What version of Rogue is this? I never played one with sound before. Then again, I almost always only played the Epyx version. Regardless, your rings, weapon, and armor are all what you had to have to really beat the game. I was rarely lucky to get one ring of slow digestion, much less two. That's pretty awesome. Also, I only ever got the Amulet of Yendor once in all the years I played. I only achieved that through the cheat-save method. I'm guessing you did this as well since your rings aren't properly ID'd, merely named. ^_~ (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) And I ALWAYS loved falling into traps on the way up to escape the dungeon.
"ClassicRogue 1.5 (Rusty was here)" - the version with sound ;) The ideal setup are a leather armor and a 2-handed sword, both heavily enchanted and 2 rings of slow digestion. And I hate traps...
@@hrothgar_the_dungeoncrawler Not possible to have 148 HP. and to get 31 strength, you would need to have found 16 potions of gain strength (and probably at least two potions of restore strength after fighting rattlesnakes).
Stargate Command? Or next time I visit the Secretary General of the Council I enquire tactfully if his wife has put on weight? Easy way to earn a drink, thanx!
After finding your video, I was inspired to download a DOS emulator and make another attempt at Rogue. I was ultimately successful -- th-cam.com/video/TiWxxdGlRkA/w-d-xo.html . However one question I had was how did you get your HP so high? I topped out at 79 (minus a couple of points the vampires took).
This version has some sound-effects but apart from that it is identical to the (I think) 1984 PC version. The original game that ran on the ASCII Terminal from 1980 on had your XP in the bottom right corner and a level no. It hat terrible looking walls and halls, too. This version looks exactly like what I had on the 284 in '85.
you made my day! I've never ever reached level 26, damn those horrible Aquators rusting my precious armour :(
That's why I don the first leather armor I can find and stick with it.
It also frees up a lot of space if you're not carrying 4 or 5 suits of armor.
21:36 Wow, that ending though.
This guy is just mad he wasn't admitted to the Fighter's Guild.
I don't like that I automatically sell the amulet, my armor and sword...
Best game in history.
Absolutely!
A very difficult game, that's fine work.
The hard bit is getting to the 26. level - once there just run back up!

@@hrothgar_the_dungeoncrawler Yep. Aquators were the death of armor, sans leather.
Wow, good job. I generally lost interest by level 3 or 4... Zzzz... but you stuck with it. Congrats.
Well, I've stuck with this for 38 years...
148 hits and 31 strength? Did you modify the game code? Your character makes this an easy win!
All of my attempts to mess with the code have lead to failure, so no.
Basically I got a lot of potions and avoided Vampires as best as I could.

where do you get this version with sounds?
If you're gonna be at SGC in July, look for me. I owe you a drink. Look for the really really fat lady carrying the foam Master Sword.

Screwattack Gaming Convention. Three days of nerdness and junk food. Much fun.

Lots of potions...
This game is literally impossible. I'm guessing you used save states?
it is, in fact, completely possible
@@sadisrmaacy4341 With some luck and knowledge
It's literally possible or else the video wouldn't exist. 😉
I'm guessing I'll leave you guessing on the save states. 😀
Is this the original version of the game? I don't remember having rankings like "wizard" as shown in the bottom right corner.
