I think the DOL references the 'codename' of the Gamecube, which is "Dolphin"

Those were called jewels I believe it was mostly over in Japan they had different ones you could buy. I’m pretty sure a few titles came with jewels with the game. If you notice like you said it’s only on the earlier models that had the 2 ports on the back and the 3 ports on the bottom. When they revised it they took away that 3rd port because it never got used and then they did away with that component port too.

@@GhostHostMemories yeah the 3rd one it was never used for anything besides for game devs you can look that up on Wikipedia. I’ve heard rumors it was gonna be used for motion controls because Nintendo was gonna make that a accessory on the GameCube but since the GameCube wasn’t doing to hot they just released what we know as the Wii

I think there are officially licensed faceplates for Donkey Konga, Mario Party, and Metroid Prime. I don't know how people got them, though. Maybe through Nintendo Power or Club Nintendo?

There were some special edition systems that came with certain faceplates. There are multiple avenues though

I have a 101 model and I tried pushing out the faceplate with a needle and the needle went through the faceplate lol. Don't try it guys

It’s actually a sticker I got a tool from my kit and carefully removed it and it’s just a thick plastic sticker but don’t use that hole to remove it.
Also if your planning to clean make sure to use a glue stick or something to secure it back in
