They kicked them out in my city because they destroyed the hotels. I mean shit everywhere, lots of drugs, holes in walls, broken tv, clogged toilets with bed sheets, etc. It was horrible, I think insurance companies stopped paying for damages. They don't just need housing, the problem isn't that simple.

@@JphonskiOK, I was homeless. You wanna know why? I was my nans carer and she died. I lived in her spare room at the end and it was her wish that I stayed there after she died until I sorted somewhere else to live out. Instead of that happening I came back from the funeral and the wake to find the locks changed. My aunt who was in charge of the will changed the locks on me and I couldn't get back in until two weeks later when I finally got in touch to be told my stuff was in the garage. I went to the council for help and advice and they phoned my aunt to find out if what I told them was true. She lied and told them I left of my own accord which the council then said that I had made myself intentionally homeless. My nan and grandad brought me up, they were my parents. My grandad died years earlier of cancer. My nan was literally my last family member except my aunt who I had nothing to do with because she's always been a horrible woman. I was homeless for two years because my head fell off and I fell into a bad depression. THEN when I was on the streets I started drinking, THEN I started taking drugs. I'm now clean again and have my own place. But to see you automatically jump on the bandwagon of "oh they're only there for their own fault"..... you're a closed minded, jumped up prick. And you make me sick.

I finally got housing thanks to these foundations. I work at a better job now and have bills to pay, and now I give back by paying my taxes just like every one else. @@onlyoneofhiskind Most people become homeless because they don't want to or can't stand to live a "normal" life. Keeping a job, paying bills, or just being responsible for theirselves or others is to hard. Being homeless is easier to a lot of people. There's no need to keep up their appearance. No worry about paying the bills on time. There's not as many stressors. You can't take that away by giving them an apartment or money. My wife and I worked normal 9-5 jobs through our homelessness because panhandling or asking for money seemed the harder thing to do for us. The people who would panhandle holding signs or asking people for money made more money than us between $125-250 a day per person cash. They would also get food stamps and disability checks in most cases.

Yes, there will always be a bad apple to spoil the bunch, but there are a majority of us that cause no damage or drama. Keep to ourselves and try to rebuild their life. It's the people that don't appreciate the help that are the problem. Not the homeless themselves.

Of course, you'll lose all of that if you try to get a job and better yourself. Then you lose SS and no longer qualify for the low income housing. Guess what? You gotta go back to being homeless if you want more help... or just collect your check, pay your dues and wait to die in a shit hole.

I worked in a hotel at this time, first we where given a piece of paper saying where we work and why we where going to work just in case we got stopped. We had the bin almost everything in the rooms, they would Collect rubbish and take to the room to the point that we where using shovels to clear them. The first person to go in to a room would be a manger to check for Needles so that the other staff would don’t get injured, unfortunately, the housekeeping supervisor which they miraculously class a manger.
We would have days like two naked man run around to hallways beating each other with hammers, no joke. One man at another site leg was rotting but the ambulance would not take him and also the hospital refused treatment as well. After the massive bug infestation each week we would move people to a different room to clean them, some where on longer moving at all if you now what I mean. The first three weeks the council would come around with the food in full PPE and we where left with nothing, the company could get the PPE out to use quick enough and the council would no supply them for doing their job.
As you know housekeeping is a predominantly female profession which did not help when we are housing predominantly male people. The whole time we worked we a living hell, but we all know now when everything closes the substance trade can still continue.
Now I am not saying we should not help these people, but they do need professional assistance when do so. They need to be assessed as we had some which where lovely people and did what they could to make our lives a little easier, then you have to ones which was going through withdraw just going nuts. Only bouncing of the walls three days later after getting a fix.

They've kicked the homeless out so they can house refugees in a nutshell.

    • @CaptainAMAZINGGG
      @CaptainAMAZINGGG ปีที่แล้ว

Nah they did the same in Canada
And they kicked them out because the ppl were being a nuisance to the neighbourhoods they were located, and trashing the places, etc. It wasn't a thought out situation, they seemed to just shove ppl in places that patrons weren't visiting, temporarily.
Many of the places near me were basically demolished and redone, because they were in such bad shape. 🤷‍♀️
There is still many breakins and vandalism to homes and shops from the ones that apparently liked the neighborhood and didn't wanna leave. It wasn't like this til they were housed here.
This place now looks like a garbage heap, ppl are shooting up in broad daylight and there's attempted robbery and attacks.

Russell has pointed out in another interview (maybe even this one). He housed a homeless person previously and that person couldn't adjust and wanted to be back on the streets. Not saying all homeless are like this but a significant amount can't function in normal society. In my experience I also never see people really appreciate anything 'given'. People on Universal credit don't work even though able and all you hear is how they don't get enough and the house isn't adequate. Even illegal immigrants were complaining about being housed in barracks. You sometimes need to accept not everyone can be helped, especially if they are unwilling to help themselves.

If the government can do that, then they should do more to help them with their mental health, drug addiction, or other reasons. I live in the UK and they do more to help other countries than our own people.
They should do so,so much more. A lot of people dress up and pretend to be homeless to get money. They are taking it from the poor people who need it.

I finally got housing thanks to these foundations. I work at a better job now and have bills to pay, and now I give back by paying my taxes just like every one else. I'm now successful thanks to the helping hand I was givin. Unfortunately people will ignore those facts and try to paint a negative picture on every person that came off the streets.

We did this in Philadelphia too and found out that (surprise) homeless individuals that we put into their own rooms did better than in a communal open space shelter. It is essential to package housing homeless individuals with supportive services to make it work though (drug and alcohol, as well as mental health treatment and counseling; helping folks access federal benefits and health care services; helping to reconnect them with family, and connect them with jobs and education/ training, etc). We took some good lessons away from that which is helping us design better homeless shelters in the future with recovery and permanent housing as a goal for our fellow citizens.
Taking care of our homeless population is actually saving the City of Philadelphia more money than the cost of treating these individuals when they go to hospital emergency rooms for illness.

While the government wouldn't let people travel, it was a welcome source of revenue for hotels.
A high percentage of these people are homeless by choice. Or a reluctance to engage with the support that is readily available to those who want clean up.

They put a homeless gentleman in my mums warden assisted flats... then they sent the warden home. Then they sent the cleaners home. Then the homeless guy forgot how to use any form of lavatory and got himself stuck in the bin area where he defecated and peed for hours on end, before he figured out how to open a door.
The 55 year old plus residents (oldest 92) were left to clean that mess up then there was a £2k bill for the damage he did in the room they had given him.
The residents had a British stiff upper lip mentality and told the council to bugger off when they were informed they had to NOT SEE EACH OTHER. They hadn't been outside and they'd had no visitors, they weren't allowed to see each other but the council felt it was ok to drop any old homeless guy on them with no warning...
They told the council that if they gave a fuck then they would worry about following their rules but since they obviously didnt, they could stuff it. NOT ONE OF THEM GOT COVID.
