I’ve been using the 1” straps like that for years. One tip, keep a can of pb blaster, wd40, kroil, etc. especially if you use them in the weather. They get to where they don’t wanna work right if you don’t give them a little oil from time to time.
Hey Andrew! Always love the content . We are working on a new piece of property north Florida finally . Just wanted to say look into Bahia grass. I have never personally grown it but I know people who have in all conditions , sun and shade . Basically grow and mow.
Andrew, try to think about making your tractor part of the trailer. (It's a good rule to follow and it's the law) so if you got in an accident can that tractor fly off the trailer or if it tipped over sideways will it come off or if you hit something straight on will come lunging forward. You're strapping or chains (combined) need to be three times the load weight rating that the equipment is securing the trailer. My best advice is to stop at a DOT weigh station and they can tell you everything they like to see done with how your trailer is attached to your truck, strapping of certain equipment and the load ratings. That's the best thing I can tell you what to do. Just remember you are responsible for that load in an accident, a turnover, tire blowout, etc. Knowledge is power.
I've always chain down 4 corners, plus attachment. so if you have an excavator, 4 chains/ binders on corners and one for boom. on a backhoe with loader i do, 4 corners plus one on backhoe boom one on front loader bucket.
TKCL, Nice Work! With all the equipment you have, you just hired yourself a one man band clean up crew👍🙂. Looks like you earn are a rock star today. Just wondering what kind of fish can you catch in that river. Looks like a kayak is good to explore around in that river. Looking forward for the next episode.
I know in the Netherlands I needed a strap/chain in each corner when transporting machines for my boss. That had to do with creating redundancy in both the forward and backward directions. For instance, if your back chain or fastner broke, it would give your tractor or other load a lot of slack on the front chain and in case of an emergency brake situation, even with only a 3000 pound tractor, that load can build up a lot of momentum/energy in the 1 to 4 ft of slack it now has. That momentum would possibly overwhelm the frond chain, causing your load to come off the trailer into your truck. So in addition to needing the four straps, each strap needed to be rated to at least hold the load on its own with some to spare.
Centipede grass is best. Grows low, covers well, likes shade, and best of all, little to no pest problems like St Augustine!!!! Nice on the barefoot as well😅😊
Centipede and Zoysia are excellent as shade tolerant grasses. I personally have zoysia and I love it. You can get plugs and it will fill in pretty quickly. Both are short and rarely need cutting. I think centipede is more drought tolerant.
Hello Andrew ☀️ excellent tractor work as always. Outdoor videos are my favorite. This water property is just what you and Tiffany needed. We're looking forward to the campfires. 🔥❣️
Minimum of two securement devices for 10,000 lbs or less. When the equipment is over 10,000 lbs, then all four corners and buckets, backhoes, etc must be lowered to the deck and secured independent of the 4 corners. But this is Federal rules. Of course, check with your state laws to see if there is anything specific for your state.
This is exactly right Andrew. I spent 18 years in commercial vehicle enforcement with FL DOT and FHP after leaving the SCSO. I’ll email you some more detailed information.
DOT rules say a minimum of 4 separate points of attachment with 4 different tightening apparatus and 2 additional chains and binders for every 10 feet with each attachment having its own securement, as a backhoe would need 1 chain and binder for the front bucket and 1 chain and binder for the rear bucket as well as 4 chains and binders for the machine. Each chain cannot attach to the same point on the piece of equipment but one chain can be used with 2 binders as long as each binder and the single chain do not attach at the same point. I would suggest contacting a DOT officer and have him/her explain the rules so you keep your butt out of hot water...
I have spoken with a DOT officer. The rule is 4 points of contact for equipment 10,000lbs or greater. Only 2 points of contact on equipment weighing less, with the exception of an excavator with a boom. One more point of contact on the boom. I've also looked at the federal rules.
In one of your recent videos you mentioned having fiber internet now. Did you release a video about the install? I must have missed it if you did. Really nice new property
Already Andrew. Are you ready for some information number one? Zoja might be the best choice for your new property. Second, they do make a flail attachment that you can attach to a 0 turn mower. If it grows there you could get it in a 5% mix with some other grasses which may do better in the heat / sunny areas to give you good coverage. The downside is the price :/

D.O.T. regulations require by law that all chains and strap hooks be behind the rub rail. And hooked in a manner that if the chain or strap break the hook will remain hooked and not fall onto the road way.
