I nearly reserved a spot at this resort until I watched this video. Dealing with all these restrictions isn't enjoyable when you have a six-year-old. The beachfront didn't interest my family much; it reminded us of the beach back home in Virginia. Appreciate your candid review.
Everything seems so perfect!! I've been doing so much research, my head could spin!! I was totally bought into taking my family here but after seeing that beach now I'm second guessing. Great videos and very informative!
Thanks for watching, if you haven't looked already, then check out Planet Hollywood in Cancun. I've been to both resorts and Planet Hollywood was my personal favourite of the 2. Also the ocean is perfect there too
I was just here 10 days ago. My kids 7 and 9 want to go back asap. It was awesome. Food was the best. Couldn't give 2 shits about the rooms, was only in there to sleep. And I put sunscreen on them so they were never sunburnt. And if they wanted shade, they went to the kids club. You will have a blast if you go.
@@kaynerman777This is refreshing to hear, we have a large group going in 2 months. Question, did you experience or hear of any unsafe water park conditions?
hi mate great video, the beach has definitely put me off this resort! could I ask what time of year you went as the seaweed is worse in the summer months and ruins the ocean ? thanks.
We went to Vegas some years ago. There were 2 pools at our hotel, one noticeably smaller than the other. It was fine until a corporate event took place over a few days. The larger pool area was totally closed for the duration, leaving hundreds of paying guests using the small pool, with probably only 100 sunloungers between us. And there were no more than 50 corporate delegates using a pool designed for over 1500 guests. This seems to be a popular thing for Mexican and American hotels to do. We weren't happy at all
Thanks for the honest review. Will definitely watch out for some of those things. You covered "ocean front" quite well, but would you happen to know what the very slight extra charge for "ocean view" gets you over the basic suite?
Hi, glad you enjoyed the video. When we booked, we were travelling with us as a family of 4 in one room, and my Mother and Father in law in another room. At the time of booking, we were going to get 2 different types of rooms, so the only way to try and make sure our rooms were close by was for us to book the Ocean front rooms. I don't think the actual rooms themselves are any different from the standard junior suites, just the views from balconies. If you do book a standard Junior Suite, you have the risk of getting a room with the balcony overlooking the mangroves at the side of the hotel, so just keep that in mind
Honest review you say…no it’s absolutely spot on 👏🏽👏🏽. The beach definitely put me off as I’m a beach person.i hope you was able to get some sort of refund for being unable to use some of the facilities for a few days due to the corporate event. Glad I watched this looks like I won’t be booking 👍🏽
Thank you for your great positive feedback! To be honest, we never tried to get any sort of refund, it probably would have been more hassle than it was worth. If nice beaches are your thing and Cancun is on the cards, I would personally recommend Planet Hollywood. We stayed there the year before, and although the Royalton Splash is still a nice hotel, We found Planet Hollywood to be far more superior.
Can younger children play at the bottom of the splash pad in the shallow area? We are planning to travel with our 2 year old and wanted him to be able to play at the bottom.
Hi, thanks for watching! I can't really see why it would be a problem for your 2 year old to do that. Although personally, after visiting both this resort and Planet Hollywood Cancun myself with 2 young children, I would say Planet Hollywood would be the better choice to take young children. I hope this helps!
This is my question as well. We already booked at the Royalton Splash (and hoping we haven’t made a mistake…) but my kids are 3yr and 5yrs old. Was your youngest allowed to play on the climbing structure at the Splash Pad, but just not use the slides? Was there anything else for your youngest to do? I’m also seeing now that the Bowling & Laser Tag say 12yrs+ in the website!
This was how the beach was in May/June time, so it may improve depending on what time of year you go, but with them having to install a huge seaweed barrier, I'm guessing they always have a problem with it in this area of Cancun. We stayed at Planet Hollywood 12 months prior to our stay here, and the beach there was how you would expect it, crystal clear waters with very minimal seaweed
Im having my wedding here in 2 months and the reviews were glowing if you go back just a year but it seems like all of the reviews I am seeing lately have been really bad. I truly am scared/worried because not only could this be a nightmare for our wedding but also the 60 guests we are bringing with us for this extremely important day. I am hoping we somehow have a better experience, but I am concerned, and we can't back out now.
Hi, no matter which resort you go to, people are always going to have something negative to say. This was just my personal experience, which may be completely different to yours when you come here, so try not to worry too much. I'm sure having so many friends and family there for your wedding will make it even better too

I'm glad it helped you to make an informal choice. Thanks for watching!
Wow if I was looking for a family holiday and had saved up all year for it. This resort would not be on my list. Very informative thank you Mr Gilbert

Never watched a part 2 of a 25 min hotel review video before but it’s the Gilbert’s so here I go!

Would you recommend this resort for families with "kids" that are 16-19?
Hi, where are the boys pool hats from please
Play back speed 1.5x
Thanks for watching!
Good video for deciding
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching
In the splash pad, are adults/parents allowed on the slides?
Hi, I explain this in more detail in the video
Can younger children play at the bottom of the splash pad in the shallow area? We are planning to travel with our 2 year old and wanted him to be able to play at the bottom.

It looks like Issac was able to enjoy the Lazy River and the Kids Club (with the climbing structure and ball pit?)
Hi! Can you tell me how much extra money you had to pay for the Kid's Club?
Hi, thanks for watching! The kids club is no additional charge to your stay 🙂
Hi, with the gym was there an age you had to be to use it?
Hi, I can't remember seeing an age limit on the gym, but I don't know for certain
Just remember that it’s not always like that 😮
Each persons visit will be different, I hope who ever does visit this resort has a great time though!
Was ready to book until I saw the beach 😩

Thank you for this video! I had no idea about the age requirements for all the kids stuff. Seems dumb. We will not be going here because of that

@harrisaSports - So how was the Royalton?
