- Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun opened on December 20, 2022. We stayed the week of February 1 - 8, 2023. Overall we had a great experience. We travel full time and with no kids, so we much prefer adult only resorts; however, the price was right and so we booked. This video highlights our stay and what we felt was good and areas that need improved. We fully understand that not everyone has the same experience, but we hope this and our walking tour helps you make the decision that is best for you.
It is easy to find faults here, but its been much easier for us to find fun and relaxation. Hope you enjoy and best travel wishes to you.

Nomad, Thank you very much for all your reviews! You obviously put a lot of effort into them so we all appreciate it very much. We will be traveling for spring break in March 2024. We are considering Royalton Riviera Cancun or Royalton Riviera Splash Cancun. Splash is about $1,000 more for the family. We plan to go diamond club with both resorts, but we can also get a swim up at the Riviera. My boys are 12 and 16 years old. We are more pool people than beach but the boys love to jump in the ocean waves. We also like good drinks and food. We plan on traveling for 6 nights. Knowing all this, where would you suggest we stay? Where would you stay and why? Thank you for your input as there is not much information available on Splash. Thank you very much!!

How many swim up bars are there, any that face the ocean ?

Hi there! Thank you so much for both the walking tour and review. We booked an early March trip back in early December and have been very anxious since the hotel IS so new (we actually booked both at Splash and at Riviera next door, just in case). With that said, we are moving ahead with staying at Splash, and your videos definitely helped put our minds at ease....so thank you for that! I hope it is ok to ask a couple questions. In the video, is that the check-in area for Diamond Club? I was curious if you went to check in at the "regular desk" and once you decided to upgrade to DC, were you then sent to the DC area? Since we are traveling with our 8 & 10 year olds, we aren't sure we want to pay all that extra cash, but super appreciative that you commented on how much they charged you for the upgrade. I saw many reviews that mentioned they upgraded to DC at check-in, but you were the first person to mention the cost (which could surely vary). I am curious if you were able to do an on-line check-in and/or an online room selector in advance? We booked directly through the hotel's website, and for a small fee we have that option, but not sure it's necessary (and we likely won't get to the hotel until 1030/11pm at night so hopefully not a busy check-in time). Good Afternoon and thank you for watching and the compliments. We did check in at the main check-in desk first and upgraded there. That is when we were taken to the Diamond Club Lounge to finish up the personalized check-in process. We are Marriott Elite and booked via the Marriott app. I did have the option to check-in online; however, we tend to check-in at the desk as you are more likely to get an upgraded room if they are available. We also typically choose the basic rooms when booking via the Marriott Bonvoy app because we are Titanium status and usually always get an upgrade. If we did not have Bonvoy status, I would have chosen a room based on what we would like, because upgrades are less frequent. I believe the costs for upgrade are set as we were at Royalton Riviera a couple of weeks prior and the cost was the same (we did not upgrade there). But they could change at any point. I am also not sure if the cost applies to children. I hope I was able to answer your questions based on our experience. Your review didn’t cover one key point, to me,,, the beach. Read from other reviews that the water is not crystal clear n there’s seaweed, is that true?
Thank you for watching and for the feedback. The season will definitely determine the beach conditions, although they were working to install a barrier to prevent the seaweed from reaching the beach. There were also cleanup crews working diligently until this barrier was completed. As for the water, I was pleased. It was not as clear as some waters at other coastal destinations, but far more clear than many others.

Is there an app for The Royalton Splash Cancun? All of the previous resorts we have stayed at had there own apps, but I can't seem to find one for splash.

Hi iv been reading online about a lot of guest being sick whilst there ? Did you find that at all when you stayed ?
Thank you for watching. We are not aware of any sicknesses during our stay. We did see any comments or hear anyone talking about being sick or knowing someone who was sick.
You said you need two people for the tube slides, do you know if there’s a weight limit for these? Or a weight limit for any of the slides?
Good Evening, I don't recall if there was an age restriction, but there was certainly a height requirement. This requirement was being strictly enforced.
I’ve heard the waterslides are dangerous, do you happen to know if that’s true?
Thank you for your question. During our stay, not all slides were open yet. However, the ones that were seemed safe to me as there were many kids and adults having fun and I am not aware of any issues. If something occurred after the remaining slides were installed, I would not know. Hopefully someone here can further reply.

In your other walk thru video you mentioned doing a diamond club review. Super interested. Bringing my kids here first week re january 2024. Really struggling with wether or not to splurg the extra $1000 it will cost for it.

How was the pool temps in February? We went to another resort in Cancun last February and want to book another resort for this Feb and the pools were very cold and practically nobody was in the pools except the main pool which was slightly heated. Was considering adults only at Hideaway but I guess those pools are not heated. Trying to find a resort that is lively to make friends, enjoy some evening entertainment but not a crazy party atmosphere and it seems like adults only resorts are party or really quiet so expanding our options.
Thank you for watching. The pool Temps were great, we enjoyed them very much. There were a couple of windy days that brought in cool air, and those days were chillier, but not unbearable.
Do you have anymore info on just the regular pools? Is there one for adults, or anywhere to relax without paying for the diamond area?
Good Evening and thank you for watching. None of the pools are adult only. Diamond Club area has a hot tub that is adult only, and there are no hot tubs on the non-DC side. Hope this answers your question.

While we were there the children's splash pad closed at 5pm and the pools closed at 6pm.
Are the drinks top shelf or do you need to pay extra for that? This resort is one of three choices for a summer trip? Thank you to anyone that can answer.
Thank you for watching. They have some "top shelf" but not the best of the best. To get the higher quality, specifically ask for that brand or they will make the drink with the cheapest. This has been true for us at many all-inclusive resorts and cruises. I hope this helps some. I wish I could give more details, but drink selections at resorts can often be different from one season to another and distributor restrictions.

When are all the water slides supposed to be open?
They had a target of the end of this month, but no later than June. I have seen pictures in the social media chat and looks like they are making good progress.

We stayed at two Royalton resorts (Hideaway (non-DC) and Splash (DC)). The rooms themselves were pretty much standard and not much different.
Maybe they treat you well at the Diamond club.

How was the casino?
