100K a year LESS than me.
