    I love how finally someone is approaching the niche topic differently. I can't stick to one niche in my channel because I have multiple interests and I don't wanna start multiple channels (I have a day job so no time for multiple videos a week).
    I deleted all my English videos too because I thought I had to stick to one language, but I'm slowly coming to the realization that it is very limiting for me since I live bilingually and there are many occasions where I feel the need to express myself in English. Plus I have friends from all over the world and I feel that I'm excluding most of them.
    I'm thinking I'm just gonna film in whatever language I feel like using for the video in question and maybe add subtitles to all of my videos so nobody feels excluded.

    I like your vibe gurrlllll 🌟 the only thing that demotivates me is that it takes a lot of time and effort to produce good quality content but the reward for it comes MUCH LATER. I already got 2 jobs to do, and to invest that energy, time and money today, to see a reward years later just burns me out 😵‍💫

    I gotta say your content has not only really helped me when it comes to video production in itself, but also when it comes to how much I believe in myself. I know I'm good at editing, writing scripts and making people laugh, and so through you I started trusting myself that I am just as capable to also sell said product. Thank you so much!

    It makes sense that your video about Instagram blew up, as it seems that the most popular niche on TH-cam is content about making content. I’ve been playing around with ideas on how I can incorporate this into my channel, I feel like everyone could benefit from it regardless of what their niche is!

    • @Sellcourses
      @Sellcourses 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought this at first too but I think it just LOOKS like that because that's what we're watching most of the time - the algorithm at work! There are so many creators on youtube talking about things that aren't content creation right now who are doing really well! Particularly Science Channels

  • @DenizDerman
    @DenizDerman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I think target audience works only if you already have a somewhat strong returning viewer percentage. Those viewers come back to get more of that ‘person’ and the content is upto their alley, they know that. For channels who have less returning viewers, the viewers who consider returning, return to get more of that ‘content’ - not person but the value. Which is why I think it’s good to stick to a niche until you have enough returning viewers. Because like you said, you need to become better at editing, story telling, etc. by doing more of it. When you branch out, even if it fits your target audience, it’s new. I see a great different in numbers when I niche down, not by choice though, I am multi passionate. 🌞

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Exactly what I was thinking! You can branch out once you have a loyal audience who's there to see YOU, and will watch most things you put out. Before that NOBODY cares what you ate for breakfast or how you budget your bills.

    I love your content but sometimes it feels super overwhelming wanting to grow but feeling like i'm only being mildly successful that it's not really what my content is about. in my case, for example, I channel my content as bookish content so it felt natural to make a reaction video of me watching a tv series that was adapted from a book. that seemed to be successful but I can't imagine myself being able to go through that reaction video route bc I'm not really passionate about it and I would eventually feel frustrated with this, when I want content creation to be an enjoyable job/task/wtv. and I dont think i'm good at narrowing down an ideal target audience. this is where social media marketing tips get me and I get super freaked out and overwhelmed

    Spot on! I was a fitness professional who had a YT channel with a good following - strictly exercise and nutrition. Or so I thought. What people really showed up for was the spur of the moment feel, honesty, self-depreciation (with humor, of course). And then car wreck. 5 years later, I’m back to putting myself in front of the public eye, but this time as me. Yeah, I’m an artistic photographer, and yeah I sell stuff, but my podcast is just “61 years on this planet” information. There are a lot of people who’ve experienced the negative side of like that I have but who haven’t figured out how to work their way back to the positive. That’s the audience. So thank you for inspiring me from afar!

    I started off on TH-cam just over a year ago and I was putting al my videos on one channel (this channel). I've recently started a second channel to split my content as I'm hoping this is going to help. I'm making this channel my mental health and recovery channel whereas I'm now posting all my vloggy and travel and hauls and more laid back content on a separate channel called "Deeanna Vlogs". I'm hoping that splitting my content will help my growth, but what do you think Katie?

    This is really interesting. I'm still trying to decide what to have under my self named umbrella brand and what to make separate for my parenting from connection brand vs the adhd nomad brand. I'm struggling bc there is a TON of overlap, but there are also some BIG differences too. In one I focus on moms and breaking generational traumas and the other I will focus on life as an adhd family that travels and helping other families take that leap. BOTH will have a lot on connection and building up families, creating a life and making decisions based on your family values, and even homeschooling. But will my parenting people be put off when we do rv tours ya know? Plus The ADHD Nomads could be a well branded, easy to remember name vs my name... I'm completely redoing my biz structure right now and this is throwing me. I do know I'm not wanting a bunch of vlogs except via shorts lol. No time for that.

    Always interesting to hear your thoughts & see your journey! I’ve had a channel for a LONG time but it was always just a support to my blog that was used rarely & randomly. Now I’m making shifts & figuring out where I want to focus (niche/audience) & it feels like a strange journey since I’m not starting from scratch, but I am shifting a lot. My challenge right now is both figuring out my video style and deciding how to define my niche/audience. It’s hard to be starting over & having to trust that the consistency will lead somewhere. ;)

      @@katie Yes, I think you're right. It's just going to take time and require that I keep trying things and seeing what feels right for me. It's easy to be discouraged by low views on something I worked hard on & think is a great video! But I try to remind myself that this is all part of the process AND that I'm building a library of content that future viewers may come back to, so it doesn't necessarily mean no one will ever see it. Patience & practice. ;)

I know it's something that's said a lot of the time, and that quantity eventually brings quality and there's a million ways people have explained it, like with the pottery class experiment metaphor some people use. Anyways i found that trippy, i make that same sign with my hands in my "i'm making 100 youtube videos" video, at around 10:20 (in my video) hahahahahahaha

    For this same reason i tagged Annie Dube Hypocritical. You cant grow an audience based on a specific niche and then advice people to grow from scratch nicheness. Growing on TH-cam in 2022 is not as before anymore. the TH-cam Algorithm has changed so much. I wish more TH-cam educators in 2022 can properly educate people on this.

    Hey Katie? First of all I really enjoy your videos!
    I was wondering if you had any tips for video editing ☺️ (without paying for an editing software 😅)
    Thank you for all your videos!
