You two are so much more entertaining than anything on cable TV. And you're real! My husband too is a cookie monster. So we do not have many of those fancy water jugs. We had lots of gallon jugs. The 275 gallon ibc froze solid, something we didn't expect in Arkansas. By the end hubby was hauling those gallon jugs to and from the spring. Without running water we washed dishes with boiling water and gave them a good wipe down with peroxide to make extra sure they were clean. Oh and our hot water heater is still out. The thermostat burned out but at least that's running water now. I see your struggles and I understand them. We finally started using two of those 55 gallon barrels to catch rain water off our awning. My brother has a 275 gallon IBC on stilts oustide his cabin to gravity feed his water in like yours. I can see that wouldn't work there though lol. Sorry for my super duper long comment. Oh and cheese! We finally got into that aged white chedder goat cheese and omg it is delicious. I froze a small portion of that calico cheese so I could tell you if it freezes well. Pulling it out today. Ok, I'm done blabbing 😂 love yall, take care friends ❤❤❤

I Always laugh and smile through your entire video, thank you for the enjoyable time. Mr.Reeve I love the lighted, water gauge, pretty ingenious. one thing I noticed that might help your water quality, green garden hoses are made from recycled plastics, on the other hand white hose that you can buy for your RV water fill are made for potable water. Just my two cents.Peace and blessings to you both!
Thanks friend. If we see a white hose we’ll grab it. We’ll see how it holds up to -25 or if ot just cracks Been drinking out them green hoses our whole lives. No extra limbs yet. Ha!

It take a couple rounds of water run through to get the dye out of your water though. Have a blessed night and stay warm! PS, please make that man some cookies, lol 😂
Ah! Thanks! I thought the food coloring was so odd. That makes way more sense than when I came up with. I’m still not putting that through my Berkey though. Ha!

Did you make your hat? It's so cute!! We've had a Berkey for years. I hate priming the filters. We have a little hand pump to prime the filters. The water tastes like nothing. My truck's name is Tinman 😂 You can also buy a glass cylinder with a spout so you can see how much water is in your tank because you don't want to over fill it. Then you have a big water mess. Don't ask me how I know. 🥴 It still happens with the viewer.
I did not make this hat, my wonderful friend gave it for me for Christmas a couple years back. I do crochet lots of hats, though. I thought about the overfilling thing last night I figure we’ll find out the hard way. Ha!
Interesting video! 👍Nice to let us see the behind the scenes. It's easy for me to spend other peoples money but with that water set up I think I'd be getting some sort of self priming water pump like a Grundfos MQ along with a larger water tank and just run temp hoses/piping to the necessary things that require water. Standing water can lead to legionella but with the size of the small tanks I don't imagine you have much standing water.
Nope. No cookies boys!!! No cookies until he picks up the thingy thing!!! 😅. I’m just kidding guys!! He’s gonna use his cute dad jokes and get his cookies boys! Sending hugs. My funny sweet friends!
I just have some nosey questions...how often do you guys have to go to the laundry mat? Do you have to drive quite a way to get supplies? You guys are so fun. You can see the love you have for each other in your eyes when you look at each other. I canned 20 qts of chicken thighs tonight. Our Three Bears has them on sale this week. I would rather have the skin and bones in them, but these were boneless and skinless.
Oh wow!!! That’s awesome! I’ve canned whole drumsticks before.in Qt jars but not thighs. When you do the whole thighs do you cut them apart at all or do you just cram them in the jar? How many can you get in a QT jar, 2?
@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska these were skinless and boneless, so I just crammed them in jar added 1 teasp kosher salt, wiped tops good, put lids on, put in canners filled canners with cold water, once boiling let boil 3 hrs. The juice in the jars continued bubbling a good ten minutes. I got between 3 and 4 in each jar. Few I cut in half to add to top of jar. Yes I waterbath hon, been doing it over 50 years now. Never lost a jar.
@bonneymoseley1159 No judgement here ever about how people can. 💕💕 I was curious about when you do can with the bones in. Never canned bone in thighs before, but definitely interested. About how many do you think you get in a quart of bone in thighs? I appreciate that can the way that you do. Miss Bonney, I bet there’s a whole lot of things we could learn from you. 😊😊💕

How do you guys store all of your extra cheese and how long can you? The bottle of red food coloring is to test your filters. Place 2 jars under the filters and throw in coloring and about a gallon of water. No red your good! I test mine twice a year. That’s how I found I had a cracked wing nut and I was getting bad water come thru. I’ve seen other people have a cracked filter from shipping. It’s worth testing.
Thanks for the food coloring info. Because the Parmesan is individually wrapped, we stored it in our cold room. And the jalapeño jack cheese we just store in the fridge. It’s never around long enough to go bad. Once we open the package, we completely wrap it in saran wrap so that there’s no air that gets to it and ruins it. We’ve had no issues with it, and we’ve never needed to freeze it. I guess we got to where we needed to use it before it started turning I’d shred it and stick it in the freezer to use in dishes in the future. 😊 Have a blessed week friend.
I think we should have Reeve do his Chewbacca noise! Trust me... he's good at it! :-) Come on Mr. Reeve.... let's hear it! @flattirefarmhomesteadingalaska

Hello my dears, curious about what you work on? With so much snow they have, sometimes how to do it can be quite complicated. I love you and your good disposition. Hugs from Portugal ❤🇵🇹🥰
I use same jugs. Usually great jugs. Random weird one that tightens crooked etc. They had real good customer service and sent me out some spickets and parts under warranty. But I have contacted them again as 4 jugs had ram some sprung a leak or just broke and they havnt got back to me in months. Warranty has gone down hill
Hey Mike, They are bred for this weather and they are livestock guardian dogs so they are trained to stay home and they won’t go far from the animals. They have 40 acres to roam around in. Took 2 years of training but we got there. 💕
@@mikemckinley1031 thanks! We do share on Facebook. Is “facebook publicity” something different. Remember, we are old, so we have to learn all these things piece by piece. Ha!
I went there when I was younger, it’s more a bit of a tourist attraction. I went before there was a hotel or any structure there. It was basically a bunch of sulfur pools. Pretty cool, but nothing you’d want to swim in. Now they have it filtered into a giant pool so visitors can come and swim in it without smelling like sulfur.
being a older lady means I used to drink well water without a filter sometimes I wonder what people now a days loose in all the filtered water what minerals and things we lose. just an observation
I agree with you. There is no city water where we live. Closest city water is at least an hour away. Drank well water most of our lives. Whenever we travel anywhere, we can’t drink the water. Just taste like straight chlorine or yuck. We just figured we had to get this Berkey since I know I was never gonna take that 55 gallon drum down and change it and that water was always just gonna sit up there. Ha! And Tinny is beautiful! Be blessed sweet friend.
Mr. Reeve plays the guitar and I play the piano (a bit). He’s a good singer, me….well you’ve seen my singing. Ha! But I can whistle! Ha! Be blessed friend. We might do a song or something someday. But not anytime soon. Too many other things on the list right now. 😊
We love it. And when you put too many things in your cart because you think you need all the things, you still have plenty of time to remove them from your cart before your shipping date. Ha! saves me tons of money. 😄
It’s on the long term list. We had originally planned on figuring out how to put in a well, and we would just run it with a generator, because the solar power and system that it would take to be able to handle the power drop of a well his huge. So much better deal to just run it with a generator and fill water tanks when you need to. But our driveway with it being half mile long ended up being quite an expenditure. So that’s where all of our well money went.Ha! This works pretty good for now. We have a little bit of a different water system in the summer to water the garden but I’m happy with the system and have no need to change it anytime soon. It would take a whole lot of money to put a well in and whole lot more money to buy a bigger solar system to run it. 😊
That’s because you are cooler than ALL of us! When you could ride in the back of a truck without breaking the law. Ha! Be blessed, sweet friend, and have a great weekend. 💕
If my water wasn't high in iron, i would say get your water from my place. I don't even use my water, I get water at the same place you do. ha ha ha Berky water is a good thing.

Great question friend we don’t really have any manufacturing plants here because it’s so difficult to get materials here. Either things have to be driven up through Canada, flown or barged up from Washington to Alaska. In general things are more expensive here because it cost so much more to ship something all the way here, and there’s an aspect of supply and demand that people take advantage of. Because things are difficult to get here in the first place. They can charge a lot more for it, and people will buy it because they have no other options. it was really difficult before there was online shopping, no one would ship here. we still find shipping problems. I tried to order Mr. Reeve a bolt that he needed for one of his cabinet tools and they wanted to charge me $75 to ship it.

@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska that’s ideal absolutely. Any natural springs in your area? We have one 5 mins away and the water is incredible.

Hello Manuela, are you asking what we do for employment or what is our current homestead project? Be blessed my friend. 💕💕
Great service from the gas station ! :)
It really is! It’s very appreciated around here!

Oooo! Good to know about their customer service!
Oh my god your dogs are free outside and they don’t go anywhere they don’t get cold outside
Hey Mike, They are bred for this weather and they are livestock guardian dogs so they are trained to stay home and they won’t go far from the animals. They have 40 acres to roam around in. Took 2 years of training but we got there. 💕
Oh yes I forgot to ask you if I can share your videos on Facebook publicly
It might help your channel

Did you ever go to those heated springs
I went there when I was younger, it’s more a bit of a tourist attraction. I went before there was a hotel or any structure there. It was basically a bunch of sulfur pools. Pretty cool, but nothing you’d want to swim in. Now they have it filtered into a giant pool so visitors can come and swim in it without smelling like sulfur.
I had to laugh I thought I was the only one who whisled the Andy Griffith show
Ha! Still whistling it this morning while I was drinking my coffee. Ha!
being a older lady means I used to drink well water without a filter sometimes I wonder what people now a days loose in all the filtered water what minerals and things we lose. just an observation
Who’s the musician? I saw the guitar in the stairway. Will we ever see a song or two or better yet - someone playing and singing? 🎶🎶🎶
Mr. Reeve plays the guitar and I play the piano (a bit). He’s a good singer, me….well you’ve seen my singing. Ha! But I can whistle! Ha! Be blessed friend. We might do a song or something someday. But not anytime soon. Too many other things on the list right now. 😊
I know about Azure Standard and order from When I can

So question when are going to drill a well?
Is that soap on the rack in the loaf?

Why are the things so expensive in Alaska
Your cookie monster is a jarhead??? 😳
