Somebody who’s wife said you *have* to get rid of a guitar; in the hopes that he’ll get an autographed Chapman back in return. “But sweetheart, this was a gift and it’s signed.”
I still think Chapman needs a short scale minimalistic entry level guitar. Scratch plate, one pickup, one volume, swimming pool route. No pro model, nothing fancy. Everything minimalistic, and low cost.
I have one of these and i ve had it for about 5? Years now in the same color. I absolutely love it! So many tones really and im so happy i have this. Using it live and playing it everyday. Its now one of my main guitars. Rob i totally understand why you love this guitar. I hope fender will make these again because i want another one!
I absolutely love this model guitar. I have the sunburst version, but I've significantly modded mine. Refinished it to sherwood green, redid the slide switches so that each pickup is either single coil, series coils, or parallel coils, and added a phase toggle below the tone knob. This was not because I didn't like the factory setup, it's just that I can't leave well enough alone and have to tinker. This thing is a dream.
That Mustang video was my first Chappers video ever! Also the first time I remember hearing good non-studio tones, AND the first time I had it pointed out you could use two amps at the same time. I learned so much from that, and it's been a wild ride ever since. Thank you for everything.
That is a stunning mustang you picked up, and sounds huge ! I have always seen the Fender mustang as the equivalent to the Gibson sg, also very easy to mod, i've always been surprised that they're not more popular.
There's something about that guitar that's really seems to connect with the way you play. It sounds like you and the guitar are working together to form the sound of every note.
This was my first good guitar. A sunburst one. I was in love the moment I saw it. Then one day the electronics stopped working so I took it back to the store i bought it from. They sent it to their luthier and it never came back. 5 years later I still miss it immensely.
Hey Chappers! What a beautiful and responsive little guitar you have there. It reminded me of borrowing a Mustang with single coils when I was about 15. It had an amazing tone for blues. I didn't want to give it back!
I found one exactly like that on eBay today and am super happy with it. Naturally, I jumped into the Interweb to see if others felt the same and ended up here, seeing Rob echoing my sentiments a few months before me.
I have the Squier Bullet Mustang and I got it because it reminded me of the Pawn Shop. Would take some routing and a nicer nut however you can make a poor man's version by getting the pickguard assembly from a Pawn Shop and slapping in there. I didn't need the splitting so the wiring is the same on mine just CTS 500k pots and Dimarzio PAF's zebra'd for some extra flair. As for setting it up I'd just steel wool the frets and leave it at that
Good shit man, I played on an old fender mustang through an old prinston reverb. I absolutely fell in love with just how awesome a guitar the mustang is. I think it's the best fender guitar in my opinion.
Really nice Guitar Rob! Sounds like it would do Blues great also. Look forward to the new EP and please keep the Vids coming. I look forward to them. Have a Great Day man!
Nobody inspires me more to pick up the guitar and start practicing, than Rob does! I've stolen so many riffs from Rob! Haha. Something about watching him play makes me want to immediately grab my guitar! Thanks for being you, Rob!
Its a great for me today. I just attended a clinic by Guthrie Govan. And then i watched your video. I fell in love with mustangs because Kurt Cobain used them. But you made it sound really good.
one guitar that i wish i had bought at the time was a road worn custom tele with rosewood board i have always wanted a custom tele with that killer wide range humbucker in the neck and a 'normal' SC tele pickup in the back. but you don't see a lot of those road worn deluxe teles around damn it!!
I once swapped one of these (bought from andertons of corse) in Manchester Piccadilly station after travelling from Holyhead for a 97 mij strat swap... Loved the strat... but wish I'd kept that Mustang... A because it was a shit hot guitar and B... They're worth a pretty penny now!!!
Well done, Blake. What an awesome guy, who is definitely not me now using a different name than my actual Blake name, saying this so that Chappers will message me and say, "Oh hey, you're the real Blake, where would you like me to send you the amazing thing I'm going to send you as a thank you for this Fender Mustang?" That's not what's going on at all.
So it's the Japanese version. I've got the blue one myself. The Mexican one has truss rod adjustment at headstock, but I've played both & find the Japanese made ones are superior instruments in both build quality & tone. A great guitar (which is why I bought one, lol). Enjoy!
As an American, I can admit Japan makes better guitars than we do here. It shouldnt be an insult to us, as much as it should be a credit to the Japanese. My SQ and E Series Fujigen SQUIERS are as well built, if not better, than my American Fenders
Dude I use my tone nob tons on my (squire VM)mustang, mainly because you need a little more treble and a little more volume to punch thru a mix compared to other guitars and so rolling off the tone on the guitar, cranking the treble and mids on the amp, and then rolling the tone back on to cut thru the mix for a solo or for just a more punchy riff can be quite useful, especially if your like me and have little pedals.
I wish Fender had put the bullet truss rod adjuster on the headstock. Taking the neck off to adjust the truss rod is a deal breaker for me I am afraid.
Thats fantastic! The guy owns a guitar shop and some absolute stranger BUYS AND MAILS HIM a fantastic guitar! Can some kind person send me a Vintage vs6v? Now I wont lie to you, I dont actually own a guitar shop, truth be known I am 47 and I live in South East Ireland and I am unemployed (I am on disability actually so yeah, not much cash). I am not begging, I had a 73 Fender Strat and only last yr gave it to my eldest son. Not begging but appealing to your fantastic philanthropic goodness. Lol, a man can dream cant he?
Hey Rob, Long time fan posting my first comment. Have you ever heard of The Creamery from Manchester? Jamie there custom makes proper wide range pickups. It’s amazing the impact they have on the tone the pickups. Maybe reach out to him there, I know how big of a difference they make in tone compared to the fender stock pickups. Keep up the great content. Cheers from Canada
Blobfishes and other types of music Kurt Cobain is not a rock god. Jimi Hendrix is a rock god. Jimmy Page, Mark Knopfler, Slash, and EVH are rock gods. Kurt comes nowhere close. Not even the same neighborhood.
@Daniel Cannon I didn’t technically say he was; I was making a reference to an interview where the news person asked Kurt Cobain why he smashed his guitars and he said something along the lines of “I do it as a sacrifice to the rock gods”. However I would say he was a rock god; the man pretty much saved the genre in the nineties from cheesy sexist rock that was prominent in the eighties, with an evolved form that easily made nirvana the most famous grunge band ever, and one of the most famous rock bands as a whole ever. He may not have been a guitar god (as let’s be honest nirvana songs aren’t the most technical to learn) but he certainly helped do two things: save a genre (that seemed to be dying a corny death) and help inspire people to rock again, in the traditional style, without standing on a mountain with his chest out singing another power ballad. That’s my opinion. 🤷🏻♂️
@@danielcannon4727 Just cause he can't shred like them doesn't mean he's not in the same neighbor hood, infact I think he just stole some food from Hendrix's pantry right now. Cobain ruled in his own way.
Rob - big fan here........Just a quick question. I know you own an arsenal of guitars and have demonstrated many over the years, however what is your go to....signature fav....workhorse guitar? All the greats have had one particular axe that has defined theirs souls. After watching you and following you for years I feel this Pawn Shop Beast could be 'The One'.
The 3rd of December needs to come faster!!!! Rob can we have a single pleeeaasseeeee!? P.S The new recording of Idle Hands will be on there right? I love that song so much and I'm dying to hear this new version!!!!
What are some cheap ways to achieve your dirty grit sound when you're riffing on the mustang? I have the 2016 p90 mustang it's one of my favorite guitar I want to change the pickups out with some humbuckers.
I think Blake should get a autographed Chapman in return....
You probably are Blake writing under a different screen name. Lmao!!!
To be honest he should get more than that for sending such good kama!. Who the f*ck gives guitars away outside of manufacturers?!
Waynes guitar noodling Friends with money
Somebody who’s wife said you *have* to get rid of a guitar; in the hopes that he’ll get an autographed Chapman back in return. “But sweetheart, this was a gift and it’s signed.”

Sorry I look so tired guys... still getting over the jet lag :-)
I rememeber when you had dreads lol been here for a min. Get rest.
Rob, you should do another coffee video. It has been a few years on this channel and we could all use a good one.
Yeah. I thought you said "Fender Pornshop Special"😁
Rob Chapman you are rich as fuck, but still manage to stay humble. I respect you a lot for that
Just stare at the sun

been watching videos on mustangs lately and fell in love with this one

That thing is pretty cool for sure and the color is spot on, kind of has a nice new-age retro vibe to it.
That is a stunning mustang you picked up, and sounds huge ! I have always seen the Fender mustang as the equivalent to the Gibson sg, also very easy to mod, i've always been surprised that they're not more popular.
Rob, the Pawnshop series by Fender are hidden gems. I have two 72's and love them dearly. Glad you were able to find one
Candy apple red fender bodies with mint green pickguards are always looking great.
There's something about that guitar that's really seems to connect with the way you play. It sounds like you and the guitar are working together to form the sound of every note.

Now looking forward to Snake Oil Pedals... and hoping for some bass pedals... a combo drive/octave pedal? Name... "Dave."
mustangs have such a cool sound! very round and alien sounding. so trippy
I remember the demo back in the day of you and Lee oozing over this Playboy of a guitar. Still would want to be able to find one of these.
the glossy clear coat has its own effect !!! cool... must look great under stage lighting !!!!
0:08 those four notes reminded me that it's been a while since the last time I listened Bleed the Light, what a great song.
YES!!! I *love* the Mustang. Favorite design of all time! Glad to see them anytime.
I dont like the bridges they use. I only like the big one they've always used.
I found one exactly like that on eBay today and am super happy with it. Naturally, I jumped into the Interweb to see if others felt the same and ended up here, seeing Rob echoing my sentiments a few months before me.

Had this guitar. Sold it. Regret it. Build quality is outstanding. Sounds great and so much fun to play.
I love how rob will make any guitar sound exactly the same
Good shit man, I played on an old fender mustang through an old prinston reverb.

That’s got a a really unique but awesome tone. Dang it man now I want one. 😳
Looove the mustang special. Still bummed I didn't grab one when they were being sold off at the end of life sales. Happy NGD!!
Dude those pickups are awesome. Like the good parts of a lipstick tube pickup.with none of the bad parts
SM7 is such a workhorse. Really crazy that a single microphone can be so widely used for so many different applications.
wish i hadn't sold mine years ago, dang it was awesome
You’ve got a sweet evil pirate laugh, hasn’t gotten old in the 5 years I’ve been watching you
My 1st electric was a '64 Mustang (original), got a soft spot for them.
Great sounding guitar, and glad to hear when the new EP drops! Can't wait!
is it just me or the chicken sound effect scared the shit out of me and thought there was a chicken in my room
Vibe match' Glad It Wasnt Just Me!' Yet Still Funny✌
Pause at 9:58 to have Chappers stare into your soul. An endless source of power.
Great choice, plenty of options on the mustang!...always great tones you set!....future favorite!....big fan,,,,,,land o' lakes,WI.usa.
Truss rod adjustment is at the headstock for the 2.0 Mexican made Mustang Specials, so you should definitely hunt one of those down.
Ooh, the Hulfschmid's out of storage. Nice to see that amp again.
What a beautiful Guitar ! And you got it for Nix ! Lucky , lucky Boy , Mr Chapman ! Sounds awesome .
man that blake guy is a saint. i wish i can do that kind of thing.
Great to see you did some videos at my local music store in Canberra.

Great stuff Rob, that's one sweet sounding axe. An embarrassment of riches, at this point mate! 🎸🎸🎸👌👍
Its a great for me today. I just attended a clinic by Guthrie Govan. And then i watched your video. I fell in love with mustangs because Kurt Cobain used them. But you made it sound really good.

So happy for you rob!! She’s a beauty...
any guitar with the big fender headstock is awesome
Wow! Awesome tone and great vibe, thanks rob.
A jazzmaster with that kind of pickups would be very Sonic youth
I once swapped one of these (bought from andertons of corse) in Manchester Piccadilly station after travelling from Holyhead for a 97 mij strat swap... Loved the strat... but wish I'd kept that Mustang... A because it was a shit hot guitar and B... They're worth a pretty penny now!!!
Sweet axe, Rob! I love my Kurt Cobaine ‘Stang. The scale length is shred-tastic!
That riff is awsome Rob
I really wish they would make some of the pawn shop series guitars that were left handed models. This southpaw would really appreciate it.
That Snake Oil pedal certainly gives it a Nirvana-ish tone. Stone Gossard Pearl Jam as well.
4:28 Very much looking forward to hearing this riff in a full song.
i got a mustang a few months ago. it’s so great.
I think that also.
I love Mustang :-) I realyy wish I never sold my '65 reiusse :-( :-(

Circumcising the Globe. I mean, circumnavigating the Globe. Glad to have you back Chappahs. Lol
Sick riff, man.
I need that pedal in my life!
A pair of double-white uncovered buckers would look mint on that
Nice, happy for you rob!

They did. There was two versions of this guitar.
Looks killer tho, doesn't it? I agree with you, but prefer it like this.

Lol, a man can dream cant he?
Sounds amazing
The v2 of this has a truss rod adjustment at the headstock. I let one of those pass me by a few years ago and regretted it ever since.

Intro sounded hugeee!

Man. Kurt cobain would be proud
he would still break it at the end of the show. love it.
Well what can I say? He would have to make a sacrifice to the rock gods!
