- Here's a short how to video on installing these LED tail lights for an 01-04 Tacoma. These lights are originally manufactured for 95-00 Tacomas but with a few small modifications to the wiring they work flawlessly on 01-04 Tacomas. It works! Following up on my previous comment to say that I completed this modification and tested the lights. Everything functions as expected!
I was able to find all the parts at my local hardware store for under $25. If like me you had already tossed your old lights, the pin I bought was Gardner Bender brand .25" male tab disconnect. I think the part number is 20-143M. It's not an exact replica of the ones in the plug, but I was able to gorilla glue it into place and the female tacoma hole accepts it. I used size 18 wire and a Push Guard 3 conductor insulated with liquid tape to connect the necessary wires, soldering the tips of the wire strands first to make the insertion easier.
Thank you just did this and everything works now. Pro tip if your having trouble removing the pins. Pull the wire from the bottom while pressing the tab down and pull the pin and wire from underneath the connector. Way easier

The seemingly random combination of lights that do / don't work seemed completely nutty to me, and I couldn't believe it as you described each malfunction being identical to my light install. (btw, love how Anzo markets these as "plug and play" lol). Unfortunately my stock tail lights are long gone, so will have to find that plug elsewhere, but excited to try solving this ridiculous issue.

Thanks for the guide, just installed mine and it went great. Although since I'm idiot, with a lot of effort I pulled the pin from the front where you push down the pin. I was like "easy my ass!", but then I realized.... hahah. Thanks again!

The tail lights from a 2001 tacoma have the same dimensions? I have a 2001 and I'd like to buy those tail lights, but on ebay say those only fit 95-00 tacomas and then others for 2005- 2015
they fit, you just need to splice a wire to get them to work properly
I would like to see you put the headlights. Theirs ones with the DRL light bar..

Hey! So I did this wiring on my 2002 and I still get hyper flash and my running lights are trying to ask my turn signals. I have a blinker that’s burnt out in the front and my license plate lights are burnt out, you all of those things need to be working for everything to function properly?
Are those ANZO tail lights? And did you have to put resistors on them? I've seen several listings that show resistors.

@Thetacofan So i followed these steps! the lights i have came with the resonators attached and with both of them on, my left blinker hyperflashes and also looks like it looses power while the right is ok! When I removed both resonators they both hyperflash but ultimately look the same. Putting the right resonator then the left light just stops working! My left reverse bulb also does not work wether it has the resonator or not while the right always works. It is not the bulb because I switched them both and they worked just fine on the right side. Is there some sort of wiring issue going on with my left light?
I followed your video but my 2001 tacoma everything works except the reverse lights both have power but the driver side is really dim i followed your video but ran into this issue any idea 💡
It could be a bunch of things. I’d try using different bulbs. Try halogen and LED and see how it reacts. If it still occurs then let me know
@@TheTacoFan7 i got it figured out it was my ground by the tail light the harness was so old it was separated spliced a new one in good to go!!

I bought them just off eBay. And they do not fit a tundra.
