@@andertons About the too much reverb, is it possible fender could have the amps without the reverb ,and let you put as much or as little reverb as you wish? Also any comment by yourselves on the argument made about software support?
Well done, guys! This is by far the best out of the box modeling amp that doesn’t cost a fortune and sounds pretty close to a tube amp. Outro is killer example of what it can do. Nice playing samples to get a sense of the sound👏🏻
Hi Lee and Pete. Wendy Melvoin played a modified Rickenbacker 330 throughout her time with Prince and The Revolution. It was extensively modified with G&L pickups for increased sustain, and featured blocked soundholes to reduce feedback, particularly in bigger venues. Her guitar part was recorded live at a gig, and that's what was used on the record. She used the guitar through a Roland JC 120 for the intro to Purple Rain.
Can confirm that the new app works with the old GT40. It is a marked improvement over the previous iteration. The graphical representation of the pedals is a lot better. To be honest I don't remember what the old app looks like because it was too difficult to use lol.
I just played this brand new Fender Mustang GTX50 at a store today with a stock Fender US Strat with the volume and both tone knobs at full 10 and played through about 25 presets and did some simple tweaking with about 5 presets. I've played most popular amps for the past 32 years and am an advanced player. The vibro king and super reverb presets are worth the money alone for sure. But usually with singles coils and all digital solid state amps, I prefer to turn either the tone knobs down to 6 or 7 or the treble on the amp down a little except for the metal 2000 preset which I turned the mid all the way down to 2-4 and the treble and bass to 10 with the bridge pickup and it sounded awesome. I can play Sad But True Metallica or Slayer Seasons in the Abyss with a great tone. The cabinet has better wood and resonance and tone and the processor is superior to my old Fender Mustang IV with two 12" Celestions stock. This amp sounds legit pro level. Some of the amp modeling presets are as good as my Line 6 Helix LT. But I don't like this speaker as much as the one in the GTX100. I'm sure my Celestion F12 X200 12" speaker(made for IR Modeling) that I used in my Fender Champion 50XL will sound better. That amps blows compared to this GTX50. All the old Fender Mustangs are definitely inferior sounding to this new one. The screen is small but is way better functioning and looking than the old mustangs and obviously the app is way better looking and working I'm sure. I would to have this rewired with all pure silver wiring like Zoalla cables and with an all solid pine cabinet like Fender Custom amps. I wish Fender would tell the public the sampling rate and bit rate. I wish digital amps would have 192khz sampling rate with 64 bit, although the Boss GT1000 has 32 bit and doesn't sound better than the Line 6 Helix with 24 bit rate or the old TC Electronic G-System with 44.1Khz sampling rate. Most audio interfaces use 192khz sampling rate now.
I completely agree with Lee, the modelling is very decent on the classic Fender amps. The models towards the end of the video sounded much more tube-like than the earlier combination rigs

Have a Mustang GT40. It was talked about in this vid, but A LOT of people miss it, IF YOU SPEND THE TIME TO TWEAK the settings on many of these presets, you can get some GREAT tones out of these amps. From the correct 'global setting' to throwing an EQ in your chain to backing off the preset gain (like they talked about) - so much can be done to dial it in. I know this vid is old but I have been watching Andertons vids for years. And I have been looking at vids of the GTX for at least a year or more. I kept telling myself that my Fender 85 (65 watts RMS, really stinking loud with the red chicken head knobs) and the Digitech RP-55 effects stomp box and even my Roland GS-6 rack mount processor were all that I need. But I kept seeing great sounds out of this. So, this last weekend, I had some people doing repairs at my house and one of them was young enough to be my son. But really into guitars but not having a lot of funds and having a family to support. I invited him back Sunday initially to get some old tools (for tradesmen) that I am not using any more. And then I gave to him my Hondo Flying V, my Memphis Les Paul Copy, the RP-55, and the Fender 85 amp. It was like Christmas for him. It got some stuff out of the way for me. Modernly, I am really liking the playing on the Ibanez Gio that I got at a pawn shop, dirt cheap. One of those grandma's barn yard kept Corvette deals. And finally had the reason and the excuse to go to Guitar Center in Plano, Texas (wonderful and helpful people there) and get the GTX100 that includes the foot board. And just immediately love the sound. Usable volume. The app is great and even easier to use than the dials on the amp. For a gig amp, you cannot beat it. The whole amp weighs less than the speaker magnet on the old amp. For those who do not know, the 100 watts is more than adequate for small club and church gigs. Venues any bigger than that and you will either be bi-amped or jacked into an AB box that goes to the house PA. Bi-amp is where a PA system mic is placed in front of your mic. And you can record straight into a DAW with this thing. You will not need another amp except for personal desire. If could start all over again, which I have done, this amp is all that I would need. Granted, I understand the desire and mystique to have of a Marshall Super Lead driving two 4X12 cabinets but even in the days of Woodstock, that was overkill. All the amps and stuff were mic'd into a PA system. And a mic does not care about the size of your amp when making a big sound. You would be suprised to learn how many of the iconic guitar tracks were recorded on an amp with less than 100 watts, often less than 50 watts and a Shure SM-57 microphone. That mid-range honky characteristic of the SM-57 works magic for guitar parts.
My pet theory is that the modeling amp fizziness is not because of digital, it's because of BAD IMPULSE RESPONSES. I've auditioned a fair number of digital impulse responses, like in Amplitube or whatever, and certain IRs really sound like opening a bottle of Coke, but others sound GREAT. And if you spring for something super-high quality, like Ownhammer, you can run a Line 6 Helix through it and it sounds spectacular, zero fizz.
^ one aspect of patch locations I see almost misrepresented on most TH-cam reviews The Mustang GT/GTX Amp has 200 patch locations. All 200 patch memory slots are available to be overwritten with your own created or preferred patches you can download from here www.fender.com/tone Use the user Setlist functions to create specific group of patches you wish to use Mustang GTX fresh out of the box (or Mustang GT after a fresh complete FW 3.0 update) those 200 patch slots come pre-loaded with 189 factory patches, which are also on the Fender Tone Cloud Patch Library www.fender.com/tone Today there are hundreds of Mustang GT patches there , many were built using the older firmware ( and work as a basis for significant improvement using the latest arsenal of added Amps & Cabs on FW 3.0 and GTX ) So you are not bound to only having 10 empty user patch slots. You have potentially 200 empty patch locations to freely over write and arrange and create or download different set of 200 patches as you desire The factory 189 Factory patches are NOT burned into ROM and can be user edited. But you can use the SETLIST function to create different SELTLISTS - each with a specific array of patches you need at the gig, in a specific order for easy access using the GTX-7 pedal www.fender.com/tone Also if a patch you try us too bright, too muddy, or not enough low end - edit the Speaker Cab type - makes many horrid patches come alive and suddenly usable Latest Owners Manual covers Mustang GTX / Mustang GT on FW 3.0 www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Original/10001/OM_2310700000_Mustang_GTX_expanded_manual_ENGLISH.pdf MUSTANG GTX (GT FW3.0) ALL PARAMETERS 4/30/2020 - Al available settings for each Amp/Cab/FX drive.google.com/file/d/11Gm-PJbjpgWETWC_3hN5Mf0VN5K3n08U/view?usp=sharing MUSTANG GTX (GT FW3.0) ALL FACTORY PATCHES drive.google.com/open?id=15wJ2ahBScsp1lHNvwW0u8_xez4tnuvOS facebook.com/groups/MUSTANG.GT.GTX.AMP.USERS/

Mustangs always do Fender well, but they obviously don't want to do a Marshall sound well because it always blows. On my old Mustang III I had to use a boosted Bassman model to get a decent Marshall sound.
Holy shit. Thanks. On my mustang II never used marshall or vox presets, because well they sound awful. Bassman preset with everything cranked sounds really decent. If only I had known it 7 years ago....
I found the secret to Mustang Amps is playing them through a REAL cab. Putting in a speaker that also plays your bluetooth songs is a horrible idea/compromise. I play my GT line out into Mustang 5 Head (clean no modeling setting) into a MArshall 1936 cab.

^ one aspect of patch locations I see almost misrepresented on most TH-cam reviews
The Mustang GT/GTX Amp has 200 patch locations. All 200 patch memory slots are available to be overwritten with your own created or preferred patches you can download from here
www.fender.com/tone
Use the user Setlist functions to create specific group of patches you wish to use
Mustang GTX fresh out of the box (or Mustang GT after a fresh complete FW 3.0 update) those 200 patch slots come pre-loaded with 189 factory patches, which are also on the Fender Tone Cloud Patch Library
www.fender.com/tone
Today there are hundreds of Mustang GT patches there , many were built using the older firmware ( and work as a basis for significant improvement using the latest arsenal of added Amps & Cabs on FW 3.0 and GTX )
So you are not bound to only having 10 empty user patch slots.
You have potentially 200 empty patch locations to freely over write and arrange and create or download different set of 200 patches as you desire
The factory 189 Factory patches are NOT burned into ROM and can be user edited.
But you can use the SETLIST function to create different SELTLISTS - each with a specific array of patches you need at the gig, in a specific order for easy access using the GTX-7 pedal
www.fender.com/tone
Also if a patch you try us too bright, too muddy, or not enough low end - edit the Speaker Cab type - makes many horrid patches come alive and suddenly usable

What a legend to include all this info!
Can you please distinguish the main differences between the GT & the GTX please? That would be really great! Also what is the distance you can go using between the two using the Bluetooth to play music? And did they correct the going to sleep on your smart phone issue that dropped the connection when you phone goes to standby mode or sleep mode?
I imagine the music though Bluetooth sounds much better on the GT-200 vs a mono configuration on the GTX series ? Right? Thanks much for your help. I enjoy watch your store demos the most of any by the way!
Love the loop track at the end , all the possibilities!!! I'm stoked!!!!
Wife and i in transportation here in USA driving coast to coast, keeping people feed heathy etc, wife seemed to have a touch of something but all gone now...
God bless and keep rocking have boss katana and a ibenez 600 series 7 string with us to keep rocking when have time.
Love the show for iver 10 years later

Thank you for what yall do, truckers are very underappreciated, especially nowadays.
the stereo DI out is amazing
PURPLE RAIN sounded cool Pete 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎸🎸🎸🎸🎼🎼🎼🎼
The mic'd cabinet sounds so much better than the direct simulated signals and it's not even close.
I’ve got the Katana, but this is making me question its existence. Those different Fender amp patches sound great
Mustangs always do Fender well, but they obviously don't want to do a Marshall sound well because it always blows.
@@puudub You're welcome! Better late than never.
I never tried that.
Thanks.
I always thoug that all the fender amps sound great and all the others are mmeeeehh.
I found the secret to Mustang Amps is playing them through a REAL cab. Putting in a speaker that also plays your bluetooth songs is a horrible idea/compromise. I play my GT line out into Mustang 5 Head (clean no modeling setting) into a MArshall 1936 cab.
Picked up the smaller 25 and love it. Perfect for a smaller room. Sounds good to me 👍. Thanks for the videos guys!
Can you tell the amp manufacturers to put the knobs at the front. I like a reach around but not with an amp.
I prefer top dials,it's just a personal choice but saves my back when dialling in my settings.
I do think it nailed fender amps sounds ! Love it
That outro jam was sooooo good !!
awesome track at the end of the video! well done ..
Rock on lads!! Leonardos playing is always a pleasure, no matter what gear hes playing.
Just ordered the GTX50 cant wait to spend 5 hours messing with effects 🤘
And, still like it?
Nothing like a 46 minute Andertons video to get the time to fly!
Definitely buying this, sounds good
That last little loop is getting into my little channel territory. Hhahaha. Lovely!!
What would be great is if you could universally level the volume across all presets evenly.
I'm waiting for you lot to deliver it and can't wait.

Amazing presets!
The looping jam at the end is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a great video!!
FINALLY~ a Great GTX💯 review from you guys! Thank you 🙏
I had a mustang 4 150watt amp I bought new in 2012 and im telling you its my favorite amp I've ever owned. Looking for another one now but wanted to do some research first to see if their is anything newer out now that might catch my ear
1:19 Bless you, Pete. Hope that wasn’t a “wrong” cough 😷
If you're using the app, that overrides the knobs on the amp (I believe master volume is still controllable by the knob.)
From Glasgow: I absolutely love ye, wee Petey and the Cap'n ! 🍀🎸🍀
OMG such sweet vid editing I swear it really looked liked Pete handed Lee that phone! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!
Very nice presentation, music fun and great inspiration!
awesome demo im trying one out now and so far loving it thanks
Boss has got a new artist MK2 and I can't wait for their comparison with the fender
Nothing like a strat or tele through a fender amp!
I really like the burgundy mist colour.
Thanks Captain! We need this stuff to stay sane while we are told to stay at home. Please keep them coming. All that money we can't spend at the moment is going to need to be spent somewhere... :-)
thanks for going on ! we guitar players are the most fortunate of all the locked-ins. Be Safe
This destroys the katana2. Bought this and was blown away. Bye bye Katana.
Waiting for Shane's review now.
Most likely shane will say the original mustang series amps sound better.
@@jimsimmons2674 I mean they do...

@@jimsimmons2674 They do.
I still use my Mustang III V1 with an Eminence Swamp Thang speaker all the time.
A really nice amp and I have no reason to part with it.
Shane has now uploaded one.
Guys, what happen with GTX vs. MKII ? ...This is a most anticipated review!
Wish you had given the outro settings used; that was awesome and showed what fun can be had with the looper and sounds.
I just bought a 2012 roland microcube and... It sounds amazing lol. The modeling is actually really good and although it doesn't really like pedals much, and the headphone out kind of sucks... The rest is absolutely epic. Truly feels fun to crank it and it's not very loud at all.
Alex Murphy these are amazing amps. I have one in my computer room. Underrated amps. I wouldn’t have any problem gigging with a 80 watts cube and I’m tube amp guy.
That outro loop is so sick! 🎸🤘
After seeing this I went out and got one , Wow it sounds good in this video but in person this thing is mind blowing , i had one of the older mustangs it wasn't bad , The GT i thought everything sounded fake with no depth , The GTX sound is so big and 3 dimensional the sound is every where , love your show.
Thanks for your useful comment. Did you try to record this amp with an Android phone ?

Legend say the first time Lee heard Fender and modelling in the same sentence, he threatened to resign from Andertons
His own company 😀
Confirming that the app for the Mustang GT series just got an update and now looks just like the one for the GTX, and last night when I turned on my GT100 there was a firmware update waiting that included all of the new amp models and a dozen new effects including two Big Muffs (Ram's Head and Green Russian), an EP-3 Echoplex, and an RE-201 Space Echo, and they sound GLORIOUS.
Play a game called can Pete go 15 seconds without making a noise or interrupting Lee.
Short Door Media Sorry, I loose... :)
@@danishpete that's ok - still worth it when you play!
@@danishpete Much love for your losing ways🤩.
I think pete is getting into the amp with out a script on great this p.o.s is gunna be .I fell for the whole katana thing bla bla junk junk and more junk .ok I'm gunna come clean I'm not Evh or jimmy but I've played for 20 years and I never owned a tube amp and tbh never tried one untill 2 years ago and I'm sorry there is no going back these amps are over priced toys if you are like me please even get your self a mobo price valve amp I'm serious man I was brought to a new level of tone.i have a marshall dsl 40cr I have had a fender hrd 40 meh but liked the reverd .I have bought line 6 5 120 poop katana 50 meh needs computer maybe other wise poop orange 60 as man the best as amp ever.vox vt20 meh gimmick black star I'd core 40 pretty cool I liked it I think black star is better than katana and probably better than this HTC btw pete I really want you purple squire tele lll love andertons and chappers hate the haters love that dude
Tim, maybe you should try punctuating your paragraphs, maybe people will take you seriously!
I know what my 22 year old broke ass is asking for christmas:)
Outro is F###ing AMAZING!
Software in an amp? Goodnight Vienna, I’m off to self tubulate!
