- Friday at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed was where high-speed action really kicked off. Joining the supercars and F1 stars that we had seen on Thursday were the cars of the Timed Shootout, ready for their first practice session of the weekend, and all the rest of our incredible weekend runners celebrating our theme Horseless to Hybrid - Revolutions in Power.
We've brought together everything you need to see from Friday at FOS 2024 from the Hillclimb, Future Lab, Rally Stage and the Goodwood Action Sports arena in our highlights video. In it you'll find F1 star Logan Sargeant, double F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso, multiple WRC and Dakar champion Carlos Sainz, David Coulthard, the debuts of the new Audi RS e-tron GT and stunning Ford Dakar Raptor and much much more.

@@ThuhElement Would it? Look I'm an F1 fan I'm just not so confident an F1 engine, however powerful it may be, can compete with electric. I'm not happy about it but I just don't think it could do it.

@@eoinkenny3188 There is nearly 500 lbs difference between them. The F1 needs a fan to match the crazy downforce of the McMurty. With that I believe they would beat them all day. Afterall, an F1 set the record in 1999!!! It was only 2 seconds off the McMurty and you can watch that it was clearly due to traction on the initial straight. I can almost bet you, F1's could beat that McMurty.

You cannot tell me that something like the Spurling Pure wouldn't wipe out half the grandstand after flying over the hay bales during a crash. I love the spectacle of it all, but can't help feel that the event keeps getting lucky with how insanely fast these cars are getting.

I just read that it's actually banned from competing in the shootout anymore. It can go up the hill, but not at full speed. That's a shame, but understandable.

I'm all for electric vehicles and going green. But you just can't get the same emotion as in ICE's.
electric vehicles are more carbon intensive than ICE.
I am not for EVs, so let's not even bother.

Why is the camera work so poor? Many shots zoomed in too close or too wide. There are a couple of amateur enthusiasts on yt doing a much better job than this. This event is important, please do better G FoS team.

Would VIPs’ attending this event use a stream of small black helicopters to reach it by any chance ? Our village sits between Bournemouth Airport, Swanky Chewton Glen Hotel & Chichester & the last 2 or 3 days has provided us with morning & evening traffic going W to E then E to W. Sting is currently in France so it can’t be his favourite Loot.

I don't know why the commentator suggested the Alpine Pikes Peak could be a contender for outright fastest time up the hill... The McMurtry Speirling Pure has already been their own record on the hill on Thursday and nothing else at the show is anywhere near as fast as that thing on that track.

Not sure if the McMurtry is in the shootout tomorrow? The Alpine would be a contender for the shootout tomorrow without a doubt. They mean for this year, not all time.
In the future please consider grouping all the EVs together. That way we can all go to the toilet, get something to eat etc. without missing out on the interesting cars. Thanks!

What makes you think they even would? Goodwood is a terrible track for F1 cars. The original sperling already beat the fastest F1 to ever run here, on debut in 22 and theyve already beaten their own record this year. Sperling is a faster car for tracks like this (and many F1 tracks), sorry to say. There is no space for F1 to get to close to top speed.
