This guy Miles is a beast. I always love watching his speedruns of Prime and Echoes.
i needed literally 2 years to complete this game as a teenager. no internet, no cheats, nothing. plus I was only allowed to play 1 hour a day.
but now I gotta say, best game of my life.

Don't give us that nonsense. My second play through of the game after nearly 15 years only took 5 days. Not full days either, because I have one of them 9-5 jobs that you work Mon-Fri. If I play the game again, I'd probably do it in 2-3 days. 1-2 days if I can play the whole day.

Miles seemed really irritable during this run. He was constantly correcting and dismissing what the guy on the couch was saying.

DistortedDX I agree with that, but there are nicer ways to do it. I liked the run and usually Miles runs are fun, but I was feeling bad for the people talking with Miles constantly saying "Well actually..."

First time I went out of bounds in Metroid Prime I thought I broke the game and restarted right a a way. These guys are awesome while playing outside the games normal maps without crashing..

I've only ever played prime trilogy and you have the spring ball in that I honestly can't imagine not having it in these games it looks really frustrating.
I'm trying the part where you go back up to fight the ghosts. I can't get the timing for the damn bombs even after 20 minutes of trying. He made it look so easy. :C
Is it just me or do u get the Varia Suit very early in Prime compared to other games?

He tried to hide it, but he got exactly 1 hour on in-game time. Not bad in my opinion.
28:35 Is this trick possible on wii u vc with motion controls? I swear I got the bombs in the exact proper place and it just doesnt seem to bounce samus up in any position after the first one-- as though it were patched out.
Trilogy added in a "one bomb in air" rule which makes that infinite bomb jump impossible. I think that trick still works on the Japanese Trilogy version of Prime though
These always make me feel like a chump for having to get all the items in order!

Only confession I have about Metroid Prime, even though it does make sense from a gameplay perspective: You can't somersault forwards like you can in the previous Metroid games and Metroid Fusion.
I love how the guys trying to tell us about the game sometimes just have no idea what they are talking about.

Mannnn it's too bad they threw in a second check for the item loss when you go planetside. Think of the possibilities.
But then, at the same time, that sort of attention to detail on the part of Retro Studios is what makes Metroid Prime so great. It's considered one of the best games of all time for a reason
Safety things like that indicate that the Devs had a testing zone that the game would first load into at the beginning where they can give themselves powerups, test acrobatics, models, game functions, etc. In that zone they'd have a way to warp into the beginning of the main game, skipping the tutorial area (likely because the tutorial area wasn't created yet).
In this way, the 2nd item loss check was actually the beta game's first check before the Frigate was actually created.

I recently encountered a really weird glitch in the Metroid Prime fight where the boss's animations just started going twice as fast. His attacks came out really quickly and during his phase transition, he would charge at me and turn around really fast too. It went back to normal speed after that. This happened twice in the fight. Has anyone else ever seen that before?
Not a glitch actually! One of Prime Exo's quirks during the fourth round is it can randomly change color phases, charge at you, and also speed up its animations.

Question how is metroid prime a boy but when it fuses with Samus's Phazon suit to become Dark Samus the gender of it is a girl?
The Metroid prime is genderless and when it absorbes samus’s Phazon suit it also gets some of her DNA and becomes dark samus which is referred as a her but probably is genderless as well

KirbyMastah is 1000x more annoying for me than BlueGlass ever was. I love the Prime series and I really want to see the GDQ runs of it but honest to God, KirbyMastah makes them unwatchable for me.

Well if you truly want to beat a game in the fastest time then glitches are necessary but I do agree with you on some level
If you want glichtless speedruns you have to look for a different category. You see the "Any%" on screen? That means beating the game as fast as possible by any means necessary.

2. Stop saying "We could have just skipped xray visor if not for Omega Pirate".... No you cannot, there is an artifact in the same room with Xray visor. You need that to win the game.
4. What was the point of keeping that last pillar after the Meta Ridley fight?

1. Technically Meta Ridley is Ridley. The scan logs are pretty clear that it's the same Ridley Smaus defeated in the original game; the Pirates just revived and upgraded him. So whether or not it's a different character is debatable.
2. Actually you could skip x-ray if not for Omega. You don't need it to collect the artifact in Life Grove; all you need is power bombs. It would not, however be faster to skip it if it were possible, since all it would save is a short cutscene at the expense of making the final boss an enormous pain in the ass. Aside from activating Omega Pirate's hitbox, there are--to my knowledge-- no other places where x-ray is strictly required.
4. Miles used it to do a scan dash into the portal for the Impact Crater, saving a little bit of time.
5. It's a bid war in Super Metroid. Killing the animals doesn't necessarily get you yummy food, but it does save the runner(s) from a pointless 26 second detour.
6. When there's a GDQ event going on they broadcast it on Twitch. It's generally on the front page for the entire event.
Spenser Phillips Thanks. I wasn't clear enough on #2, but that's what I meant, since you'll have to walk right past it to get an artifact, you'll be better off grabbing it for the final boss
